Doomsday clock | ||||
---|---|---|---|---|
One minute and 40 seconds before it hits 12 o'clock. Our world has never been that close to Doomsday......... Not that I care that much about myself - I know how to supress that it in my mind if/when I like to do that - but I certainly feel for my grandchildren. I have 4 and within a day or two I have 5. | ||||
Holy sh.t. This has nothing to do with about headline - and yet......... I never though I ever should live under such "circumstances". But the borders of Denmark is closed - completely closed - from tomorrow at 12:00 hours and 1 month forward. Due to the Corona-virus. | ||||
Yeah tell me about it. I sneezed during a job interview two days ago. And man I never been rushed out from a interview that fast:(. People are freaking out. | ||||
That's pretty crazy, especially considering the fact that sneezing isn't even a symptom :P My city's supermarkets have a lot of empty aisles, mostly non-perishables and toilet paper, and I'm guessing it's the same in other countries. People are out of their minds. | ||||
Same here in Sweden. Heck some stories even promote their stuff with Corona. Like bunker with us so you can survive this kinda attitude. Even some African countries where they usually don't even get scared of ebola are taking this serious. | ||||
Dutch scientist found a virus blocker for sick people, needs a few months of testing | ||||
From what i heard recently, Corona virus is heavy and cannot stay on air for long time. So it's adviced not to walk barefoots anywhere. Corona Reminder: Stay 6 feet away from any cold sickness people, if anyone coughs at you instantly cover your nose & mouth, use masks (wash your mask at 57° temperature b4 reuse it), wash hands with anticeptics for at least 30 secs before eating anything. Stay safe. | ||||
Hmmmm Bala. No. The true and only true treatments is: If you think you feel a little weak (like when you get a normal flue) - drink 2 or 3 stouts. If that doesn't help, take a couple more. And do that each and every day until you either feel better or....... (oh well, this cure might fail from time to time, but you will surely have it much better in the meanwhile). You might also follow one of the best official advices. Wash your hands and do it many times each day (not only because of this, but do it each and every day). And most of all - don't over-react but use your common sense. | ||||
Every doctor everywhere says that MASKS will NOT prevent you from contracting the corona virus. They only help prevent you from spreading it to others if you're already infected, and even then this is a very minor deterrent. If you were to even use a mask, you would need to use full face respirators that covers you eyes, nose and mouth with minimum charcoal filters. Until you have washed your hands with antibacterial soap/used hand sanitizer do not touch your eyes, mouth or pick your nose/ears after you've touched anything within the public. | ||||
Thanks for the advice Poly. | ||||
I hope you all are doing well, are safe, warm and healthy, and are able to weather this storm. Know if any of you guys need anything, don’t hesitate to reach out and I will do whatever I can. It’s not the end of the world, but it’s certainly changing it. | ||||
I guess no one from our vu community is affected yet or their families! That's good news. | ||||
Im more interested in seeing how people are handling being on lockdown countries like Spain and Italy or China/South Korea. Here in the US it hasnt come down to a full mandatory lockdown but we have closed down most things. Schools/Government/some Businesses have closed down till end of month until further notice. | ||||
Young man aged 21 died in Spain I think, but he had another dangerous illness, from what we understand, deaths were all in cases when people have several medical conditions. Similar to flue for example, human body has enough resistance to overcome it. Just watch out and protect sick and old people. | ||||
Well, all I'm doing is sitting home n taking Lemon juice :P | ||||
Salamon - I heard all of San Francisco is now under a 2 week quarantine. Thankfully I'm on the east coast and my region only has 4 cases (that I'm aware of). One 70 year old died. | ||||
Anyone else in the NYC area? Very strange, never seen the city this empty. Two people I know think they have it/had it (both with a low-grade fever and a cough), but were told to stay home and haven't been tested, which I believe is happening across the US. | ||||
You're probably right Cao. I live in the Hampton Roads are of Virginia. Things are pretty empty here too, compared to the normalcy. | ||||
One of the higher ups at my work got super sick last week and had all the symptoms, but he was refused to the hospital so never got tested. Now a coworker of mine is super sick, and we’re all being asked to work from home as we can out of caution. Out little town is full panic mode already (no one has common sense anymore...), so we’ll see what happens if they actually have the virus. | ||||
I hate being a conspiracy theorist, but both Cao and Percy presents good evidence that they are trying to hide the pandemic. | ||||
Yup all governments are pretty same. | ||||
Well the US is low on testing kits, and unless you are high risk or having a fever of over 101 or difficulty breathing then hospitals rather you stay home to recover than put the staff and others at risk. | ||||
Expanding on Sal’s comment, the CDC is only giving each state so many testing kits per day, and those aren’t going to a random joe who calls in. For example, one of the Utah Jazz players (NBA team) was tested positive like an hour before a game against OKC Thunder started, so they shut down the arena, sent fans home, and used I believe it was 68 of the entire state’s 100 test kits that day on the players and staff. When stuff like that goes on, it’s no wonder cases reported are low and plenty of others who have symptoms could have it, which is why the quarantines are expanding so heavily. They just shut down all entertainment venues in my town today and ordered all restaurants to either close or do carry-out/drive through options for at minimum 2 weeks, so life is about to get real interesting lol | ||||
I read a statement by the Finnish minister of public health two days ago, saying that the true amount of people infected would be ~20-30x as much as the reported amount. And in the Dutch national news, the NOS, earlier today, they said the reported cases were only ~7-8% of all total infections, because every country in the world is currently dealing with a lack of testing kits. Some hospitals here in NL have even begun to develop their own testing kits because of the shortage. Current assumption is that ~60% of our country will be infected before we reach a sufficient level of group immunity to prevent a further spread of the disease. That said, I hope everyone's being smart when shopping, and working from home as much as possible! | ||||
Things got much worse in US & Italy. Stay safe & finger crossed. | ||||
Anyone gone out today? | ||||
Me going outside like | ||||
Mr. Blingtheunbanned: I just can't stop laughing after seeing this :D :D | ||||
i went out and risked it all for 4 rolls of toilet paper... ive been sneezing since i got home... this is my goodbye post if you dont hear from me, sell my stuff for cat rescue foundations | ||||
I’m out every day as I’m in healthcare. It’s scary out there. Growing tired of seeing the mall parking lot full. People are so dumb and that is why this is going to continue spreading sadly. My skin looks like tissue paper I am using so much hand sanitizer. I hope all of you are staying safe and clean! | ||||
damn i miss you guys, just came to check up on VU and see if all are well. same karac, my hands are red on the outside lol i made the mistake of when i was in the kitchen washing my hands with dish soap lmao it doesnt react well to skin xD | ||||
Exalted Evoker Salamon: Drink vitamin C related juice, you need a good immune system to fight with it. Don't worry too much, not everyone affected has high risk. And of course, pray to God :) | ||||
I'll stay to own old cure - it work against everything in the world, even crazy politicians...... Take a good strong stout each evening before sleepingtime - and if you can't sleep after that, take one more. And continue until you sleep or don't care anymore :big-grin: No - a little more serious. Since this is a brand-new kind of influenza, no-one of us are immune. So best advice is to use common sence and as far as possible, follow the advices given (good hygiegne (wash your hands often), use the thin (relative cheap) plasticgloves in the supermarket/gas-stations/where-ever-needed. And keep a good distance to anyone, that you don't share your natural life with. It's going to take very long time before we get back to normal I guess. The authorities (at least in Denmark) says, that before we can consider us "safe" up to 60% of the population need to have been infected. And when the same authorities does what-ever they can to delay the spread of the infection (to avoid the healthcare to break down), this is going to continue for..... many-many months. With less restrictions from time to time and properly also harder restrictions some times. How will this world, our nations and our society look like when the worst is over?????? Well - that's a good question. | ||||
hope you guys are all safe and healthy! | ||||
Berlin has never been so quiet! I'm really lucky that I live in an apartment opposite a park; as long as I social distance - I can go for walks and not get cabin fever. I'm looking forward to the baby boom in nine months! | ||||
That’s become our lives as well haha. We go to work, come home, scrub ourselves and decontaminate the keys, knobs, etc, then we drive to the beach and spend most of our time there alone. I’ve seen a lot of jokes calling the kids conceived during this time the ‘coronials’ haha | ||||
Haha I love that and I will now use that term forever. The coronials. love it. | ||||
saw an article that the younger generation is calling it Boomer Removal, so far this Boomer isn't removed full idiocy happening here in Oregon despite the lockdown, my new weekly game is scavenger hunt at the grocery store how are you all keeping the cabin fever at bay? | ||||
Hey! In Oregon you now have Boober Eats! | ||||
What? What? What? So have you ordered any? | ||||
Have yet to order the boober eats but seems tempting! 😋 | ||||
I have my own boobs, don't need boober eats lol :p but as an FYI they've had the topless coffee stands here forever so if you're driving through you can always get your rahrahs that way too on a less funny note, one of my husband's colleagues has tested positive :( they've been on work for home since the 16th but dunno how this will impact yet | ||||
I hope you and your family will stay safe - hopefully you'll be fine as it's normally a two week incubation and there's no 100% definitive contagious factor from day one - the virus still needs to develop to a substantial level and then not every spit sample will have the virus in it. Be strong! <3 | ||||
On a random note - I think Zeta should advertise this game during Corona virus and offer new players like 10 free BTs at the beginning of the next era for Fantasia (and then again for other realms!). We might drum up some people sticking with the game. If 100 try the game and only 10 stick, that's still positive! | ||||
Lord Caedus: 100 players joined the game. VU server hanged. A few moment later... 150 player lefts vu assuming ZeTa affected by Corona, game died. | ||||
The server wouldn't be able to handle it? That's too bad :( | ||||
I think VU can handle like ~100 active players at once. But that's not the fact, caz you cant bring that much players to stay & play. If you can, you should get a reward :) | ||||
The current server is 10 times faster then the last one, and that one was 10 times faster then the one before it. The limiting factor would probably be memory as the software is 32bit. I think we could handle 5,000 players online before the 4GB memory limit is reached. | ||||
One advantage of living in a small hole is that you rarely meet other people. | ||||
