I walk through the forests of my homeland. A novel smell assaults my nostrils and piques my interest: prey.

I stride in the shadows, feeling driven; pulled. I couldn't stop myself if I wanted, too, though in truth, I don't want to.

Moving forward, my breathing becomes unsteady, my balance off-kilter. I'm getting closer. My steady stride breaks into an enthusiastic trot. It's difficult to maintain control.

My vision blurs for a moment. Blinking and rubbing, it slowly comes into focus. The only thing in sight is prey. I take note not to be heard, noticed. I slide behind a tree and circle around.

My steps are calm, my mind cool, my movements calculated.

I come in from behind and extend my steady palms, almost unable to bear the pressure.

I make contact and feel something give way. A subtle snap. A collapse of weight.
