I came up with this idea while exchanging messages with Charley.
Awesome idea! My map will be along at some point today! I will base mine off of Charley's RP, because I havn't done my history in a while, and my history was terrible anyway. My Empire neighbors Tasidian, it's name is Cidel (or the Cidellian Empire).
This sounds awesome! But I've got about five different ideas floating around in my head for the location of my city and empire (everything from an archipelago to a mountain chain), so I'll be back later, once I choose one.
Somewhat crude map. Should help to describe Cidel to you. There are nineteen Provinces that make up Cidel, with the Imperial Province of Cidel controlled by the Emperor, Validus Septim. That is what Cidel looked like before the war with Zurmon. As you can see, the Province of Cidel has both river access and mountain access. They mine iron, coal, gold, and silver from the enormous, rich mountain chain. They get their food from fishing and farming. Cidel is also renowned for their cavalry, with Cidellian knights being the greatest in the land. Cidel's infantry is also well trained, but they are not the best. Their archers are just a bit above average.
Actually, that is not in Charley's universe. That is in the Roleplaying Universe. I based it off of the Cidel from Charley's story, but it is not the same one. The one in Charley's story is pretty sad compared to that one! XD
Alright, I will edit it in when I get a few more additions, that way it gets easier to piece them together...
Septim, I can't fit all the cities onto a map that will have room for everywhere else and still be only moderately huge. Please pick a few important cities (I have Cidel on there already).
Cidel is fine, that's all I need. If they need a closeup they can look at the map! FOOS!
If no one else posts anything soon, I will have to make GENERIC LANDS...which anyone can make as well, if they want.
This is a map I made way back. It was very basic and just to give people an idea where everything was in my RPs. It was made with Paint so it sucks. Lands in the world of Tasidian(Early map)
Whoa you are proposing a huge addition. I'm not sure it will all fit, there is a lot of stuff in the world already. But will try.
Charley, you don't need to include Cidel, Naergothrendar, or any other country EXCEPT Tasidian. Mine is not the same Cidel as yours, mine somewhat resembles the Cidel from my history, but it is not ruled by Tiber Septim. Tiber Septim was originally banished to the land of Nirvana by the Emperor. Several hundred years later, Tiber returned under the guise of Wulf, and overthrew the man that had taken the throne from his family. Tiber Septim rules Cidel now at the ripe old age of six hundred years old (he made a deal with the Gods to serve them for three hundred years in exchange for a two thousand year life. In this, he does not rule. Tiber Septim died five hundred years ago in this. You reminded me about Cidel's navy as well, and for that matter it has an average navy. It has below average siege weaponry as well, usually relying on spywork and espionage to get inside the cities of their enemies. It is currently ruled by Emperor Validus Septim, with his only child, Prince Validus Septim II, out on adventures and expeditions most of the time. Validus II also has one son, Pelagius, whom is currently five. In case you don't realize, this RP has nothing to do with any RP ever created. This is a new Cidel that I will use in all further RPs. :-)
I just need Tasidian and Kallion really...Tasidian is located on an east coast with a slight push out into the ocean. Kallion is a short distance away(a decent sized island). I have not thought of the location for the sister city yet though. All of the rest was my RP world(used it for 2 stories and 1 RP).
I cant see Kallion on that map, any indication what it would look like? a silhouette is all I need, I do the land's coloring myself.
Kallion is not on the map because it was a semi-recent addition. I think I have a map somewhere. Ok...I swore I made a map...but I guess I didnt. Here is what is on the island though. It is basically with the city(Kallios) on the southern part, the mountains along the eastern side, the forest in the middle, and the plains in the north. Not a very complicated design. You can make the island shape whatever you want. Sp@malot - Lol...
Thanks, I'll get right on it.
Cidel is usually included in my serious RPs while Sp@malot is in my non-serious RPs (*beep*wars). But it could be an Easter Egg. Started by Spamiel Septim four hundred years ago, he called his headquarters Spamalot.. He called himself Lord Spamiel Septim, and after four hundred years, it has grown little, with only a castle added to their land. They do have advanced weaponry though (Sp@m cannons!) XD
The lands of Tasidian extend along the coast for a short ways though. That is where The Order of Tasidian is located(doesn't have to be inside the country borders though). I had the lands of Darkness(don't have to have those) Far far far to the west. I think if we all used IRC it would be better....but some people just cannot see to get it to work >_> VU Chat maybe?
'Cidel is usually included in my serious RPs while Sp@malot is in my non-serious RPs (*beep*wars).'
[[EDIT: Wow...erhm...I didn't realize this would get so long. Meh, if you don't want to read this whole thing, just give me a large patch of land with a sea to east, and plenty of room for a mountain chain in the north and then to the west of the kingdom (including vast lands after the mountain chain that will not be part of the kingdom), as well as room for a fertile center and a barren desert. I'll then fill in the rest when I have the time.]] Hm, I hope these words and ideas work... Rilienor is a lush city fed by springs from the earth that never cease to flow, and sits in the center of a vast kingdom. The Kingdom ranges for many leagues, beginning at the sea in the east upon which sit several prominent port cities. A vast, heavily forested mountain chain marks the northernmost border of Rilienor (the kingdom includes these mountains, and the mines within them), beginning literally at the edge of the sea and running west, and being impassable except through Aeglironior, the city in the mountains (literally a city in the mountains). The mountain chain turns southwards after many leagues, again impassable, and here in the western mountains, the treess begin to subside. After as many leagues as the mountains ran westward, the north-to-south running mountains give way to the lush, gentle foothills upon which the sheperds on the outskirts of the kingdom tend their flocks (Rilienor lies at the same latitude as these foothills, to the east about halfway to the sea, and the lush land extends from the foothills to the sea). After these foothills, the land is just sort of average - not exceptionally fertile, yet not hostile - until the - until the Kingdom comes to the city of Barathor, which sits on the bank of a river near the edge of the Endless Wasteland (a desert) to the south. The Kingdom continues for some leagues into the desert, and has good relationships with the tribes there, with which it trades for various luxuries only found among desert tribes. Ugh, I should just draw it, because it's incomplete. The forests of the mountains begin somewhat south of the mountains, for one thing. There is a river that literally begins in the northwest mountain chain, and runs southeast, passing between Rilienor and the western foothills, and passing just southeast of Barathor till it reaches the sea at the edge of the Wasteland. The port cities are less prominent than Rilienor, because the profit from trade goods eventually reach the capital. There are three port cities, one north of the river, one on the same latitude as Rilienor, and one at the edge of the forests in the north of the kingdom. Now, since it seems like I've built a massively powerful kingdom, comes the fun part. This kingdom is largely clan-based; there are three powerful clans supported by many lesser clans. So, I've basically created three kingdoms in one, which makes for some interesting stories. In Rilienor resides the strongest of the clans, the one which all the others obey, as well as a dozen lesser clans (ranging in power, of course) that add to its strength. Rilienor is a capital of learning, arguably having the best universities in the world, and the clan that holds power (nameless for now) does so with knowledge. Barathor has long been inhabited by people who mingle with the desert tribes, and so its people tend to be darker and are looked down upon by the Rilienorians. Its people are warriors, since their alliances with certain desert tribes causes them to often have to participate in desert disputes, and constitute an above average cavalry force, including camelry. The chief Barathorian clan is supported by only three lesser clans, with the majority of its power coming from its relationships with the tribes of the desert. The Aeglironiorians are as far removed in culture from the Rilienorians as are the Barathorians. They constitute about two dozen clans that KNOW the highlands, and the mountains are a part of their hearts. They are fond of music and dancing, and yet are fierce warriors in their own right, as part of the toughness required to live in the sometimes unbearably frigid mountains. They occasionally war one another, as well, but the city of Aeglironior is a safe haven, and is never included in their struggles. The Aeglironiorian Bowmen are unmatched; an Aeglironiorian aspiring to be an archer is not considered a "Bowman" until he can shoot...well, that will have to be revealed in an actual story, but trust me, these Bowmen are unmatched. Oh, and the Aeglironiorians have little to do with the mines, or the lumbermills - the Rilienorians oversee both, although they have become less productive recently. Indeed, the Aeglironiorians are not that powerful, and have few sources of income, although they do have a rich culture. So, Rilienor is the capital of learning, in which knowledge and technology is traded for large amounts of wealth. It can subsist on its own using the lands around it, however, and produces its own food, but for now trades for the minerals it needs. Its military is mainly average infantry, which will provide decent protection if attacked (although the knowledge is a greater defense...). Its naval force largely consists of mercenary ships *cough*pirates*cough*, although it does have a few of its own to protect trade vessels. Barathor does homage to Rilienor, although begrudgingly so. It mingles with the desert tribes, bringing in plenty of trade for the Kingdom (one of the chief goods traded to these tribes is wool). It provides the kingdom with decent cavalry, and very good camelry. Aeglironior is just sort of...there. Its archers are unmatched, but it adheres most strongly to the clan mindset that it has very little power in the Kingdom. Its existence is tolerated, mainly because if the "King" (title to be explained eventually) ever decided that the Aeglironiorians need to obey him more fully, any force that all his wealth could hire would never be able to find the Aeglironiorians in the mountains. Oh, and the King well knows that an Aeglironiorian could lead an army through the "impassable" mountains (and there are many tribes north of those mountains who have bones to pick with the current Rilienorian king).
I think it would be best to just give a description of the kingdom and not everything about it. If we want to just have the world map and nothing else, everything will have to be deleted. O_o Might as well have a Roleplaying Kingdoms topic(or w/e) XD As for the kingdoms skills. We could have and have only so many points(10-11?) you are allowed to use on them. The best in an area would be 4(?) Example Or something like that...just so every kingdom won't be like "The best infantry in the world, the best cavalry in the world" ect
Mhmm, that makes sense. With that in mind, just read the first two paragraphs after "Hm, I hope these words and ideas work..." Add in that it has archers within its borders that are unmatched (although they ARE NOT part of the armies of the kingdom), its capital is the center of learning in the world, its infantry is slightly below average, its navy is mercenary, its cavalry is pretty good but detached from the rest of the kingdom (and also mostly camelry), and that's about it. But see, that's why I included all the rest of that junk...to show that although I was claiming best archers and center of learning, the best archers part was not a part of the kingdom's strength...one might even consider them to work against the kingdom (and it will remain that way for the most part, with the exception of a few individuals in stories). And although the center of learning is supported by decent cavalry, it is a shaky relationship at best.
Well, Demonsul is making a map only, not adding the info of the kingdoms to it. We should make a seperate topic or something O_o
Hm, yeah, we should. Maybe Kingdoms of Roleplay to supplement World of Roleplay?
Argh, sorry about this Demonsul. I got carried away with words after describing the geography and topography of the kingdom. It's all saved, so if someone can delete my posts I'll repost the parts that will help build the map.
Hmmm, Must draw a map of Naggaroth...
Salaracen...returns? Maybe for good like he promised? hmm.....
Hey, I haven't gone since the last time, its just there hasn't been any decent RP threads, I'm sick of all this statistic stuff, we need more things like the Stormborne.
Rilienor has a small problem: There is only a few leagues between the edge of the northern mountains and the northern coast. I hope that is alright. Oh and I edited in another branch of your river.
THE WORLD SO FAR... | ||||||||||||
Could you put in the Sarmen Forest somewhere? :p
Alright...Ill put it on there.
That works really well, and don't worry, that's plenty of room for angry tribes in the north. My original plan was for Rilienor to be north of the river, but where you placed it fits the clannish history better. If only there was a way to build a stable city on that fork in the river... The only issue I have with the map is that there's no Barathor, but I need to figure out a new place for it because of the rivers. Nice job working with my rambling description!
One word, Wow... | ||||||||||||
'Well i guess that that's simple enough, water, wood, metals and
food all in one small seemingly uninhabitable place guarded by an army
of archers and cavalry that can traverse even heavily forested
mountains.' | ||||||||||||
Oh yeah? Well mine is guarded by Sean Connery!
Hey, I do not see Kharos, nor Andoria on you map!
Great map Demonsul! :-)
Hey, could you add a medium sized island off the coast of Tasidian? You can call it the island of mist for now with practically nothing known about it. I'm doing a lot of travelling for now, but when I get settled I'll begin posting here and fill in the details/send you a map of the island. BTW that is an awesome map you did.
Demonsul is working as fast as he can. It may not be done for a few days. I am proud of how much he has done so far. Just describe your places/countries/kingdoms. I love Kallios btw, it looks very nice. I can now implement Tolriel into my stories and RPs with it having a location finally. Not wanting to b*tch about small details though.....but Tasidian is located on an EASTERN shore :p You don't have to change it....just mentioning it.(Eastern meaning....the water on the right and the land on the left and Kallios on the right)
The shoreside doesnt matter anyway does it? Im working as fast as I can, yes...I need to go away for a while, I'll be back shortly (in an hour or two)
I am gonna be gone for most of the day ;o and the shoreside doesn't matter entirely....but in all of my maps it has the water on the right and the land on the left XD I will just have to get used to it
Good golly, thats a pretty map Demonsul :D
*Points and stares at Salaracen*
*Cries* | ||||||||||||
Sal, could you label it in a legible text? And possibly point out which city is the capital?
Okay the only parts that matter I shall say
He gets a continent? O_o XD The map looks nice though :p
Meh, he gets an island, not much bigger than yours Cedric...
Ah...he called it a (small) continent though...and Kallios has only one city on it...the rest is dwarves, elves, and halflings. There was a wizard's tower on the northern edge...but I never actually got around to thinking of how it would work.
I never make an RP with statistics...because I hate numbers... -_-
