Ok everybody I want to to write me a reveiw about something...... Has to be more than 150 words long. The best will get a small useless prize.
wow, i think ill win this one. (gets excited) Type 2 diabetes is a growing health problem in our society today. The diagnosis of diabetes is associated with adverse cardiovascular prognosis and is considered the risk equivalent of established coronary disease. Many of the common cardiovascular conditions, such as coronary disease, congestive heart failure, hypertension, and the metabolic syndrome, are associated with insulin resistance and increased risk for the future development of type 2 diabetes. Several studies have suggested that angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors and angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) may decrease the incidence of new-onset type 2 diabetes. Investigators from the Mid America Heart Institute (Kansas City, Missouri)[1] performed a large meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials that assessed either ACE inhibitors and/or ARBs for the prevention of new-onset type 2 diabetes mellitus. The meta-analysis consisted of 13 randomized controlled clinical trials of ACE inhibitors or ARBs. Of the 13 studies that met criteria for entering the meta-analysis, 6 used ACE inhibitors and 7 used ARBs. These trials involved 125,356 patients, of whom 90,474 did not have diabetes at baseline. ACE inhibitors and ARBs were compared with placebo, diuretics, beta-blockers, or calcium channel antagonists in these various studies. New-onset diabetes was generally defined using the American Diabetes Association criteria of fasting plasma glucose >/= 126 mg/dL at 2 different visits (without a history of diabetes at the time of enrollment in the study). The reduction in risk of new-onset diabetes was 24% for ACE inhibitors, 23% for ARBs, and 23% for the pooled analysis which included all of the studies (ARBs and ACE inhibitors). Confidence in the relative risk for the pooled analysis was 0.77, with confidence intervals of .71 to .83. This meta-analysis suggests that ACE inhibitors and ARBs may play an important role in the prevention of type 2 diabetes. Of the 13 trials in the meta-analysis, only 1 -- the Valsartan Antihypertensive Long-term Use Evaluation (VALUE)[2] trial, included new-onset diabetes as a prespecified endpoint. The VALUE trial involved over 15,000 hypertensive patients who were randomized to either valsartan (an ARB) or amlodipine (a calcium antagonist). The overall results of VALUE demonstrated that the use of valsartan reduced the incidence of new-onset type 2 diabetes by 23%, a number that was identical to the risk reduction noted in the pooled analysis of 13 trials.The mechanisms of action whereby the ACE inhibitors and ARBs prevent type 2 diabetes are speculative. ACE inhibitors and ARBs do lead to an improvement in skeletal muscle blood flow. The skeletal muscles are the primary target for insulin action and endpoint determinant of glucose uptake. This therapy effectively increases the surface area for glucose exchange between the vascular bed and the skeletal muscles and may in part account for the reduction in new-onset type 2 diabetes mellitus patients treated with ACE inhibitors or ARBs. Currently no pharmacologic agent is approved for preventing type 2 diabetes. Additional trials are under way which should further clarify the role of ACE inhibitors and ARBs in type 2 diabetes prevention. I hope you like it and I hope you get high grades for it.
Well thats very interesting: How about a reveiw on a book or a game next time...
The difference in hardware between the PlayStation 2 and the PlayStation 3 means that the FIFA games for each console are now handled by completely different teams, each with its own aims. The PS3 team is desperate to show off the horsepower of the console, whereas the PS2 team is so comfortable with the hardware that it's their job to try out new ideas. Although the PS2 version of FIFA 08 doesn't play that much differently than last year's game, the developers have introduced a number of cool new features, new control touches, and all the expected roster updates. If you're a football fan that prefers fast-paced arcade gameplay, you can't go far wrong with FIFA 08 In terms of the core gameplay, FIFA 08 doesn't feel that much different from its predecessor. It's been refined slightly, and now it's a little more difficult and even faster than ever. It's worth noting that although the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of FIFA 08 have been slowed down to almost simulation level, the PS2 version is still frantically paced. The artificial intelligence isn't quite as dynamic, particularly when it comes to defending, but this leaves the game more open to midfield battles and reasonably large scorelines. The improvements to the gameplay come in the form of new manual controls that let you better adjust the direction and power of passes and crosses. Passes are now dependent on the direction in which you hold the left analogue stick or D pad (depending on your chosen control system) as well as the length of time you hold the X button. These factors are useful once you become familiar with the system, given that they can really make the difference when you're making a break, but novices aren't left out either--the AI is usually clever enough to know who you want to pass to. You can now also choose to bring the goalkeeper out and control him yourself with the right analogue stick, which is very useful when you're one-on-one with a striker. And if you can predict a shot and hit the triangle button as it's made, there's a good chance you'll save the ball. There are also some nice new tricks that let you fool human players by misdirecting free kicks. If you press the L3 button when taking a free kick on goal, the camera will lock in its current position while you continue to aim the shot by moving left and right. Because of the blind nature of this aiming scheme, the controller will vibrate while you're aiming toward the post, which gives you a good indication of where you need to go. The system isn't perfect, given that the added time it takes is usually a giveaway of what you're up to, but it's still a tactic that advanced players will want to use. The same technique can be used for throw-ins to you make it look as if you're going to throw to one player when you're really aiming for another. On the new features side, the chief addition is the Be-a-Pro cooperative mode. This mode lets two to four people play as individual members of the same team, and together you work your way through a season with teamwork and cooperative play. You can choose to play either as real-world players or, as the game recommends, create your own. The player-creation tool lets you change most aspects of your player's appearance, from his weight and facial details through to the type of sweatband and socks he wears. Is that ok for you? it took my an hour and a half, i was playing at the same time and my mates have it on diffent consoles so thats how i know that bit :) I have it on ps2 :( xbox360 and ps3 are so much better

Review for Dead Rising: Have you ever wanted to kill hordes of zombies without infecting your whole town? Then you're in luck! Dead Rising gives you just that! You take the role of Frank West and you can use many objects as weapons, such as katanas, shotguns, and...water guns. You can use pretty much anything as a weapon, and many weapons can break down into better weapons, for example: you go around smashing zombie brains with a push broom, eventually the push broom breaks and creates a very sharp stick, you can then use it as a spear to kill more zombies. Weapons and skills can be upgraded with books. You can make a chainsaw with a lifespan of around 30 kills upgrade to a chainsaw with a lifespan of 5000 kills! Dead Rising is a fun game with a lot of fun things to do.
Not an advertisment, a review, also 150 word or more...
at least I didn't steal it...
But it's not a review either.......
What's it for? | ||||
