| 00:45:49 May 2nd 22 - Princess Shelob: While back talking to some guys I said I am using my own laptop at work for VU and few other things in off times at work, and then someone said you need to learn about anonymous way of work. So I started using that But now that I look what it does It tells me Your browser history will not be saved cookies and web locations will not be saved data I put in forms But it also says Activities can still be seen: web sites you visit your employer or your school and your internet service provider So what does anonymous method do, when my employer can see it all? | ||||

| 01:34:32 May 2nd 22 - Percy (Mr. Percy The Range Test Officer): I’m by no means an expert on this, and I welcome others to chime in and correct with better info. But from my knowledge, all that “Private Browsing” does is prevent data from being stored on your device, making it difficult to find what you’ve been searching when looking on your computer directly. However, the internet provider can, by default, always see what you’re doing at any time. They “provide” the link to the internet, which means they can monitor all traffic involved with it. When I’m on remote sites for work, we have to be mindful of anything we search as ALL browsing (even from your cell network) is monitored by the feds as they are providing the towers in these super isolated areas. This means even mobile web searches are actively monitored and restricted as well. Essentially: if you’re on their WiFi, they can see all web traffic and know what device ID initiated the traffic, though would need to do some work to identify who’s computer it was in particular. “Private mode” just prevents on-device logging, but does nothing to hide from the ISPs. The best way to do that is to use a VPN, which acts as a middleman between your computer and the ISP allowing an encrypted data “tunnel” that ISPs and other entities can’t meaningfully monitor. Others can speak to specifics on that better than I though, that’s just about all I know about the subject lol | ||||

You can either play via smartphone using mobile network (disconnect from WiFi) or set up mobile hotspot to open VU on your computer via mobile network. Private or Incognito Window on your browser does really nothing. Except as mentioned doesn't save history on your computer locally. | ||||
| 11:49:58 Aug 28th 22 - ZeTa (VU Admin): "anonymous way of work", as other have assumed - I assume this is "incognito mode" aka "private window". If it's your own computer this is not really needed. And if it's someone else's computer they can check your history anyway, like logging all key presses, etc. As for what your internet service provider (ISP) or whoever owns the WiFi can see, they can see all unencrypted traffic. But now a days most traffic is encrypted. For example if you see https:// (with an s) it means that the traffic is encrypted. With httpS they can however still see what sites you visit, and when you visit them, but not the data you download or upload. If you however use a company provided computer all bets are off, just assume no privacy. Also if you login to work Google or Microsoft account from your private computer/smartphone the company will gain some control over your computer/smartphone! My advice is to not do anything work related on your private computer. And don't do any private stuff on a company provided computer. If you think your employee will have something against the sites you visit don't access the company wifi and use the smartphone data connection instead. | ||||
