Enough of this bollox
00:44:08 Aug 8th 08 - Mr. Gottabe:

Just signed up to post this, then I'll be gone.  Really for good this time.

Lady G and I have just been deleted for too many accounts and we don't want this to reflect on the Dharans so a little explanation seems in order.

We've both played since around era 13 and, after about 8 months, we ended up moving in together.  We've shared an IP address since then and made sure that Zeta was aware.

We even held a "VU Wedding" in our PKS days, which those of you around at the time may remember was posted on here and on the PKS site that I was running at the time, complete with photos of BOTH of us (tastefully made-up as a Trolls incidentally).

Over the past few months, we've also donated around 150 between us to his pocket, from two different Paypal accounts.

Despite all this, just on the basis of a shared IP we've now been deleted - no probs to us cos we can walk away, but not good for our KD mates who've just had two of their strongest players disappear without warning.

While this is happening, known genuine and serial multis are ignored, even when they're "outed" on here with clear evidence.  That's a crock of shyte Zeta - if you don't want players, how about a refund on those donations?

No, didn't think so.

01:07:08 Aug 8th 08 - Mr. Black:

yeah this sucks man, especially after giving him all that cash!

weve dropped loads in the kingdom list, MAD are like 140% now!

arent you gonna restart?

01:16:16 Aug 8th 08 - VU Admin:

That sucks. I'm going through all accounts right now and everyone is judged with the same criteria and it doesn't matter how much you have donated.

I wish you good lock with your marriage.

01:40:55 Aug 8th 08 - Mr. Squiddy:

Well that criteria seems to be a load of *beep*e, this guy seems genuine.

I'm guessing it was this same criteria that deleted my two inactive ex vices as well? I didn't realise you deleted accounts on the basis of not playing for a little over 3 weeks or so. I can personally guarantee that they were not multying, or being multied.

Oh and Zeta... tut tut at laughing at the Genocide thread : /

01:42:01 Aug 8th 08 - Mr. Jon:

While it is a good idea to judge everyone with the same criteria, people that are pretty much proven to NOT be multis should be "safe-listed" in some way.

01:48:42 Aug 8th 08 - Sir Soc Innewyork:

wow, what a blow to the game. zeta is surely losing it..............but D, maybe if u hadn't changed ur name he would have known ;)

01:53:25 Aug 8th 08 - Mr. Gottabe:

An IP address really isn't any "criteria" at all.  Especially seeing as anyone can run through proxies to have as many IP addresses as they want.  There's enough browsers out there that you could easily set up half a dozen accounts like that and never be detected by such a stone-age test!

At very least, given the number of home networks in use now, they should be supplemented by cookie info to identify individual computers - still not exactly foolproof but soooo easy to implement and a big improvement on the current sledgehammer approach!

edited to add:  my account name has remained constant, Soc - just the ruler name that changed ;)

02:01:47 Aug 8th 08 - Sir Soc Innewyork:

but that's what i meant! gottabe just sounds like somme nublet, i would delete him too! :)

now, a Mr. Donut would be a different story!

02:08:51 Aug 8th 08 - Mr. Gottabe:

Was meant to be Gottabe Joking but some of it got lost in the system :(

And can't see much point in restarting, Mr B.  Always the risk of the same happening again after all .........

02:13:07 Aug 8th 08 - Lord Kevdwayne:

Mr Gottabe it is regrettable that your account was deleted, this incident only further illuminates the problems VU is having in the monitoring of players.  It seems odd to me that so many unscrupulous players can squeeze through the gaping holes while one, long term legitimate player gets deleted.  So, what exactly is the criteria for deletion?  I am a bit confused...... (watch me get deleted for this one)   ;)

02:20:32 Aug 8th 08 - Mr. Gottabe:

Not sure, Lord K, but it seems to come down to an IP address check and pot-luck beyond that.  About as scientific as burning someone at the stake because their neighbour pointed at them and shouted "Witch!"

edited to add:  only, if you point and shout "Multie" with proof (even if they admit it openly on here at times!) then nothing happens!

02:21:32 Aug 8th 08 - Mr. Ruby Knight:

I'm not dissing Mr. Gottabe/Donut in anyway, just want to point out a fact.... Anybody could fake a wedding on here to get rid of suspicion against them. Anybody can come on here and fake this topic to get sympathy.. Which is the reason Zeta has to stick to what he's doing without any regard for personal feelings... ^Legal view of things, not exactly my personal feeling on it but thats why Zeta has to do it

02:29:39 Aug 8th 08 - Mr. Gottabe:

But equally, on the basis of "what Zeta does", I could have 5 or 6 accounts running by tonight which he would never detect.  An IP check really does prove nothing at all.  It's probably the single most over-rated and misunderstood feature of t'internet ever!!!

Hell of a lot easier to set up a few proxies than consistently  "fake" stuff for sympathy over a matter of nearly 3 rl years.

So "what he does", doesn't do anything at all to solve a multi problem but does cause problems for a lot of genuine players.

02:39:10 Aug 8th 08 - Mr. Uttkarsh Bhardwaj:

umm brother just wanted to play this game as he made a new account...i told him to play in a different world than me so we both dont get banned...even after playing in different worlds his account got deleted today...Now we are both pi$$ed cause one of us have to give up Vu...that sucks man...and Mr. Gottabee i really feel srry for u m8...even tho vu admin said that :
"That sucks. I'm going through all accounts right now and everyone is judged with the same criteria and it doesn't matter how much you have donated."....i think it does...

02:57:33 Aug 8th 08 - Mr. Squiddy:

Regardless of how Zeta felt about it, if the guy has already told him about his situation, then why is he deleting him now and basically giving a typical comment, which reminds me a lot of politicians, saying, "sorry mate, nothing I can do." Says the Admin of the game..

03:10:26 Aug 8th 08 - Mr. Uttkarsh Bhardwaj:

03:23:57 Aug 8th 08 - Mr. Air:

What is the criteria zeta?
Carbon told me he didnt play on any other worlds

As long as that is true, it wouldnt give an unfair advantage if he logged on hes main account just to check messages..

03:32:47 Aug 8th 08 - Mr. The Gladiator:

If he was crazy enough to pay 150$ to this game no doubt that he could be crazy enough to have multiple accounts because the two are a form of cheating - Buying bonus turns as well as having multiple accounts.

Good decision Vu Admin to judge everyone on the same criteria

03:46:19 Aug 8th 08 - Praetorian Wyzer:

Mr. The Gladiator

Gladiator, I usually don't counter the things you say but this is pretty far fetched, even from you.  As by your criteria above, then having money, donating, purchasing BT's, and Zeta is the one selling them, are all a form of cheating?  Just think about where this game would be without that extra income.

Donut, sorry to here about the deletions of you and yours accounts.  Next time even if you do inform the proper "authorities", might I suggest, like others have, using proxies?

04:02:30 Aug 8th 08 - Mr. Jon:

By the way, it was 150 EUROS... which is quite a bit more than $150 =]

06:53:52 Aug 8th 08 - Mr. Facepalm:

To add to the IP thing being way overrated and easy to bypass. I created my own Proxy server and before people start flaming me no that does not mean that I'm multiying it just means that my school has gotten really good at blocking sites including other proxies(they block VU :( too).

So yeah I could create a fair amount of accounts using  proxies.

07:55:28 Aug 8th 08 - Duke Loren Soth:

I would suggest having just one account to avoid any complications.. but I must be old fashioned like that ;)

08:43:11 Aug 8th 08 - Mr. Uttkarsh Bhardwaj:

proxies all the way!!...jking =]

09:36:13 Aug 8th 08 - Duke Argyle:

I thought proxies was detectable, and when a big old kingdom used it to play on eachothers account, some of them got deleted...

10:54:22 Aug 8th 08 - Mr. Hilario:

the so-called catch-the-Multi-Account rule in VU have problems.

it is based on activities of IPs (proxy or not) logged in VUs logbook (somewhere inside the server). Like all logs, it has size limit. So, when a multi sweep routine is executed... only the latest activities of accounts present in the logs will be evaluated. At most 2-4days of activity logs of accounts are passed in a series of test or if..then..else procedures.

pages you clicked and buttons you pressed will be sorted by IPs and then by usernames with activity dates and times... some IPs who have more than a set of usernames in a given span of time will become a candidate for deletions, just for example. Proxies are often victims of such test.

*disclaimer, i dont know how to by pass the multi sweep, so dont ask me why i have this idea. i too were victims of deletions in the past. ;)

10:58:03 Aug 8th 08 - Mr. Hilario:

this is bugged... i cant still post even it is locked.

10:59:20 Aug 8th 08 - Mr. Hilario:
