Well, in contrary to what your saying. Looking over the last two eras in the top three worlds, there's just two Elves in the top five of the highscores. More to the points, there's just one Elf, coming in at 3rd across all six of the highscore charts shown. Elves are no more overpowered than any other race and infact, these statistics probably shows the opposite of what your claiming about Elves being overpowered.

03:56:51 Jun 2nd 14 - Mr. Nipply Tingles:

Ghost look great but dont produce, the main reason is orcs and halflings, orcs are training gaia at the same cost of a ghost but not taking pez away from their cities, while halfers are making ponies which they only need to train 1 for every 6 ghost you are training. ive tried numerous times to make elf oop attacker work but it just doesnt. ive had better luck with humans half as many pez used up during protection training.

If any race is over-powered it is orc. the best lvl 1 unit, no peasants needed training in protection without hurting your income, or filling a newly taken city, and it also has the single most powerful troop who also moves the fastest, all troops train faster, their magic units are the cheapest and lets not forget force march.

if a player knows what they are doing orc is the most stable and versatile race through the entire era.

Activity is the most important factor. overall any race can do well any time, some easier then others, its the player and who their competition is. Luck surprisingly has a lot to do with it as well. one of my best eras started off with a risky take over of 50%. once i won that things got rolling, but if i had lost that things would have been much much different.

19:38:29 Jul 10th 14 - Mr. Rabbut:

nipply, you are so wrong. First, if you are attacking with ghosts, you have 2 attack. halflings will only have 4 defense with one pony. so to beat a halfling, all you need to do is be more active when attacking. Plus, thats 100 vs 800. even 2 ghosts which are equal in power to 1 pony is 200 vs 800. Lets say a halfling is able to attack you with their ponies. now, they have 6 attack, so you want to make it even - 6 defense at least. so thats 600 for you vs... 800 for them. tell me how you think elfs are not great oop? cheaper and stronger unites. Halflings suck, dont give me that shit

Dwarfs are better off defense ivly but it still costs them 100 more to get that extra defense while to get 1 more attack it only costs you 50 gold - technically. and they have one less attack meaning you need one less ghost to defend with.

I do agree that orcs are great though due to the take no pez to train lvl 1. but nazguls cost so much. the advantage is that they also have the cheapest military upkeep as well by using them.

04:14:46 Jul 12th 14 - Mr. Nipply Tingles:

Rabbut, in theory ghosts are fantastic, ive tried many times to spam ghosts oop every time unsuccessfully, perhaps on a low world it would work but against any player who knows anything about this game will beat an elf spamming ghosts.

Rabbut make it work in a decent world and show me it can be done. maybe im just a bad elf. Nirvana is about to restart. ill be there to watch.

06:40:25 Jul 12th 14 - Teirdel (Mr. Taveron Targaryen):

I've noticed while the potential is there, by grabbing magic early you suffer early which hurts the spam to a large margin. If you grab mil it'll be an uphill battle maybe to get magic science late.r. haven't tried early military though.

06:46:51 Jul 12th 14 - Ms. Strawberry:

Haven't played orc before coz I personally hate having ugly looking creatures in my armies but I do feel that they are the best race to take if you feel like kicking people's butt both oop and late game.

What I'm so sure is that elf really sucks at oop unless you play them in an unorthodox way which I doubt most players will do. Well ghost spam really looks promising coz you'll definitely have more troops and offensive power coming oop but you have zero (0) military science compared to let's say halfling (let's not include those ugly looking orc to the discussion) who already put 3 or 4 to 5 mil sci when their oop army comes out plus it'll also give bonus to GTs for defence. An elf can't really put mil sci for their ghosts because they needed to invest in their magic sci well unless you decided to play riders late game.
So to conclude, I think elves really should farm and build GTs oop and have their magic ready, well at least freeze at the shortest time possible to support their early game attackers.
