I have a story that I would absolutely love to see publicized!

A month and a half ago, three SLC Police officers and two DCFS Case workers knocked on my door asking to 'speak' with my 2 year old daughter, Deija. By the grace of the Gods, it just so happened that my daughter was visiting her Grandma in Park City at the time, which I relayed to the group on my porch - When asked if they could come inside and 'talk', I thought briefly about the joint I had just lit (and set in the ashtray), and promptly asked them to come back at a later date. Tricky buggers, they pulled out that 'I have a warrant' farce, and I confused myself into a house full of unfriendly authority. (I did have a warrant, of course - for an unpaid traffic ticket)

Turned out they were there on a VERY false, very sobering accusation: That I was dealing coke and meth out of my house, in Front of my daughter (!), and exposing her to toxic chemicals!!
This was about the point where I got stupidly-rightous and gave them permission to Please search my house, Please search everything, Please look around and prove beyond reasonable doubt that the only drug In my house or in my life was marijuanna.

Bad Cayla, right? Bad.

Eventually, they left- After notifying me that my Mom had been contacted and would be keeping my daughter indeffinantly until further notice. (I could visit Deija in a week or two mabey?! Supervised visitations!?)

This was a month and a half ago.

Yesterday, for the first time sence my daughter was so violently ripped out of my life, I got confirmation of my own feelings and understanding of the situation - from DCFS Themselves, specifically. And the situation is NOT okay. It became too big for me to handle the last few days, with my case worker ordering me to check into Odyssy House (18 month inpatient institutional program for criminal mothers)

Did I forget to mention that I have not gone to DCFS court? Because my DCFS case worker did! (forget to mention it, that is)  how l would I know what that even means or does not mean in regaurds to myself, my child?) I have no judge? my weed charge went thru court, but the judge didnt even know I was a parent let alone that there was dcfs involvement in the case. No order to date, no LEGAL involvement regaurding my daughter or where she can or can not be? and i got this Sandy woman telling me that her word is law. there is no record of her word...

Yesterday I spoke with the Administrative Director (DCFS). I recounted my case - The initial police incident, how my daughter wasnt even home when I got blindsided, my past and present cooperation - everything.
He told me this, among other things (it was a lonnggg phone call) - 'There is NO way that DCFS would be able to take a child away in these circumstances. Even if your child was there in the same room as you while you were smokeing weed, they could not have relocated her or set ANY paramaters - theres no way.'

To make a long story slightly shorter, I was reffered to numerous other Supervisors, Directors, and Directors supervisors. I even biked downtown and had a two hour conference with my case manager's boss.

What I know is this - I havnt spent more than two hours a WEEK with my daughter in a month and a half.
DCFS is acting above and beyond there jurisdiction. I'll not specify the lies I've sorted through - Who was it that told me that I dont have custody? Because I have a DCFS name and number to a gentleman who would say differently.

DCFS Workers are acting without merit, against there own LEGALY DEFINED case manuals, and without supervision!!!

((It is 75% possible that there is no story here, just a girl who feels like this entire situation is as big as the earth could ever be... A girl who WAS 2 years sober from quitting the needle cold-turkey, a girl who had a nice house and nice things and a luxuriously happy family of two...I am nothing, If not a mother. ... My life is dust and ashes and filth. my child is gone.))

((I will skip the gritty little details, the main body of bullshit that comes with suddenly being separated from the most important thing in the world. I'll spare you details about how many miles I had to bike each day to get to the pee testing place, of the whole rehab runaround.))

Take your story out there, beyond internet forums. Take it to the newspapers, radio, tv, whatever is possible. When the camera's are watching, people tend to be more coöperative than ussual. If not this, then I hope you'll at least find a way to get your girl back. Best of luck :)

Go through the appropriate channels, take your story to the media and if there is any justice in the world you will get your girl back.

They are Septim, DCFS (or whatever they are called in your locale) are social workers..... idiots and even worse idiots with power, tyrants.  If you want an eye opening lesson go to your local University, locate the College of Sociology and sit and observe for an hour or two.  You will walk away with a sense of dismay at our 'government' (state and fed) and just how stupid the 'powers that be' truly are.

Good News!

I made a huge stink - I bought a tape recorder and a notebook, and then  I contacted all the local newspapers & eNews sites, called the atturney general, spoke with the local Director, Administrative Director, and the District Administraive Directors Supervisor of DCFS, and called a whole long list of legal peoples seeking answers.

I get my daughter back in about two hours.
