Adventurers Discovering

Does anyone have a clear idea as to the chances, based upon experience and numbers, that adventurers have to discover something?

And is it global? I.e. if I have 3 armies with experienced advents in them, do they each have a separate chance of discovering something, or is there still just a single chance every turn.
