Variation in this game is important to keep up the great spirit. This thread is all about the development of the worldmap (current is manxmap).

What I'm looking for are brushes (different appz since people use different), backgrounds, ideas and other things. Maybe some discussions over why for example the donut map was bad or why we really can't use the zetea map .

Maybe such a simple thing as a pasted piece of the current map with pure forests would be good for people who want to try to create a map? Everything of value is wanted!

map each era would be a pretty tough job for zeta to keep up with on top of everything he has to do
com'on th era ends friday and usually starts the following sunday with all updates etc he must work around the clock for us as it is :)

I do agree with Hanky, not change to often, and if there should be a change it should be really good, hence this thread. Anyone have a opinion about the forests, if they should look all the same, or if there should be like now with both coniferous trees and deciduous forests or just one of them. is it possible to make ps brushes with trees?

Anyway, It would be hard for him to contnually make new maps, I meen I would love it as much as any other person but ZeTa would die at the keyboard lol, plus Unit images to come soon, forests, lighter and darker trees to be brought in I hope, would give it a little change, more bridges I hope, the map needs a little tweak I agree

Zeta has an artist who does the maps now; I talked with him about them a month or two ago when he hung around the chat.

I really hope there's a new map in time for next era though.

Uhh, Zeta seems a bit low on mountains, I'd like to see a few more.  Donut would be interesting, especially if instead of making the map a 3x3 or 4x4 of tiles, have only one tile and have it be huge.  That way you have to fight.  You cant hide behind blockers, at least not easily.  It would spice up the game alot...

i think he use the java script for the game , the grafics as i think are photos added to the script in order to make the game..........

how bout we just combine all the maps.

Put the maps that we have now with these maps so that as you go further into a different direction, the maps begin to change. Would add ALOT more spice to the game and wouldbe hard to master for those ppl who ever era, pick out the same spot and hide behind there blockers.

I agree.  I think it is silly when people "NEED" all available resources around.  Fighting for certain areas could make it interesting.

Yeah, but imagine you land OOP far away from the mountains, and by the time you can get to the nearest one, another kd has already claimed the area AND has the extra gold, so it easily beats you back... doesn't sound all that fun to me.

The "donut" map had holes in the mountains with invisible passages. It wasn't a very fun map to play on either

The red dots disappear when moving across the invisible passage. It was in the south western corner if I recall.

And it was just a boring map, that's why it wasn't fun.

Zetea map has a island. So it cant be used.

Lacewing.  Well say you don't land next to mountains but near forests instead.  The kingdom who has a lot of gold and stone might be lacking other resources that are needed.  Also, if you a dwarf whore then you might think twice about picking the race.  Cause you are not always going to be near EVERY resource.

But maybe you are right.  A lot of people like repetitive things.  Change is often a bad thing for most that are great at just following an easy certain path that is always laid out for them.

We don't need a new map every era. All that is really needed is a rotation like it used to be years ago. 3-4 maps and a change every era. And then occasionally a new one to spice it up ;-) this game has lots of potential with different terrains

The thing about this map is that the trees are spread more evenly than the mountains.  A kd should not need to rely on the market for economic progress.

Imagine playing chess, except here is a slight twist:  each player loses 3 random pieces.  If you lose a queen, rook, and bishop, and the enemy just happens to lose a couple pawns and one other piece, you're in an unfavorable situation.

A map change is something different.. i think its good.

but exchanging overview of your city and armies to replace it with pictures?
Cant we get a setting on wich we can decide wether we want overvieuw or pictures?
