[[OOC: Just reminding all Generals to reduce their pay back to 2000. Also, education costs a thousand for military and court, and 750 for general. Make sure to pay for them. =D]] Gaius had taken part in two of the largest wars of the age, one as a legionnaire and centurion, and the other as a General. He knew war, and he knew that there was no glory or honor in it. Some of the bravest and strongest young men in Serillia had served and died under his command, and now nobody but their parents knew their name. All they were was a number, a number in the count of casualties during the Serillian Civil War and the Orconian War. It was a crime to Cidellus, but there was nothing he could do. He was a general, and as a general all he could do was minimize the casualties. [[Name: Lord Gaius Cidellus Quintus Cidellus Severus Cidellus
Often Tiberius would wake up at night with a strange feeling that his centurion was yelling at him, ordering him to get ready for mock combat. Tiberius's hand would lurch to his sword before his breathing relaxed and tensed muscles loosened up. He'd wash his face with ice cold water and go out for a walk after looking at himself long in the mirror. As he looked up at the stars, he was almost sure that they looked brighter before the Orconion war had begun. His last 20 years had been a spectacular story that tales simply throve upon. From a property-less pauper with not a cent in his pocket to being a General and a Lord. True, life would never cease to amaze him. Mathematics, Veteran Mathematics, Advanced Mathematics ----------------------- Life went on. Jarnas had only four years left in the military, and in preparation for his retirement, he took leave and studied Master Administration. When Jarnas retired, he would have a city, and he would run that city as efficiently as possible, moreso, even.
*Wednesday* Six months left and Gaius seemed to be counting the days until his release. He would never go back on his contract, but he was growing to dislike military life. He was good at it, but he did not care for leading armies. He decided, at the beginning of the last year he had left, that he would use his leave to train himself further in the art of administration. Four thousand gold and six months later, he was an expert of administration. *Thursday* The last six months of Gaius Cidellus's military career were not spent with his legions, but instead at the academy preparing for his future administrative career. The classes were eight thousand gold coins total, but he was an administrative master by the end of them. He believed the training to be well worth the gold. [[Name: Lord Gaius Cidellus Quintus Cidellus Severus Cidellus
Gaius Cidellus was no longer a General in the Serillian Army. He had spent exactly twenty years of his life serving the Emperor as a soldier, and then as a soldier and an advisor. Now, he would be a nobleman. Administration of a city was a very rewarding job if you knew how to properly organize and manage, and Gaius had taken nearly two years of schooling in doing so. Bertrol was a city of around ten thousand inhabitants within the city walls themselves and out in the surrounding farmlands. The castle on the hill in the center of town was of standard Serillian design, and it looked well fortified. Lord and Lady Cidellus, along with their children, rode into town the week after Gaius's birthday. The city was in the north, and was still rebuilding after the Orconian attacks. Gaius would lend his hand, as the previous Lord had died in the wars. He could be called a master administrator and he could be called a master tactician, and he was sure that he'd be good at both governing the city and leading the two thousand man garrison in case of attack. He was as prepared as he could ever be, and his family was behind him. [[Name: Lord Gaius Cidellus Quintus Cidellus Severus Cidellus

{When leave isn't taken in the Army, it keeps getting accumulated and we eventually get that much time's worth of pay at retirement. In real life the limits of 1 years worth of pay, you decided how much it's here) Completion of his tenure in the military and courses in the art of adminstration saw the Emperor grant him lordship over a city after a tearful banquet of farewell where all retiring generals had been invited. It took Tiberius some time to get accustomed to city life, whose inhabitants he thought to be unruly and disciplined. He immediately whipped the lousy town garrison into shape and set about hiring ex-legionnaires from the state treasury and training his garrison to be at par with standard Imperial Serrilian Army soldiers. *************************************** Name: Lord Tiberius Termainius Titles/Ranks: Royal Knight, Lord Of Telecontar Age: 39.5 Gold: 33850 {-60 gold to feed family} Pay: 8000 gold a day Hair color: Black Items The Techniques of Vorsumar (Veteran In Oration), The Techniques of General Vordomor Family Relation: Wife

Mathematics, Veteran Mathematics, Advanced Mathematics ----------------------- Jarnas had begun counting the months until his retirement. It was becoming time to let the next generation of generals take over, something that Jarnas was loath to do only on the principle that they couldn't be as good as his generation of soldiers.
*Saturday* The city of Bertrol was returning to its former glory under Lord Gaius Cidellus, now a military hero. Lord and Lady Cidellus were often invited to Seris for royal dinners where Cidellus would sometimes meet General Jarnas Insurgo and other former soldiers. The new Generals, the ones who hadn't served in the Serillian Civil War or the Orconian War, didn't seem to be as high in quality as the older generation. *Sunday* Most of Bertrol's citizens now had homes, and the reconstruction of the arena, academy, and great library were now underway. *Monday* The arena, academy, and library were still under reconstruction, but Gaius knew that the people of Bertrol loved him. The city was prospering under his gifted administration, and he had easily defeated a small group of bandits that had been terrorizing the roads around Bertrol. *Monday* [[Name: Lord Gaius Cidellus Quintus Cidellus Severus Cidellus
Tiberius immediately brought his city under iron rule using his army style garrison to impose perfect law and order whilst cleverly at the same time spending vast sums on revenue generating mean of entertainment such as Gladiator contests. Criminals were thrown in along with prisoner of wars, with the victor getting a chance to live a free life in the army. There was something about the desperate savagery of a man who was about to die when he was given a chance to live by fighting that drove the bloodthirsty crowds crazy. Under his adminstration city beautification, enhancement of cultural acivities and improving agriculutral produce were given top priority along with other related works like irrigation etc. *************************** Name: Lord Tiberius Termainius Titles/Ranks: Royal Knight, Lord Of Telecontar Age: 41 Gold: 57790 {-60 gold to feed family} Pay: 8000 gold a day Hair color: Black Items The Techniques of Vorsumar (Veteran In Oration), The Techniques of General Vordomor Family Relation: Wife

[[OOC: Promotion to Marshal (Commander of a Theater) is something given only in times of war. You will be given 2,500 gold a day as a Marshal if you accept.]] *Tuesday* At the age of twenty, Gaius would've never dreamed of being as successful as he was. He had more money than he would ever need, he had a beautiful, loving wife, he was a friend of the Emperor, he was a well-loved General of the Orconian War, and he had three great sons. It was unreal to him, and yet it was most certainly real. *Wednesday* Bertrol was nearly fully recovered from the Orconian War, and the city had been restored to its prior magnificence. *Thursday* An Orconian scouting party had been discovered in the north. The orcs were tortured into talking, and it was discovered that another invasion, larger than the first, would soon descend upon the Empire. It would come from four different directions, invading the west, the east, the south, and the north. Gaius was asked, by the Emperor, if he would take accept command of the Western Theater. Gaius accepted, knowing that, as a powerful man, his decisions now came with great consequences. General Jarnas Insurgo was asked to lengthen his career to serve as the commander of the Eastern Theater, and General Tiberius Termainius was asked to come out of retirement and serve as commander in the Southern Theater. Emperor Aulus himself would command the armies in the north. Armies were being raised, as were taxes, in preparation for the largest war the world had ever seen. [[Name: Lord Gaius Cidellus Quintus Cidellus Severus Cidellus
{OOC: I'll get an update tomorrow. Will Lord's still earn income from their towns if they are Marshals? It would be less, naturally, as the Lords would not be able to use their administration skills, but the towns wouldn't just disappear... :D)
[[OOC: Your stewards, whom are half as skilled as you are, would take over. It rounds down if your skill level cannot be divided in half. Master - Has a veteran steward. So you'll get around 2,000 from your towns still.]]
The West, battleground the Serillian Civil War over seventeen years ago. Gaius could not believe it had been that long ago, for it seemed like just yesterday. Gaius had ten legions at his disposal, or 60,000 men, as did each other theater except the north, which had 72,000 men. It was a massive number of troops to repel the invasion, and was probably draining the treasury fast. Lord Marshal Gaius Cidellus would do everything in his power to end the war as quickly as possible, but he wasn't stupid. The orcs were as tough and brutal as they were ugly. It would be a long, tough war. His wife was sent to the villa in Seris, and his children were transfered to the Seris Academy. The country would be devestated, that much Gaius knew, they just had a say in how much. [[Name: Lord Gaius Cidellus Quintus Cidellus Severus Cidellus

Mathematics, Veteran Mathematics, Advanced Mathematics ----------------------- 5th-8th Jarnas served his last years in the army faithfully, before finally retiring with honours. After a touching ceremony, he was awarded the lordship of a beautiful city in Fenis, Hennispeak. It was nestled in a little valley amongst the mountains of Fenis. It was, to put it mildly, picturesque. Jarnas splurged and spent 15,000 gold to build a Palazzo in the mountains 10 miles out of Hennispeak, a place where he and his wife could retreat to and a place where his children could grow up in peace. Today War was coming. The Orconians were going to return, and Jarnas was asked to rejoin the military as a marshal. He and his wife... Discussed matters, but in the end, duty won out. Jarnas rode to headquarters, to take command as Marshall of the East.
