[[OOC: No, you can take some on the way, but you won't be taking control of them, more like sacking them and taking resources and men from the prisons, after the invasion you will be able to fully take back the provinces...and I am leaving in about fifteen minutes and will be gone until Saturday, so you can do the battle of Oceanus, but hold off the invasion until then.]]
*A cristal ball appears in front of Erunion.* "High General Erunion, I have an idea. We can pull out the fleet to the other side of the mountains, prepare an ambush, and when I will retreat, I will try to draw as many demons as I can after me. The fleet can then be used to detroy their remaining forces, after we successfuly defeat the main invasion force."
Zryike appears in front of the ball " yes yes good plan shall i teleport the ships so the demon have no chance of seeing them move?"
*Mights fleet of dragonships arrives at the seen ready for battle and fireing at the demon hordes killing thousands.*
"About bloody time. Order the fleet and the airfleet to engage, that is of course if you would be willing to fully engage Might."
Verthias blinked as he was suddenly surrounded by a pillar of bluish-grey energy, and he and his men were teleported onto the walls of the capital of Oceanus. He focused on the human general before him for a moment, idly reading his surface thoughts, to suggest that he and his men move to the north wall, while looking around to see what motley crowd he and the Guard had fallen into. There were ragged-looking individuals from all the races of this world clustered around, clearly waiting for an attack. He decided to take the human's suggestion, and after delving into his mind to find the location of said wall, waved to his men to follow him to it. He knew that they were hardly being used to their best effect being put on a wall packed with thousands of other defenders, but decided to not bother arguing: There were no specific targets for his elite force to strike at yet. He caught the last few words of the general before he left: Something to the effect of not killing any of his soldiers or civilians. Pff. As if he would even think about eating at a time like this. [By the way, i'm not a demon -_-. Also, can I get a target or two to hit with my...commandos... before/during the battle? *leaps up and down eagerly*]
{Sure Verthias... Sure.}
"Alright...." *Might turns to Xerxus, "Take two wings and swing around them in circles while your mages bombard the enemies." Xerxus bows and walks toward his ships. Might turns to Fleet-Commander Tardy, "Tard take our main battle-force and ram as many flying demons as you can while I help out Xerxus." The sounds and explosions start to begin.....*
Verthias turned to look at the spot Erunion would be standing moments before he appeared. Before he could even speak, he replied. "A demonic Behemoth, eh? Well, that is good news. I'd hate to think that we wouldn't be allowed to warm up before the party started" Verthias gave the order to his men to shift into the Plane of Shadows with him. He had to wait a couple of seconds for the slower troops of his unit to seep through the membranous energy field between our world and this one, but they were soon there, drifting through the clouds of semi-particulate shadow in the ultra-low-energy enviroment of this plane. His voice, he knew, would not have enough force to carry to his men in this area, for the kinetic energy of the air particles would be dissipated and aborbed by the billions of invisible creatures that feasted on any energy that enetered this realm, so he simply communicated what he intended with quick mental images. They started to bounce away, in two directions; Three of men were to emerge first, and take down, incapacitate, or at the least, distract a demon commander. The commotion should allow the remaining eleven of the strike party to coagulate into ideal attack positions on the Behemoth. The plan worked flawlessly. The first team slipped into the material plane to find, to their delight, a demon commander looking the other way. Their blades, sharp enough to cut flames and dice fundamental particles, made short work of the thick-skinned demon, leaving him slumping in a half-dozen pieces in mere seconds. Twenty thousand of the undead crashed to the ground - the equivalent of minuites of fighting by the entire army, in the first seconds of the attack. The distraction team laid into the demons surrounding them with glee, killing or maiming some of the greater demons in the area before any weapons were turned against them. The Behemoth instantly noticed the commotion, and waved one of it's vast claws in a commanding gesture. Thousands of demons and undead changed course and rushed on towards the insertion team. The great monster didn't even feel the half-dozen soldiers of the Black Guard whose mithril-coated feet were pounding along it's ridged spine and towards it's two vast heads until Verthias's blade plunged into one of it's eyes. It bucked and roared, shaking like a dog to get the painful, biting blades of the commandos off of it's back. It wasn't sucessful. Two admantine swords punched into it's spine at nearly the same time: ripping through a foot of the ultra-hard scales and rock-dense muscle on the monster's back and spilling litres of rich, black spinal fluid over the smoked-glass visors of the team. Their cruel blades continued to rise and fall, ripping into the most exposed vital component that the team could reach. One man, at a nod from Verthias, began to carve a hole into the flank of the Behemoth, to reach the vital organs within - flicking chunks of meat out of the growing slot like some macabre miner hacking crimson gemstone. Verthias himself had a better way in. He sprinted up to the gigantic head of the beast, and did not even try to dodge it's mouth, which the vast demon had turned back to face the team. He continued his sprint on the mushy carpet of the muscley tongue, before slicing deep into the nerve cluster that controlled the corded knots of tissues that could send the sickly elastic tongue flying for half a kilometer, with enough force to pulverise stone, and pull it back in time for six or seven strikes a minuite. The monster screeched with agony, rising it's gigantic crested skull to the sky like a wolf howling to the moon, sending Verthias tumbling down it's five-meter-wide gullet. Exactly as he'd planned. He stuck his sword into the lining of the beast's throat, and slid all the way down, spilling gallons of blood onto his armour and down the creature's own throat. He switched his vision from that of visual light to that of life: A unique ability that he had acquired long ago. He saw the pulsing, vibrating organ a few dozen meters away from him, and crunched his hands and feet into the throat lining of the Behemoth, to stop his fall. "It's time to get to work", he laughed.
Zryike appears beside Erunion
[We Found the whole world already....I have the only mage-airships.]
( OOC: no we haven't and some of the mage ships came under no commander look back and you'll see one of my posts bring them in.)
[Do I detect a pang of jealousy here? ;D] Verthias was halfway to the heart when he felt another of the demon commanders die, his undead legions crumpling into dust as he fell. Then, a vast overpressure wave hit him: he felt the vibrations shake the cavities of his body and his joints for a second before it passed him. He knew that only one thing could have caused that. "Why oh why do you have to go around making more work for us", he moaned, unheard, to his men. The incursion team, overrun by the masses of demons, had clearly been incautious in their retreat to the Plane of Shadows, and ripped a hole that went both ways into this world. Those trillions of hungering... things... were loose on the world. Oh well, he thought. At least they would be as keen on demon as human flesh...
Zryike sees the rift from his calling station uptop a tower and moans
[What the hell, Zryike? If you can teleport into the behemoth right out, why didn't YOU 'port over to it's heart and stab it a couple of times at the start?] Verthias arched his eyebrow as the half-crazed mage appeared next to him in the bloody tunnel, instantly getting his clothing and skin soaked with blood. "My men are, as you may have noticed..." Verthias hacked another chunk, pointedly, out of the fleshy wall in front of him "busy. We can close that rift ourselves..." he ripped another hole in it "But you can have a shot if you like. Do it after the battle, if you would be so kind? We want to maximise demon..." once more, the sword carved into the demon's body "..casualties"
*Might implodes a mass of demons making them explode and die.* [Zryike, we have found most of the world and I own the only dragonships....maybe you had a few personal ones but I still have the best! Bwhahhahahar!]
(OOC: i said mage ships not dragon ships! Dragon ships are much more heavily armed and i said they were far away!) ( Verthias if you hadn't noticed then ill tell you now, my char is forgetful and clumsy, and another was that this battle was your fight not mine and one more thing my char doesn't take things that seriously)
{Zryike, no more mage reinforcement ships. There was a mage guild on an island and they're already all here. Good work Verthias, but you're going to have to pull out soon, these are fairly powerful mages your dealing with.}
[*looks at Zryike very oddly*. You know, even if you were forgetful and clumsy and didn't take things seriously.. surely you'd take the potential survival or destruction of the human race seriously enough to do the job quicker than I? If there is some plausible reason that you can do something better than me + The Guard, you may as well go ahead and do that - a more realistic system than sending someone who isn't the best equipped person for the job off to do it]
(OOC: alright... WWWAAAAHHHH!!! lol)
The demons, seeing this massive whirlpool forming make haste to get the last of their troops off the water.
Zryike look on and see that he will barely get any when its finished so he stops it and starts up a fissure in between the forces and going the demons way.
"Erunion we are finished with the demons over here. Shall we unload in the fortress now?"
The fissure finished Zryike decides to teleport as many Demons he can into it while keeping it going.
"Might, land your forces in the fortress and reinforce the southern wall. Leave enough men on your craft to man the siege weapons, and have them fire into the horde.
(OOC: i am pretty powerful : ) btw how many mages in that army do they have? cause if they dont have enough i could order the mages to make a fissure an keep it open while i try to teleport some in.)
{Every demon has some degree of magical ability, some have more, some less.}
*Delran saw the assault on the walls. He left 200 fighters to deal with the remnants of the invasion demon fleet, under orders to carry on the same tactics as before. He then took the remaining fighters over the walls and engaged the demons along with the dragons. Fire potions came down from the skies, ravaging the undead. Thousands of fire bolts from the crossbownem and arrows from balistas pourred against the flying demons. It was now raining with blood.*
Zryike, his rage over, wants in on some hand to hand combat and starts teleporting on top of demons and blasting them with lightning.
[Delran...I already killed those demons ^^]
[I was fighting in the south now.]
Verthias finally reached the heart. It was.. massive. The size and weight of a grown ox, it pumped blood around the vast bulk of the Behemoth. But for all it's size, it had no real defense against the storm that was at hand. As he plunged his sword into it, twice, thrice, a fourth time, he began to phase out into the Plane of Shadows - being careful to not tear the membrane again. The demons had contained the first one, but if it came to a second so close by... the rift would rip open wide, and BANG, bye bye universe. He ensured that his men all knew what they were doing. As his physical form left the heart cavity, now pulsing with blood and convulsing madly, he felt the hundred thousand undead collapse, unguided by the monster - then felt eighty thousand more crumble as the huge bulk fell on the demon commanders, silencing them forever. His men reappeared on the walls, all thirteen of them, with the blood of seven demon commanders on their blades and another four dead in the field. Three hundred and twenty thousand undead, he thought to himself. Not bad for a morning's work. He smashed down a winged demon, slamming his sword two feet into the stone, straight through it's chest, and tossing it's broken body off the battlements. He summoned several dozen globes of pure negative energy from his home plane, the Void, and sent them fizzing into the oncoming hordes. Each sphere killed hundreds - bursting and ripping those near to the blast to shreds, then pulling in twice as many or more in the implosion as the resulting fragment of the Void hungered for life and filling to end it's bleak existence. He knew it wouldn't be enough, though. Ordering his men to spread out along the south wall, he killed the first flying to charge at him with a single stroke. Then another, then another, then another...
(I estimate the casualties for are mages are... 57 dead for magi and 25 injured... the enemy casualties are 11 commanders dead 1 behemoth and around 200k demons dead.) ( not counting the undead casualties)
The trendarat smoothly tore through the body of a winged demon, then decapitated an undead as Erunion kicked another one off the wall. Running over to a ladder, a bar of liquid light tore forth, shattering the ladder and killing everything on it. Erunion then raised his hands and fired another, this one on an angle, so that it tore down a good fifteen ladders.
( OOC: if your a strong enough mage then they cant block you only alter you area where you teleport by a few feet)
{Zryike, they've completely blocked teleportation for everyone.
Verthias kicked down another ladder and briefly opened a free-gate to the Void across the whole length of the wall. It's face, not a stone facade any longer, but a roaring cavity hungering for matter, sucked in and consumed every single siege ladder on the wall and killed every single demon and undead within ten meters. He lurched, suddenly, as a powerful demon magi struck a mental blow, trying to destabilize the gate and rip the whole wall apart with the vast energies involved. He desperately slammed back at the mage with everything he had: Fingers of Flame spouted from his hands by the thousand, racing towards the mage and his compatriots with the sole aim of tearing them to fiery ribbons, vast balls of crackling energy span towards them, and finally, the coup de grace, he Voided the skies above them. The vast expenditure of energy - in retrospect, he thought, a little too much - had not only slaughtered everything in the demon horde for a hundred meters around the origional mage, but completely sapped his magical abilities. He hoped that he wouldn't need to engage in a magical duel any time soon. A few moments later, after Verthias regained his feet, he saw a lone figure slicing it's way through the hordes outside the walls, which were pressing in again now that the free-gate was gone. Telcontar looked like he was doing well, and Verthias nearly returned to his previous activities: Then, he caught a glimpse of a quartet of powerful demons pushing through their own ranks to get to the commander. He cursed, and suspected that even Erunion's formidable skills would not be enough to deal with these mighty foes. He took a brief run-up, and performed a jump that would have shamed an Olympic long-jump champion, soaring out over the undead hordes, and landing with pintpoint accuracy directly behind the group. With a slick grace, he sliced one of the demons in half with the vast amount of momentum which his fall had built up before he even hit the floor. When he did, he ran straight through the legs of another of the creatures, hamstringing it, and reached the grim, Trendat-wielding soldier just in time to take the head off a zombie lurching at him from behind. "Need a hand?" He grinned wickedly
*Might jumped off the ship and levitated down in the middle of the demon horde. Might uses his staff to implode the area around him clearing it.* "Erunion...just implode the demons. Xerxus showed me how to do it in a large radius so I shall show you [No popping up with random knowledge!]" *Might sends Erunion the words for the spell.*
[..this looks muchly like a superweapon to me]
[Requires lots and lots of power too. I can only do it in that large area because of my staff.]
[How convenient *rolls eyes*]
[Yesh :D] | ||||
Zryike curses with the fact they blocked teleportion.
{No Superweapons! Except the blade of Erabor. End of story, bye bye, see ya later.}
[What superweapon?] *Might holds out his hands and a beam of white hot oil flys out burning demons in half.*
*Delran sees what is happening on the ground and Might's actions. He caanot let the fortress to fall or the commander to be killed. So, he orders one of his officers to take command of the air fleet and jumps form the fighter. He slowly glides over the fortress and roars:* "Imperial Guards! Now is your chance to take vengeance upon those who have taken our Emperor and put a stain on our honor and flag. Gather your strenght and protect the Empire! For the Empire!" *Upon hearing the summoning, 3 thousand men, elves, orcs and tigarians gather in formations near the High General, fighting agains the demons. Delran arrives in front of them and draws his sword.* "General, you are our only hope to restore the Empire and save the Emperor! Stay out of combat, at least for a while. You need to rest. We, Might, me and Verthias can take care of this from now on." *Delrans sword catches fire and from its tip, fire balls are hurled against the undead and demon hordes. After this, the Imperial Legion charges with all of it's might, using swords, axes, bows and maces. Fire balls or lightnings flash from places where elves are fighting. It seems that it will be a crimson blood sunset.*
*Might stops hearing the name of "Might" and turns around.* "What do you mean? Your saying Erunions the only capable General and the only Duke?"
"Hell! You bloody fool! You brought three thousand men out of the safety of the walls!? I applaud your heroism, but not your brains, get back into the air, and get the Imperial guard back. The charge is wearing off rapidly, and they will soon be overwhelmed."
*Wraith jumps into the fray alongside Might. He has served him well for most of his life and will continue to his last breath. Wraith released arrow after arrow from his longbow and demon after demon fell. He saw Might blast tens of demons away with his spell and Wraith killed a demon about to strike at Might. As the main demon force attacked, Wraith threw down his bow and unsheathed his kukri. He slashed at one demon, stabbed another and blocked a sword coming at him. Then he cut open that demon's stomach and continued; blocking and slashing, blocking and slashing, all the time doing his job and making sure Might was still alive. Wraithish suddenly has a brilliant idea. He whistles to Might.* "Might, think you can use your hocus-pocus and set my weapons on fire?" *Might noods, says some words and the Kukri Blades in Wraith's hands catch fire. Wraith grins and charges straight at the next horde, setting them on fire and slashing at as many as possible, setting them on fire.*
The demons start advancing on the imperial legion, with their mages blowing holes in the ranks. Wraith is soon all alone in the horde, a situation which is not at all advisable. The Imperial guard, hearing their orders from Erunion, start to retreat to the walls using their mages and the walls mages to prevent them from being overwhelmed during the retreat.
