The Stormborn |
[ I see. Well then,... I'll continue the amulet thing shortly, as I have added it to the storyline. The egg I'll forget, but the dagger thing seems interesting, so if you lads develope it it would be great. ((: ] [ Might - Well most of us are northmen, from the northern realm of Selenia (nothing to do with Fantasia, I guess. You can simply make up where you're from, like most of us,...]
|
[OOC] Did I ever say were I came from?
|
{OOC: I don't think so. I however, am from Naergothrendar...}
|
[OOC] Hm...Well lets say I am from Anduril......Best thing I could come up with ;) I think I called one of my cities from the era before now Anduril....

Johansen checked Verll, "Just a few broken ribs and bruises, thank the light. Nothing that will be too hard to heal." With that, Johansen healed Verll.
|
*Septim pulled out a writing tool and wrote:
Captain Seloc of the Blue Ray,
Captain Ragnarr Stormguard has asked me to ask you about the man that you found in the sea. He also asked me to inform you that we are to go east towards Quar-Ashel, reply as soon as possible.
Signed, Prince Septim of the Stormborn
P.S: I'll buy the drinks in town!
*Septim handed the note to one of his men and leaned close.
"Xarxes, send this to the Blue Ray...now"
*Xarxes ran off with the note.
|
Verll suddenly gasped and sat up. He
was in his cabin and lying in his bead. He was wearing only underwear and was sweating.
He looked over at his desk and saw a dagger
lying there. He took another look around the room, and saw Jonny sleeping in a
chair at the wall. He stood up and dressed. He walked over and shook Jonny awake. Verll asked what happened. He could not
remember anything about what happened after he saw the glimpse of something.
Jonny looked weirdly at him. “You fell down from the mast with
that dagger,” He pointed towards the dagger on the desk “in your hand.” Jonny
said. Verll suddenly remembered the feeling of something knocking him out. He
walked over to the dagger and looked at it. Looking over at Jonny he said “If
something happens, go get one of the healers, please.” Jonny nodded and Verll
carefully reached for the dagger. When he touched it, his vision went dark and
he saw a man bending over a dead body and taking something that looked like the
twin of the dagger he had found. His
vision went dark again, and a picture of him carrying the blade on his belt,
sheathed, appeared. The vision went dark yet again, and he saw himself touching
a rapier with the dagger. After some mere moments he could see yet again. He
could feel he was shacking and calmed himself down. He noticed his hand hovered
above the dagger. It was still in the sheath. He reached down, carefully, and
touched it. When nothing happened, he took the sheath and put it on his belt.
When it came on a chill ran through him, it felt like something had ran through
him, from top to bottom. He felt much better. He could see clearer and focus
better, and he felt stronger and quicker. He nodded at Jonny who was watching
him strangely “Are you ok? You seem different.” “I am fine, let’s go up to the
captain and tell him things are ok.” Jonny nodded, and said. "We should go tell Ragnarr thats it's ok" Verll and Jonny left the cabin, heading
for the deck.
|
[OOC: Stronger and Quicker! Thats extremely powerful!]
|
[OOC] not so much stronger and quicker :p
|
When they reached deck Verll noticed
the rapier hanging by Jonny’s side. He grabbed Jonny’s shoulder, making him
stop. Jonny stopped and turned around with a asking look on his face. “What is it?” he asked. Verll pointed towards the rapier. “I saw that in a vision I had. I was
touching it with this dagger.” he motioned towards the dagger on his belt. “Vision?” Jonny asked with a doubting
look on his face. "Yes, when I touched the dagger I
had a vision I had some visions. The first was about a man I have never seen
before that took a dagger looking exactly like this one, from a dead man. The
second was an image of myself carrying this dagger. The third was me touching
this rapier with my dagger.” “Why would you touch my rapier with
the dagger, and what’s this man taking a dagger that have to be either this one or a one perfectly
like, from a dead man?”Jonny asked with the same doubting look. “I do not know about the man, but I
think I am supposed to touch your rapier with the dagger.” Verll said “Please, let
me touch it to see what happens.” Jonny drew the rapier, and pointed
the hilt towards Verll. Verll unbuckled the dagger and
motioned towards the rapier. “Turn it around, I will touch it
with the emerald.” He said. Jonny who started feeling like a
fool, because of the sailors watching them, turned the rapier around, pointing the
end of the blade towards Verll. Verll carefully touched it with the emerald on
the hilt of the dagger. A spark came out of the emerald and moved over the
blade. When the spark came back to the emerald, the rapier started glowing
brighter and brighter. When it become so bright that no one could look at it,
the rapier started twisting so bad that Jonny had to let it go. The rapier
rattled it way towards a sailor. When it was right next to the sailor, the
bright diminished and the it stopped twisting. The sailor looked doubting at it…
|
Ragnarr watched the scene with barely a spark of interest. "Seven hells, what are you doing?" He left the rudder oars to Thoren and approached Verll and Bacardi, standing in between of the fallen rapier and the two men. His cold eyes pierced into Sir Verll's look, then into Lord Bacardi's. "Well?..." he asked calmly and coldly.
[Trying to further develope the dagger thing,..] [I'll have a new chapter soon after the dagger story gets clear.]
|
Verll looked at Ragnarr, then over
at the rapier then at the dagger. He was still wondering what had happened with
the rapier. He looked over at Ragnarr again.
"Well, captain...I am not sure. After I woke up in my room, I went to get
the dagger that was on my desk. This dagger had managed, I think, to get stuck
in the mast in some way during the storm, but anyways. When I first touched the
dagger, I had three visions, one which included a man bending over a dead body
and taking a dagger which could be this one's twin from the body, the second
was me carrying the dagger and the third was that I touched the rapier with the
dagger. And as you saw when I touched it with my dagger..Well you saw what happened.”
|
*Seloc had received the letter, and hastily scribbled his reply.
Lord Septim, The man is nothing more than a common sailor, his ship went afoul in the storm, and we picked him up. He has the rather comical name of Might. The 'Blue Ray' will be setting off immediatly in your wake.
Seloc then gave it to Kon who took it of to be delieved.*
"Make ready to sail!"
|
As Jonny looked forlornly down at his twisted blade, he felt so helpless, so unprotected. He wanted to be mad, but he was a bit more grief stricken to. He felt tired, like he needed to sleep. That blade had been everything to him, there was no other blade in the world quit like it.
Just as Jonny was about to kick it away, one of the crew members came forward and picked it up. It immediately started to transform in shape......into a giant battle axe!
the crew member dropped it really fast, it stayed as a battle axe. Jonny went and picked it up. It immedialtely changed shape, into the most beautiful rapier Jonny had even seen.
Jonny slowly smiles. He then thinks about a spear, and once agian, the blade improvements shape, into a spear.
One more time, back into a rapier, and back into its sheath on his side.Never had something so bad turned out so good.
|
*So uh Mr. Captain am I aloud to walk around the ship a bit?*
|
[Yes your a crew member of the 'Blue Ray' from now on.]
|
[Awesome! Do I get a nice fur outfit and do I get to be called Peg leg?]
|
{OOC: Once I incinerate you're leg up to your knee, you can be called Peg Leg Might... :P)
|
[Ouch Ouch Erunion that was cold]
|
*Septim recieved the letter and walked over to Ragnarr.
"He says that the man recieved on his ship was no more than a common sailor, his name is Might, and the Blue Ray will be following us"
|
"Might you look like you good at projectiles."
*Seloc pulls out a bow and quiver from behind his back.*
"These are your and you've been, asigned the position of master at bow."
[OOC: Might you have the same athority on the 'Blue Ray' as Jonny on the 'Stormborn'.]
*With that Seloc left Might to, examine his new weapon, as he made for the rudder oar.*
|
*Hmm I am indeed good with bows but, I am also good with Axes and swords.* Might then goes to his position on the boat. [Thanks I guess.]
|
"Fine..." Ragnarr nodded at Septim. "Tell the crew to be at ease. That goes for you as well. And one more thing - tell Lord Bacardi to make sure the enchanted weapon he found with Sir Verll is kept safe. It seems we are going to need it in the not so distant future,..." As soon as Prince Septim left the commander's deck, Ragnarr sat down on the timber deck still looking straight for his course, resting his head on the board. He was still holding the rudder oars firmly in his rough hands. "Thoren, get me some mead, if you would,..." he said.
X. The "Golden" Coast.
The night slowly faded to the light. There were two empty bottles rolling on the commander's deck, around Ragnarr's legs. He himself was carefully looking straight forward towards the horizon, were two white figures, most likely the two sails of a single vessel, appeared,...
[ It's a merchant, quarb, so don't rush into attacking. ]
|
*Septim holds a scope in his hands, looking at the ship on the distant horizon.
"Hmmm, the Syloson Trading Company, best to not reveal myself...", said Septim as he put away his scope.
|
*The 'Blue Ray' bobed on the water harmlessly waiting for orders.*
|
[Are we on Viking longships?]
|
[ Yes. I'm sorry I am totally inactive, yet I have so much work on other stuff, so I'll be late with the continuation, Sorry lads,... ]
|
There wasn't only one ship ahead. One would think it was a fleet. And it was. A trading fleet. Every single hour, the two longships passed by a large, quarbic galley during their month-long journey towards Quar-Ashel. They met few obstacles - no storms, yet a few over-pompous pirates, all found their end in the sea with gashes of axes and swords on them. Sea brigands deserve a worse fate than that. The two longships cut through the low waves, heading east, finally with their destination in sight...
"Amazing,..." said Kormac, staring towards the magnificent view before him. The port was huge and busy, full with vessels from everywhere one could think of - Selenia, Mulendore, Kurth, Nyrrel,... The land was mostly sandy and barren, with large mountains visable in the distance, entangled in clouds and fogs. Yet the city itself was on the delta of a large river, Taa' Byallak - known for the fertile and green lands around it. The structures were all from white pale stone and hundreds of towers with golden pointy roofs, covered in beautiful threads of knots and decorations in various differenr splendid colours, shooted out from the crowded dense city into the clear cloudless sky. Among the luxury houses stood tall trees, strange and distant, unknown to the northmen. There were buildings one would think of palaces, or castles, or great halls, or temples, all large, magnificent, foreign and exotic with luxury. The men kept silent in awe as they rowed towards the awfully busy docks, were with some luck they would find a conveniant place to set anchor,...
|
"Damn that's beautiful. I haven't seen a city to compare with it in a very, very long time..."
|
*A tide of awe swept along the 'Blue Ray' as they came into the sight of the city.*
Finre: "Dam thats nice..." Kon: "Captain permission, to raise the sails, we want to beat the 'Stormborn'."
*Seloc laughed at the crew's egarness.*
Seloc: "Full sails people! anyone caught not pulling there weight can swim to shore!"
*The ship was instanly alive, every sailor, every solider was helping out, in the race against the 'Stormborn', except Might whom was excused.*
Seloc: "You there Might, make yourself useful, go stand there*Seloc pointed to the far side of the deck.* and shout at the 'Stormborn', see if you can make them race, would be boring if they didn't put up a fight."
*Seloc then leapt to his position at the rudder oar, and made strait for the port.*
|
*Might Runs over to where Seloc pointed and says to "Stormborn"* "RACE, ITS TIME FOR A RACE!"
|
"...... r a c e, i t s t i m e f o r a r a c e !....." Thoren grinned. Kormac smiled and looked towards his lord. Ragnarr had a shadow of a smile on his face as well. "At the oars! Jens, Olaf and Thirkir, loosen the left standing rigging, Eyjolf and Ricmorn, tighten the bloody right cordage,..." his voice was loud and full with authority, yet with a speck of joy. His cold blue eyes had become lively. The northmen hurried to their positions, muttering cheerful words and boasts, all ready to show their great sailing skills. "Verll, at the bow! Septim, watch for any improvements in wind. Erunion, below deck, this is no time for wizardry,..." The mighty thrust of oars in the sea water was suddenly felt. The longship flew with ease across the sea waves, parallel to the Blue Ray,...
|
"You sure? No, you wouldn't want me to cheat for you... If you need me to, I can take the wind out of their sails, and make it perfect for us... But that wouldn't precisely be fair, now would it?"
|
"Might go down bellow deck and get some sheets! there's no way I'm losing, you too Finre and Hadir!"
*The 'Blue Ray', drew ahead slowly ever so slowly as the 'Stormborn' was weighed down by the larger number of crew members. Seloc had no doubt that this advantage wouldn't mean much as Ragnarr was an experienced sailor, that knew all the tricks of the sea.*
"Dam you Might what are you standing around for, get going!!!"
|
Verll ran over to the bow and grinned at the speed they were sailing. He screamed "Come on, we can beat em!" and continued to grin.
|
The bow of the Blue Ray was steadily passing further, as the wind carried the lighter vessel forward. Ragnarr's eyes were searching the water ahead for something. He found it. He steered a bit sharper to the wind and for a moment the Blue Ray was ahead of them with at least a long seven, sailing further and faster by them. Then Ragnarr steered down the wind. "Raise the oars!" he yelled. The northmen quickly pulled them inside as the longship had reached what was Ragnarr's destination - a coastal gust of sharper wind. For a moment it seemed they flew on top the wave that had formed, with no oars to drag along, white foams flying behind. Ragnarr steered the ship back on its original course, and looked towards Lord Seloc's ship. The Stormborn's bow was ahead with two or three meters. "Oars!" he yelled once again,...
|
"Dam it Might there getting ahead!!"
*Finre stubbled out on top the deck weighed down by lots of blankets.*
"All those not rowing grab a sheet with a partner and use them as extra sails."
*The crew went clumsily about arranging the blankets, It was an odd sight a bunch of grown soliders playing with sheets, and must of looked bazzare to those aboard the 'Stormborn'. Most of the crew had found themseleves a partner and were stad aboard the ship, sheets open to the wind, the smart ones had managed to tie themseleves down to something. It was an odd spectical, but effective as the 'Blue Ray' sped up, closing in on the lead Ragnarr had struggled to obtain.*
"FASTER!! Might more sheets!"
|
*Might runs down to the hold and grabs a hand ful of sheets thne he brings that back up and yells, "Who needs more sheets?"*
|
*The rest of crew gather round Might, as he hands out sheet to them. By this time the 'Blue Ray' has almost draw level with the 'Stormborn' and was going at a conciderably higher speed.*
|
"Seven hells,..." Ragnarr was puzzled by the odd actions taking place on the Blue Ray's deck. Kormac was grinning at the sailers, holding the old white sheets. Ragnarr focused on what lay ahead of them. They were getting closer to the quarbic docks, so he accepted that they were competeing on who would pass first the line between the first two watch towers. "Raise the oars,..." he said in a loud, commanding voice. The men raised them above the water, still out, still ready to splash in again. "Loosen the two cordages steadily,..." he called out at the men at the sails. They started letting the ropes pass through their rough skillful hands slowly. As soon as the longship got on top the spotted wave, Ragnarr yelled: "Tighten the sail two thirds, oars now!" The oars splashed suddenly again in the water, cutting in it easily, and a mighty thrust pushing the Stormborn forwards, down the moving wave. At the same time the northmen at the sails pulled the cordages with their whole force, increasing the tension the wind made sharply. It all resulted in an increadibly fluent, elegant and fast flight ahead, passing the Blue Ray's bow by a steady three meters. They were getting closer to the entrance of the docks,...
|
"Two can play at that game......Oars up! losen sail by a half!"
*Three pairs of sailor put down there sheets to attend to the sail, it was slackened smoothly. The 'Blue Ray' crested the wave as Seloc bellowed the order to tighten sail and oars out.*
"Fully tighten sail!, oars now!!"
*The 'Blue Ray' all but cleared the water as it shot forward, at an incredible speed, as the sail was tightened and oar*beep* the water in unison.*
"All Right! Nearly there!"
*The ships were now neck and neck and the impending line was just ahead.*
|
*Meanwhile Might is running up and down the stairs with handfulls of sheets.*
|
The two longships cut their way ahead towards the large entrance of the port. Several merchant vessels changed course quickly, wondering what maddness the two captains had gotten. The path was clear, yet the winner was not. For a moment it seemed as if the light Blue Ray would pass. For a moment it was the opposite - the Stormborn was ahead. Yet in the end, it seemed as if both crossed the line at the same time. With no hard feelings, the crews cheered and yelled at each other, forgetting the discipline for a moment, yet the sea lords - Ragnarr and Seloc - did not seem to care about that, since it was truely an exciting and thrilling experience. They both headed towards the south part of the port, were the non-merchant ships were docked - mainly mercenary vessels and warships, such as galleys and quebecs. There was plenty of free space there. "Raise oars, loose sail,..." Slowly, the Stormborn touched the quarbic dock,...
|
*The 'Blue Ray' docked next to the 'Stormborn'. As Seloc dismissed the crew leaving 20 behind to guard the ship, there was a giant rush as the men leapt for the shore, not even waiting for the board. Seloc joined them.*
|
{OOC: Quebecs? Never heard of them... A new type of ship, or did you mean Xebecs?...}
|
[ Ah, sorry, language differances, its the same as knorr, knarr and knörr (type of ship as well) ] [ That symbol in the third word is supposed to be an o with two dots above it,...]
|
*Might jumps out of the boat and kisses the land*
|
Jonny sits back with the captain and ships officers aboard the Stromborn, enjoying the good sight as the men scrambled over each other good heartedly to get on shore.
"So captain, where too now. I know this is the last port for a bit, so I'll have to restock on beer. Might want to get all the weapons sharpened here too, maybe buy some of those fancy blades they use around here, eh?"
|
Verll was sitting right next to Jonny and laughed when he heard about him buying a blade. "I think you probably have one of the most fanciest blades in this world at the moment Jonny" He said while half laughing. Nothing more had really happened with the dagger since the day with Jonny's Rapier-. He had just it in the sheath and that was all. "I might need to find a weapon smith too buy some new throwing knives and maybe some daggers, if I have the money that is."
|
"Well of course I wasn't referring to new weapons for me, haha, I could probably buy an entire armory for this blade, be king of this city if I wanted to, all for this blade. Haha, I'd like to see everyone leave this place with their weapons in perfect condition, a full contingent of arrows, at least one extra spear per person, if we can. We'll see. What do you think Ragnarr?"
