Some game called Mount & Blade. Looks descent, 2008, yet neve heard of. Any one here knows it? Recomendations? Should I download it?

I've posted something about this game years ago on the forums, way back when it was still in very early beta It was a very good game but the whole gameplay has been screwed with and it's become less and less of an rpg. The game is still pretty good though and it's different to any other game you'll see. Theres lots of mods that are being made for the game all the time which is pretty good.

You can choose to just simply play as a merchant and go around buying stuff cheap and seling things expensive. You can go around as a bounty hunter and collect bounties. You can hire other men to help you out. Both you and your men can gain experience on the battlefeild. You can become and vessal for a king when you become famous across the land. When you become a vessal, you'll be given a town or city of your own, if your lucky, even a few of em. You can spend money to build up your cities and towns and you can collect taxes from your people who live there. If you are not a vessal, then you can start up a rebel kingdom by hiring lots of troops and then taking over a city or castle. You can also do more than this too.

Hopefully once the beta's are over, you'll be able to use your companions (kinda like hero's) as generals or vassels and do what you can do, going around hiring people, taking over cities and more

The game just hit the 1.003 version and is pretty much done. Its a great game. Absolutely fantastic. It has a demo, but it only lets you go to level 6/7. Its really worth it. The latest versions have added loads of good things, making the game a lot better. The combat is also very exciting and fun. Battles have a size of 70 max or so, but there is a battlesizer mod that lets you get battles with hundreds of men at the same time, which is really great to see.

What also is a great thing about the game is that there is a big community that develops mods. This can be small improvements to tweak gameplay, but some are almost a game on its own. If you are bored with Native, then those Mods offer a lot of fun to. However due that the game has just gotten a newer version most Mods aren't yet converted to the latest version, but that will come. Some of the Mods are really worth it and are way better then Native.

Probablly the last time I went on the RP forums once I realized that no one would join this.

Anyways, can't advise you to get Mount and Blade enough, it's coming out as a game soon. THe calvary in this game is really good and impressive I don't usually like calvary fights but this wasn't to bad. Sieges were pretty impressive as was the claiment system.

Thanks, it is really interesting. Gameplay is more than impressive. Really haven't seen anything like it, a hybrid of Diablo-like and Sid Meier's Pirates but at the same time 3rd person battles...

Same, used to try and be a knight but my horse would always become lame haha :/

So stuck with a bow eventually. I'ma google it now infact!

I'm a cheapskate and currently poor, so anyone know whether I can download it? Don't fancy looking through torrents :P

Just download the game from the site and then search through chinese or japanese websites with a translator and you'll find a crack for it in no time.

Raist showed me this game quite awhile ago, and I fell in love... but it has a major flaw... it will bug at some point, and you will lose it all. It sucks, so don't get as attatched as I did :P

hehe i recently downloaded this game and wow its changed! there used to be only 2 factions, swadians and veagirs but nows there way more :) and you can take over cities and castles! yummy :) thank you ragnarr for reminding me about this game :) now me and my tiny city and army will rule the world :)

It's to bad it's not Multiplayer. Not that it doesn't make sense with multiplayer this game would be very *beep*ed up.

I remember this gameback in the beggining it's really improved. Though your not going to find any magic in this game, it's very realistic.

I found the game extremely cool. At first I started helping out the Nords, but then realized that the Vaergis are way cooler (they have a shocking resemblance with the Slavic Rus' tribes)!

Have you supported a Claiment yet? Or for that matter worked on making your own Faction?

I dont know how it is now, as I played an older version, but making your own Faction is very hard due the fact that you are the only Lord. Hopefully they fixed that in the newer version though and allow you to get new Lords or convince others of your cause.

Supporting a Claimant works a lot better. You need to convince the other Lords of your cause and most of the time you can divide the Faction. Thing is they are all appealed by different reasons and they will notice if you give every Lord a different answer, so thats nicely done :) After you get rid of the old Faction, the Rebellion will become the new normal Faction and everything will be as it was before, except that you can divide the Castles, towns and cities yourself (And Lords get pissed when they don't get any) In the older version I played, garrison tended to not restock when a castle / city was taken, which made the end very hard to defend. Again, hopefully they fixed that in the newer version. It was a known bug.

Better watch out for anti piracy organisations who are using peer to peer programs. If they get your ip, they'll complain to your isp. And then you'll likely get fined and put on a special internet connection where you'll get surveillanced
