Everyman Sleep Polyphasic
10:07:33 Jul 26th 11 - Chris (Ms. Nyx):

Anyone here on any version of a Polyphasic Sleep program? I plan to start the everyman one on Saturday, it would be

04:00-08:00
15:00-15:30
22:30-23:00

any feedback about that planned sched or tips from experience or anything would be awesome - also wondering what is a great way to motivate ones self to do it? I think it would be incredible for school but would be difficult to start during the summer :/

Will post from this account usually - just fyi

also - Experience with Coffee?

I wouldn't recommend polyphasic if you plan on being creative and alert throughout the day. Byphasic is a lot better for being all there and keeping your wits about you. Polyphasic keeps you a bit sleep deprived the whole time and are a bit inconsistant, no matter how much you want to do it. :P

better off
04:00-08:00
14:00-15:00

Awesome (: I'll tkae that into consideration. Have you tried either? Also - does coffee or other caffeinated drink affect the pattern much?

I've done a multitude of variations of polyphasic and biphasic sleeps, both on purpose and because I was really busy. Polyphasic *just* barely has you lucid enough to work two jobs, I know for sure. lol

I often do three hours and then two hours, if I get a choice. But I end up doing Something like in your initial post (unwillingly) and the sleep isn't restful at all. Only laying down for about 15-30 minutes just makes you even more exhausted (no time to enter REM sleep, unless you conk out quick. lol)

Thing with caffeine, aside from it being horrid for you, is that, with stimulants you end up crashing after it gets out of your system. So unless you can keep it in you the whole time, until you need sleep, then you'll just conk out or want to.

If you take in too much or take it in for too long, there's a chance your sleep won't be very restful and it'll just wreck your bod, brah. You can actually get addicted to it, because it is a drug. lol

Heard a lot about the biphasic being much better as of recent, maybe I'll try that one. I'm starting on saturday so woohoo! Wish me luck :P

Why would you like to do that?

I've tried

03:30-08:00
15:00-16:30

That way I would have time for two works and training hard. After one week I where totally exhausted, so I stopped.

The sleep is very important because it repairs the brain and send out various hormones that do things with your body. Interrupting it is bad.

If you go on for a long time you will begin to make mistakes, like finding your remote control in the freezer and wondering how it got there.

The important question is why you would want to do it. There are often alternatives that would work better.

You need to allow your body ATLEAST 2 weeks to adjust and learn its new schedule.

The two weeks teaches your brain to enter REM much quicker so more "Brain recovery"

I think the Remote in the Freezer is more of a hangover thing :P

I want to get on such a program to have more time - College student, gamer, 4X4 Addict and holding down three jobs is difficult in 18 hour days.
