The sphere
21:38:15 Jan 24th 08 - Lord Seloc:

OK guys got bored juring one of my exams and decided to write a short story, let me know what you think.

The room was dark, it was always dark, it would always be dark, and there in the middle was the cause.
"They say it's Cursed." Whinned a high pitched voice.
"Don't worry, there's no such thing as curses." a reasuring voice answered.
"Maybe your right..." the high pitched voice becoming low again as the man's confindence returned.
The two figures walked slowly across the room, towards the short pillar in the middle. The first one reached it, it was the frightened one, he cast nervous glances around the room. The second one arrived, she was firm in her resolve and picked the dark sphere up off the pillar without even battering an eyelid.
Suddenly a creak from a floorboard in the corner made them both jump. the sphere sailed out of the woman's hand and landed heavily upon the floor with a loud thud and rolled away into the corner, from whence the creak had come.
"Who's there?" the man's voice was sqeaking again.
No-one answered. The man demanded again. "Who's there?". Nothing. Growing bored the female walked into the darkness to the corner. She felt her way with her feet, but was walking to fast, for it to be of any use.
"No don't!" the man squeaked.
She walked on regardlessly. Strait into a chair leg, she was sent tumbling face forward. Putting her hands to her face in a vain attempt to protect her good looks from being damaged. She hit the ground with a loud bang. Trying to lift herself back up to her feet she discovered her hands had been impailed upon a lose nail. A warm liquid flew down her face freely, impairing her vision, her forehead hurt. She screamed. Pain came back to her hands slowly, increasing the scream ten fold.
The man paniced, and tried to call out to her but, his throat was numb and painful, and no matter how loud her cried nothing came out. A small trickle if fluid ran down the man's leg, and onto the floor. He stood there for a long time, all the while the screaming could be heard. Finally making up his mind the man ran, in the opproximate direction of the screams of pain.
Following suit he tripped over the chair leg, landing with a squish upon the woman. The impact drove her face down into her impailed hands, and the screaming stopped, he felt around to try and detect any movement. His hand sloshed in the puddle of liquid. Impulsively he leapt away from the body, giving of a strangled sob at the same time. She was dead. In a daze he rose to his feet. She was dead. He took a step, it splashed in the puddle. She was dead. He lost his footing and fell. His neck gave a loud crack after it had broke upon, the form of the sphere. I knew it was cursed he thought as he faded from life.

<Thats about 1 and 1/2 pages of writing.>
