07:41:45 May 10th 10 - Mr. Zero:

Hello Hello Hello all of VU! :) Your friendly Salamon stepping in to check if anyone still plays EU2? I do realize that there is an EU3, but you know what, EU2 is more my taste (even tho i do play EU3 more now :P)

Well be using Hamachi and ill be hosting... i am free on summer break so will have alot of time to spend playing with anyone (maybe even more than one game if people have the time :P)

If you have no idea what this game is but would like to be part of the fun, then follow the directions below.

On a side note, I am trying to find a few more maps which we can play, maybe different time periods like the Greek Era or Medieval Era... ill let you know what i uncover later on.

08:44:17 May 10th 10 - Mr. Tyrgalon:

There have been several games hosted during the eras, so people are still playing it. It came back alive maybe some 5+ eras ago?

09:07:44 May 10th 10 - Mr. Zero:

yes, im sure that the Europeans have been playing the game on a constant basis, but im betting the Americans havent even reinvented this side of the hemisphere's EU community. This all has to do with Ping and Timing ofcourse, the fact that there needs to be a US EU community is because of the hour difference and ping while hosting makes it more annoying to play with Euros (and vice versa)

So if there are any americans or canadians willing to play :) please let me know ... i cant wait to try my luck in mulitplayer once more :) ive gotten quite good in single player imo :p

14:05:58 May 10th 10 - Mr. Path:

I played this game to death when it came out.  I remember when the first EU game came out I picked it up at the computer store when I was there buying the latest everquest expansion.  Then later I picked up EU2 under similar circumstances.  This makes EU1 and EU2 some of the only legitimately owned non MMORPG games I have.

You guys may not know me that well, but trust me, when I actually spend money on a game, that means its freakin awesome.  I don't believe id actually have time to play with you guys however : /

15:42:44 May 10th 10 - Mr. Zero:

yeah i definitly plan on order this game later on :P as a momento :P

15:42:47 May 10th 10 - Emperor Gaius Septimus Cidellus:

I have EU2 and I live in the US, but I suck at EU2 still and doubt I'd last long if I played. My free time is also limited, and I don't know when I'll have it. Sorry, I'd play and get my ass kicked if I could. XD

16:58:55 May 10th 10 - Mr. Hema Fanboy:

All the US guys I know absolutely sucked at EU2. No nouse for tactics, strategic or basic understanding of the game. AKA they all played like Might.

EU >

17:37:43 May 10th 10 - Mr. Zero:

what do you mean "ALL the US guys" -.- dont start this up again -.- its been like two years... honestly... get over it... dont let one person ruin the creditability of everyone... besides are you assuming i suck? as if... its not even that hard -.- the only managing part is you being sure to keep your BB and inflation down and youll be fine...

Anyhow, as im on summer break i can manage around limited times to play so :P

17:48:05 May 10th 10 - Mr. Tyrgalon:

Its pretty simple to play, but to be good is another thing. Never played against humans since I had no good Internet when I played it, but owned the comp on hardest settings possible, did it with some sucky countries too lol. In the end I just tried to play in a more difficult way by being aggressive and warring all my neighbours.

17:59:27 May 10th 10 - Mr. Ixis:

<<is Rhade.  I'm a US player but I'm in Europe until July.  Does this mean I can play in both games? :D

As I recall the last game I played with Europeans I was pwning until I had to duck out.  Then the European who replaced me absolutely destroyed Brittany :(

I'm up for starting a game.  I've never noticed too bad of a ping problem, especially through hamachi.  I'd eventually get back to the States, anyway.

18:18:25 May 10th 10 - Mr. Zero:

Hey rhade, sure thing, just join the #useu2 channel :P well try out the ping (i think it usually depends on the players connectivity...) :P if your in thats 3-4 people so far :p

Anyone else who is interested update the list :P

Interested List:
Salamon
Rhade
Polydeuces

haha anyone whose rusty :P practice >.<

00:13:04 May 11th 10 - Ms. Cute Fluffie Purple Bunnie Gal:

Wut are you thinking with those instructions, Salamon?

12:46:45 May 11th 10 - Mr. Vuggy:

How do you play and wtf is it?

15:35:06 May 11th 10 - Mr. Tyrgalon:

Europa Universalis 2, old but awesome game. History based game where you can control any country that has existed before WW1 (about), there are some chosen time periods from where you can pick from. There are also loads of modes made by outsiders, enabling many more periods and countries.

16:47:33 May 11th 10 - Mr. Osiris:

only the greatest multiplayer game ever made ^^

17:28:40 May 11th 10 - Mr. Tyrgalon:

well there are many kinds of multiplayer games :)
I Would say that EU2 is the best historical strategy (multiplayer) game.
There are many multiplayer games that are good, but the genres are so different that you canīt compare them.

19:05:17 May 11th 10 - Mr. Zero:

http://www.pcigre.com/content/view/12443/42/

heres a mini guide for those who are just starting out and need a few jumpstart tips on how to play... it covers key points on inflation, stability, revolts and alliances which are some of the core problems that usually prohibit new players from continuing on... good luck everyone :)

14:27:20 May 12th 10 - Mr. Tyrgalon:

Yeah I had the same problems when I started, theres a lot of good advice there.

21:34:42 May 12th 10 - Mr. Zero:

yeah its pretty decent, i only skimmed it since i knew almost all of it ....

the full manual of eu2 is here... in pdf format...

http://www.vpltd.com/freedownload/IGEU2.pdf

if uve read the previous link, then u can skip a few things, i propose reading page 13, where terrain and army units are discussed, which can be easily ignored if youve never taken the time to realize that the different color lands have a purpose in correlation with army units... :)

02:54:21 May 13th 10 - Mr. Vuggy:

The guide's font alone made it look too confusing... not big enough and too hard to read. Dx

04:18:59 May 13th 10 - Mr. Zero:

really? i thought it was times new roman ... the traditional font :P hahah >.< anyhow...

Rhade, me, and Poly are thinking of doing a game around 8 pm friday night (EST)... anyone game for it please post if youll be joining and what country you want....

07:35:24 May 13th 10 - Emperor Gaius Septimus Cidellus:

What about the Byzantines!? Them and their single province will own you all!

16:13:24 May 13th 10 - Mr. Ixis:

I say Septim gets the Byzantines :)  I'm sure we can work out a deal where I don't ream you...

19:06:40 May 13th 10 - Mr. Tyrgalon:

lol :P

04:46:10 May 15th 10 - Mr. Zero:

lol i just realized something while working with rhade ... i forgot to put down that you need Daemon tools to run the cd image >.< haha ok here it goes...

Daemon tools

After dling EU2, dl this and install it.... afterwards right click on the bolt icon then mount the image... (this should launch the install feature for the game, in which youll have to look for the crack inside the cd rom (by licking open/explore in the cd-drive on your computer) and copy paste it into the strategy first folder...

19:45:23 May 15th 10 - Mr. Gear:

You wouldn't need to download Daemon Tools if you purchased the game like a constructive member of society.

19:49:19 May 15th 10 - Mr. Tyrgalon:

EU2 might be hard to get, its a very old game...and you get all nice of nice extra stuff like custom maps etc etc that you canīt get by buying the game.

19:56:02 May 15th 10 - Mr. Zero:

http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-PDXEU2/europa-universalis-ii

19:57:41 May 15th 10 - Mr. Tyrgalon:

depends on where you live.
