Manga help
22:42:10 Jun 18th 08 - Mr. Bruiant:

I know a fair amount of you watch manga/anime, so i was wondering, would any of you be able to help me? And before you think, no i wish not to start watching these.
Iv been asked to make anything i like, but i have to do it in the manga style. the only limitations i have is, it HAS to be painted, on a large piece of wood which has been supplied, and nothing too violent or prolific. as its going up in a school, i was considering the obvious, and having school student/s, but nothing firm has been made yet.
Now, what i need help with is, i have never really taken the time to learn how to draw manga, and i was wondering if any of you have any ideas of where i can look to learn. And yes, i have looked, and am still looking, but not knowing hardly anything about manga/anime, i dont have the faintest of what im looking for.
In advance, for anyone who will give me any pointers, thanks alot. I do have a short period of time, like 2-4 weeks to finish, so the sooner the better.

Mark Crilley? his work/guides are the only ones i found. the rest are Japanese, or just too weird.
they are pretty good, but it dosent actually tell you how to do things, just videos of  his series "Miki falls"
thanks all the same ;)

Draw people with long blue, green, red, pink, or bright gold hair and with HUGE eyes ☺

19:10:26 Jun 19th 08 - Mr. Bruiant:

Hi again Creepin. the art work on them two links are 3D and computer created, the style isnt anime either. The stuff is really nice, but not what im looking for. thanks though ☺
Ernie, thats exactly what im trying to do, but how? only thing i can piece together is that; the eyes have to be huge and below centre, hair has to be the biggest part of the head, and the nose only has to be something simple like a dot, or a line.
well, i have tomorrow and the weekend to get an idea of what im doing.

00:54:13 Jun 20th 08 - Mr. Creepin:

werd that shows how much i kno bout anime haha

10:07:46 Jun 20th 08 - Mr. Bruiant:

oops, i ment manga. i dont have a clue whether or not its anime, but from the little i know, it dosent look like manga.
Mark Crilley's you tube vid's are quite helpful, and the only thing i found worth using so far.

"I know a fair amount of you watch manga/anime, so i was wondering, would any of you be able to help me? And before you think, no i wish not to start watching these."

Maybe this is the problem. Start watching anime, to get a grasp of it.

16:15:17 Jun 20th 08 - Mr. Bezza:

well if its manga style then u should read man*beep*ou can find loads of different manga online at www.onemanga.com

18:27:46 Jun 21st 08 - Mr. Bruiant:

Roxbury, that is not part of the problem. Anime is japanese cartoon made for film the detail is generally quite low, as every picture is seen for what? a maximum of 5-10 seconds, and the artists have to produce many pictures just to make a 30 minute episode. Manga is used to create comics or just to be an individual image, and therefore, the detail has to be much greater.
I admit, i wrote that first bit wrong, the inclusion of anime was irrelevant, and you cant watch manga.
The eyes are also important. if the eyes lack a lot of detail and attention, then me personally dislike the whole image.
The sort of eyes that i really like, are these.">The sort of eyes that i really like, are these." type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350">

Sorry, it went all wrong on the first post, so i kept trying to change it, but it just got worse and worse each time, so i leave it as it is.

21:55:18 Jun 21st 08 - Mr. Roxbury:

Alright.. well if it helps in any way, then I guess u can say that anime characters reflect some of the self image problems the japs seems to have. They draw the huge eyes, despite japanese people having small eyes, a small pointy nose, the hair is brightly coloured despite asians having black, and I think the constant big hair thing is as opposed to short hair that is a small childrens hair cut over there.

If you draw hentai instead, will you get in trouble?

11:38:37 Jun 22nd 08 - Duke Elmo The Opmonkey:

Your best option is to read some manga's and rip off something, bezza gave you a good link earlier.

12:24:17 Jun 22nd 08 - Mr. Bruiant:

i wont get in trouble, but the art teacher ill be working with, is better at manga.
Well, thanks for all the help, but i think i know the sort of layout ill be having.
