[Sorry, I posted after you and didnt know] *Wraith hears the orders and retreats to the walls, while setting more and more demons on fire.*
"Wraith wait." *Might grabs Wraith and levitates back to the saftey of his ships with Wraith.*
(OOC: its looking like every char as magic :( except for wraith)
Verthias notes what Zryike is doing, and has a fiendish idea. He summoned his men - all thirteen were still alive, although some bore injuries - and told them his plan. If they went in a contest against the Sychronised Grinning Team, he thought, they would probably win. The elites of the Black Guard had a field day: Slipping in and out of the Plane of Shadows, essentialy their own private realm, they struck at demon commanders and mages alike and returned before anyone knew what was happening. The mages fell by the score, and the commanders took thousands of undead into the grave with them. His men made a far better account for themselves this way than they ever would, treated as heavy infantry and holding the wall against the seemingly undending hordes. [Don't expect any replies from me for the next.. ooh, 16 hours ><]
Zryike noticed the energy that keeps coming form the plane of shadows and guesses that Verthias is behind it * Zryike sends his silent thanks*
*Delran hears the orders from The High General. He signs the Imperial Legion to retreat to safety, behind the walls. He personally remains in the rear guard to cover their retreat. Using his sword and magis skills, Delran kills a few demons and undead, before gliding to the command ship. There, he signals all ships to gather over the walls and take out any enemy that tries to climb it, giving the army some time to rest.*
"Delran, why are you commanding my ships...and why are you on my ship?"
[I am on my ships! Oops sry!] *Delran glides to the command fighter and orders the other fighters to gather over the walls.* [I was only a semanthic mistake. You could have understand what I wanted to say. I do not need your ships.]
[[BUMP]] | ||||
[Bump] [My guys are continuing killing people, by the way. Not much to say about it till something new happens ><]
(OOC:Yeah i think we've beaten them...)
[I am killing the dead bodies.]
Zryike takes his 400 Drakonians that he has left and goes after the province of Duke Gorris
[Where did you get drakonians?] *Might goes after his provance.*
( OOC: Remember i brought i*beep*r>
(OOC: remember i brought them with me?)
[You can't take over provinces, you can at most attack the cities/defeat the guard of several thousand demons/rescue guys held prisoner. And you could at least describe how you did it beyond vrute force (those vrutes, always beating someone up)]
{Zryike, the Drakonians are under Drakonius' command.}
(OOC: thats what i meant so how many prisoners do i get?)
(OOC yes but i got them back)
"Erunion, we should use my province as a base of operations."
" Yes Yes i concur, we should also land in Gorris's province"
[Zyrike, you can't hear this...its through Erunions mind.]
"Might, your province would be perfect, except it is so central. We would be surrounded, our only escape would be through air. Could your airships carry a third of the force we have at our disposal now? If that is so, we could leave the other two thirds here, and set up a base of operations in a secluded and defensible area somewhere in your province."
"Yes my airships can." | ||||
(OOC: Dude then like do something that minds it, because it looks like your regular talking)
Erunion continued to telepathically speak to Might.
*A cristal ball appears in front of Erunion* "Sir, I have 450 fighters left. What should be my next task? Defending Oceanus or rescuing some prisoners?"
Verthias phased back into reality next to Erunion, the living shadows of the Plane still swarming all around him like a cloak of purest darkness. He did so love dramatic entrances. "You know, pound for pound, my men provide the greatest fighting ability in this entire army", he said, with simple and assured arrogance, "I do hope that we'll be coming along..."
"They are your men, so I couldn't order you around. Certainly you may come, we might need your... unique abilities.
[[OOC: ALRIGHT, you can only ATTACK provinces and take prisoners from the prisons to add to your army, only when I am freed and I banish the demons using the Blade of Erabor can ANYBODY start retaking Provinces...and the races are under the control of that particular races Duke, which means the Drakonians are under Drakonius, Elves are under Silverscar, and so on...]] Topal hears word of a resistance movement in Xerillia, where only five hundred Elves, and only 20 orcs, are using guerilla warfare to weaken the demons.
"Topal! Take a third of Delran's fighters and start finding out who is out there fighting. Bring the wounded back to Oceanus, and organize the rest. Have them use crystals for communication. An organized group fighting a guerrilla war is far more likely to succeed than a disorganized one."
"Yes sir!", says Topal. General Jonas Topal takes his best men, Conwell, Bartimaeus, Marcus, and Aesius, and a few others and goes out in Delran's fighters to Xerillia. ***Two days later*** "General! We're under attack!", says Marcus. "How many enemies?", asks Topal. "Twice ours, at least", says Marcus. Topal thinks for a second, then looks up. "Enter evasive formations, fire at will", says Topal. The battle goes on, and one of Topal's fighters go down after two of the demons' do. Topal has an idea. "Retreat, aim ballistas towards the rear, but don't open rear hatches until my order is given!" The fighters begin a retreat. "Slow down...and light the ballistas", says Topal. The fighters slow, and the demons catch up. "FIRE!", says Topal. The hatches open, and the ballistas blow three quarters of the demons out of the sky. "Loop over them, grab something!", says Topal. The fighters loop over the demons, and the archers open up their *beep*nal on them, dropping many. With only ten demons left they attempt to retreat, but are cut down by mages. Topal continues his journey towards Xerillia.
"Erunion....are we ready to go?" "Verthias, you and your men will be under Xerxus's command. Don't even think about arguing about it. You will still be commanding your men."
"Aye, Might. The men don't know where we're going, in case of traitors. Make sure no one knows except us."
Topal and his men touch down in part of a large forest that used to spread through most of Xerillia, but was partly burnt down. Yet, the magic in the forest keeps it from ever getting close to destruction. Topal steps down the ramp and his best men follow him. He has twenty-five men out of his five hundred come with him. Marcus, Bartimaeus, Conwell, Aesius, five elite swordsmen, five elite mages, and ten elite archers. Topal leads his men through the forest for about two hours before they are apprehended by around one hundred Elves. "We are friends, I am General Jonas Topal of the Eraborian Army, and these men are my best. We are here to find the Xerillian resistance", says Topal. "A General? I am Dissar Cossilwind of the Xerillian resistance...good to meet you", says Dissar, "I lead this resistance, I was once a Major in the Eraborian Army, and I still am, sir!" Dissar salutes, and Topal does it back. "Good to find you, we heard rumors amongst the Elven troops in Oceanus that a resistance was formed with five hundred Elves and twenty orcs", says Topal. "Those rumors are old, it is up to one thousand Elves and a hundred Orcs now, and it is growing. I will lead you back to our base", says the Elf. "I must fetch my men, they are among the best in the Eraborian Empire, five hundred men, and around fifty airships", says Topal. "Really? Well, I must say, bring them forth", says Dissar. Topal sends Bartimaeus to get the men. And when he returns they go to the Elven resistance base. It turns out to be a fortress about the size of Oceanus's inner fortress, and the five men at the gate let them in. The walls change with the enviroment, and is very hard to see from the air due to tree coverage over the top. Topal goes with Dissar to the main building and up to his office. "Your men will be given barracks, and you will be given quarters and an office. We must work soon, how many men do we have in Oceanus?", asks Dissar. "We have over twenty-five thousand men, they will take the capital soon, and they will rescue our Emperor so that he may permanently banish the demons from this planet forever", says Topal. "Well, that is good news, if Emperor Septim can be freed, then Erabor can live again", says Dissar. "Agreed, now, what plans have you?", asks Topal. "The close city of Versilor is a prison city for the demons and it is guarded by only two thousand men, if we can free the men we will add about a thousand humans, five hundred Elves, five hundred Orcs, five hundred Drakonians, two hundred Serpentians, and a hundred monkey people to our numbers, then we will be able to do some real damage", says Dissar. "Fantastic", says Topal. "So, what news of the Dukes?", asks Dissar. "High General Telcontar lives, so does Might, Drakonius, Westa-Rar, Gorris Farilor, Rufus Skorg, Shinar Silverscar, and a few others", says Topal, "We have a good chance of rebuilding if we can rescue our Emperor." "I have a plan, in Xeris there is a portal to the demon world, but it is guarded by over 1,000,000 demons. Yet, there is a secret passage and there also is a way to destroy the heart's connection so that the Oceanian Armies won't have to deal with that million demons when they take Erabor", says Dissar. "I'm all ears...", says Topal.
Verthias leads his men onto one of the transport ships, a mighty dragonship several hundred meters long. When he stepped on board the dragonship, he suddenly felt something: a distant cry for help. Looking around, he realized that the crystal the mages of the ship used to communicate with the rest of the fleet was amplifying the mental call of one or more of his men. He tracked down the signal, and drifted through the shadows to reach there. When he got there, Verthias was overjoyed. Another six survivors of the Oceanus platoon, including one powerful mage, Tassadar, had dug in on the top of a small, rocky plateau, and survived against multiple demonic assaults. They recoagulated back in the airship just before it took off: There were now twenty members of the Black Guard in one place. And one such soldier is enough to kill an army... This gave Verthias an idea... he sent messages to Erunion and Xerxus of his plans: to move ahead of the main force, shifting through the shadows, mark safe landing areas for the transport ships, harry the demons in the area, establish contact with any resistance fighters, learn the demonic troop dispositons, and set up supply dumps for the Eraborian forces to use. The twenty men dropped out of the physical world, and appeared, mere seconds later, in the heart of Erabor. With deft instructions, they split into four teams, and got to work..
Septim sits in the cave on the demonic plane. He hears footsteps at the cave door and senses a lesser demon approaching, he unsheaths Icengard and slits his throat before anything could be done, he drags the body to the end of the cave and takes his weapon, a demonic looking dagger, and sheaths it on his leg... *** Jonas Topal leads an army of two hundred fifty soldiers up to Versilor, where the demons decide that it would be more fun to charge than to pick them off with their archers. Perfect... The demons charge and out of nowhere, the Elven riders arrive on horses at both sides, the demons are cut down and trampled before anybody knows what hit them. Topal then leads the charge into the gate, they rescue many prisoners and obtain much armor and weaponry before riding back to the base. Topal sits down with Dissar. "Good attack", says Dissar. "Thank you, now for Xeris...", says Topal.
*Delran took his remaining 300 fighters after giving 150 to Topal, and heads towards the coast of Welliar. He proceeds towards the most south-western city, and arrives there at night. Using his magic, he creates an illusion of his forces. The illusion force has twice the numbers of his force, but cannot do nor receive any damage. He make the illusion force to attack the city from the north-west and draw the demon forces outside of the city. The tactic maneuver is successful and the demons engage the illusion force and as the force is fleeing from the battlefield, they pursue them. Delran takes his fighters into the city and defeats the few demons left there to guard the prissoners. After defeting the guards, he send some of his crews to free the prisoners. After this task was completed, he orders the prisoners to gather with whatever weapons they find on the western coast, while the entire fleet pursues the demons. Taken from behind, the demons pursuing the illusion force dispatch a small unit to take care of the pursuers, while the main force still follows the ilusions. The rear guard is easily beaten by the fighers, who trained by High General Erunion and commanded by a young and briliant general, form an impressive attack force, surpassed only by General Might's dragonships. After the defeat of the rear guard, the illusions engage the demon force, who do not know about the fate of their rear guard. Surprised by the fact that none of their attacks had any effect on the illusions and taken by surprise from behind by Delrans fighters, the demons are slaughtered, without knowing what happened to them. Delran returns with his fighters to the coast. There the liberated soldiers await his return. The soldiers embark on the fighters and they set course to Oceanus. Meanwhile, Delran reports to High General Erunion: "Sir, I have liberated 1000 soldiers and at this moment I am on course towards Oceanus with them on-board."* [I do not know if they are 1000 or more. Someone pls tell me the exact number of soldiers I have rescued.]
[[OOC: 1250 men...]] | ||||
From on board Might's second flagship, Erunion was staring at his crystal ball, receiving information and giving out orders.
With the power of the rescued High Elven mages, Topal manages to send a message to Telcontar. "I have made contact with the Xerillian Resistance Movement, their leader is Major Dissar Cossilwind. I just sucessfully attacked Versilor and rescued many men. We plan to sabotage the Heart of Xerillia in Xeris so that the one million men garrisoned there will not be able to teleport to Erabor when you attack. General Jonas Topal signing off!"
"Sir, any other orders, after my arrival in Oceanus? Or I will proceed on with my current orders? I will need some more troops if I am to continue. The last maneuver might not work after 2 or 3 more times."
Topal and his men stand before the prison city of Tysolon, a thousand men are locked within the doors. Topal's airships bombard the city with their catapults, but make sure not to strike the prison itself, afterwards the footmen march forward, and the demons shoot arrows at them. The mages block the arrows with the physical shield spells, then the footmen reach the gates and open it using a battering ram. The gates burst open and demons run out, the footmen retreat and their retreat is covered by archers, whom shoot arrows at the demons. After many are picked off the footmen turn around and engage the demons while the cavalry comes from both sides and flanks the demons. After all are dead, Topal and his men free many prisoners and obtain much needed food, weapons, and armor from it. They return to the base and they count their numbers. 5600 armed men now make up the Xerillian Resistance. Topal smiles and sends another message to Telcontar. "Since my arrival we have gained four thousand one hundred men and weapons and armor to arm them. We have plenty of food and plenty of things to conquer. Upon reaching ten thousand men I will begin planning my attack on Xeris, if things go right you should only have to deal with five hundred thousand demons rather than one million five hundred thousand...good luck sir!"
*Delran disembarks the 1250 rescued soldiers and awaits further orders. Meanwhile he send fighters to scout for a new target near the coast, if nothing new comes up.*
[Verthias, take control of my character, Might and Xerxus, caause I need to do a lot of work today and I can't really post a lot.]
[I would, but I can't see anything major for you to do yet. When will we be launching the main assault landing onto Erabor, Septim?] Verthias and his squad of four men moved into yet another clearing in the forest, after carefully surveying the surrounding terrain. Relatively long and straight, it looked like it had been farmed before the demons came: as the ruined cottage in the corner attested. It was, more or less, perfectly the right size for a dragonship to land - and it was convenient to the other six landing sites, four only large enough for fighters to large, but two big enough for dragonships, which his men had already marked. He removed a communication crystal, preset by Tassadar to constantly broadcast a low-level message to an attuned crystal set back on Might's flagship, and buried it a few inches under the ground, in the middle of the clearing. Suddenly, he felt a focused mental sending from one of the scouts still out in the forest. Demons, he thought. The squad sprinted towards the signal: fighting the demons in the trees would be far more advantegous than out in the open, especially if they had the numbers. With unnatural grace for warriors covered in plate armour that weighed thirty pounds, he and his men scaled the trees, and waited. Their patience was rewarded, as a wave of demon scouts, twelve of them, twenty meters apart, slowly moved past their position. Verthias grinned at this: if they were being this wary in their own territory, other resistance fighters must be in the area. He indicated that his men should move out, sixty meters apart: to take three of the scouts each. Verthias slipped down behind his first demon, the pointman, and killed him in a single, delicious blow that removed the monster's head in a single, silent movement. The second, to the right, hadn't even noticed him, and didn't hear the silent patter of his killer's armoured feet as they covered the twenty meter distance between them in a mere fraction of a second. The third heard a slight crunch amongst the leaflitter to it's own right, and immediately turned: to see the corpses of two of it's fallen comrades, and their black-armoured murderer. The imp, terrified, opened it's mouth to scream: but only received a spinning sword in the mouth for it's trouble. Hiding the bodies, his platoon regrouped with the scout, and moved down the way that the scouts had come from. Two hundred demons, loosely organized, all footsoldiers save for one astride a plated, scaled monstrosity that may have formerly been a horse. Verthias laid his bet that they'd kill them in a minuite. He lost the bet to the scout who'd designated the group, who decided on fourty seconds.
Erunion sat in his cabin, staring at the crystal, and the table. He had enhanced the table so that, with a thought, he could create complex maps and battle plans on it. Damned useful, that. Three dimensional images even, such as the castle at Erabor. Leaning closer to the crystal, Erunion started sending out messages.
"Sir, I ask for the command of the Imperial Legion, along with some other men. I need them in order to charge more than one city at a time."
"Be careful. You can only fit so many men on a ship. What happens if you have too many men? Some will be left behind. You can use the imperial legion, but leave space in the craft for prisoners."
