19:22:56 Aug 5th 09 - Sir Darkmarsbar: Greetings there seemed to be a few topics about games recently and i thought that you might be intrested in some of the cool gadgets and news from the games industry. i am a student studying games and i get emails every day about about whats going on. the most intresting news i have heard the last week or so is about Call of Duty "Modern Warfare 2" might be sold for a RRP £55 around X-mas quote "Activision has confirmed that the eagerly-awaited Modern Warfare 2 will carry a hefty RRP of £54.99 – and retailers have been warned that other publishers are likely to follow suit." i believe that is for the normal game and not a limited edition one. To read more about this story go to http://www.mcvuk.com/news/35050/5499-Modern-Warfare-2-to-lead-Xmas-price-hike following this industry legend Chris Deering (never heard of) says that games today need to be sold at £70. There is no way in hell i would buy a game that cost that much unless it was a really cool limited editon. He says that the hike in game prices is to help the game industry Deering said in an interview "Before there can be as many successful blockbuster games as there were in the past, games have to be produced in a more efficient fashion. “In order to price these games at a level where they would support an industry [as strongly as] they did ten years ago, they’d have to be sold at £70. But people just don’t have that kind of money, there’s a psychological glass ceiling. “Consumers won’t spend more, but to write the game, publishers are having to spend more than ever before. That’s the key problem.” MCV revealed that Activision had raised the trade price of Modern Warfare 2 by £10 to £55 a fortnight ago. The story has featured heavily in the national press this week. Deering added: “The cost of development is ten times what it was for PS2, and more like 20 to 50 times more than on PSOne. Yet there are lots of things you can get for less than the relative value of paying 50p an hour for a very high end game.”
In other news it seems like ASDA wants to be come a major player in games retailing. they have plans to allow people to Trade-in games like retailers Game and Game Station offer( which might be good since games are some times cheaper in ASDA. they would be the first super market to do this. Thats all for the first post to this topic. i will post new stuff soon would you pay £55-£70 for a game ?
19:38:22 Aug 5th 09 - Sir Santa: Hell no.I must admit, I don't always do things fair when it comes to PCgames but for my Xbox, I have no choice but to be greedy. So no, I wouldn't buy it at those prices. But if someone would "lend" me a million, things might change... ;)
19:39:59 Aug 5th 09 - Sir Darkmarsbar: lol on the website i got the news off some said " if i get Chris Deering's pay check then i wouldnt mind buying at those prices"
21:03:17 Aug 5th 09 - Mr. Justin: I still dont see why the gaming industry needs "help." They make millions a day because people are always buying games across the world so its not like they are hurting for money. In the USA my Xbox and PS3 games all cost 60$. I havent bought one in quite a few months really. Im waiting for H-A-W-X to lower so i can buy it. THen comes both the new star wars games and COD :P
23:12:11 Aug 5th 09 - Sir Darkmarsbar: they are saying that the cost's of things are going up (equipment, software, production costs) it cost around $10Mil to make a game like Gears of war
23:14:40 Aug 5th 09 - Mr. Justin: Ya but see they are getting way more then that daily tho from all over the world.
23:24:33 Aug 5th 09 - Prince Gaius Septimus Cidellus: If they want more people to torrent computer games illegally online, then they'll raise the price. For Xbox 360 games, I generally wait until the price is low, unless it's a really good game like Fallout 3. For Computer games, I can't buy newer games anyway because my computer sucks, so the games I buy are like...10-20 bucks. XD
11:55:39 Aug 6th 09 - Sir Santa: I bet you bought Oblivion as soon as it came out too :P
12:42:33 Aug 6th 09 - Sir Pubeguin The Hairy Cheezburger: torrent FTW . still in our stores there is sexy games like gta 3!!!! wow so amazing. there is couple of stores providing new games but you knows to pay 300Lt for game like 80-90euros when you can get it for free... yeah... it isnt worth it sometimes. unless for ps3
11:32:22 Aug 8th 09 - Sir Darkmarsbar: Greetings here
11:49:23 Aug 8th 09 - Sir Darkmarsbar: (forget the post above this) Greetings here is some news i heard that was funny In Japan if you own a PS3 you will soon be able to buy Adult Movies in HD "A company called DDM.tv has in one fell swoop both answered a million prayers and made real a million nightmares by confirming an HD porn download service for owners of the PS3 – though it will only be available in Japan" I dont think this will happen in America and Europe or atleast not for a few years.
If there is any news you want to know like new games, game release dates, game news for PS3/Xbox/Wii then just ask and i will find some. next time i will be posting some news and maybe pictures of gaming gadgets
17:13:36 Aug 19th 09 - Sir Darkmarsbar: Fable 3 has been officially announced today. Fable III is due out some time toward the end of 2010. “The third child is always the problem child,” Molyneux has told the audience. “The third game of any series tends to be a bit of a lull. We want people to expect the unexpected. “Fable III will be new, fresh and different. I think there’s something fundamentally wrong with RPGs like Fable. The mechanics have been around since the ‘80s. I’m going to take that foundation and throw it away.” A teaser trailer for the game claims that players will have the chance to rule Albion, the traditional homeland of Fable, in the new title. “I want players to feel and experience what it’s like to be a ruler,” Molyneux expanded. The early levels will see players overthrow the current ruler, from which point on they take control of the land. They will be free to share Albion's wealth with the people, thus eradicating poverty, or hoarding for themselves and becoming a tyrant.

20:23:44 Aug 19th 09 - Mr. Bearmanmaja: Thats all boring, Blizzcon starts this friday and we may accually get some news as to when the Starcraft 2 beta will arrive, cant wait to play it!
20:29:56 Aug 19th 09 - Mr. Shame:

20:31:37 Aug 19th 09 - Mr. Shame:
ya, but think how many copys sell of gears of war a day, it's not like just one or two of them are sold daily
21:12:46 Aug 19th 09 - Sir Darkmarsbar: StarCraft II delayed to 2010
02:12:15 Aug 20th 09 - Mr. Brainiac: GoW has sold over 5 million units.. and 2.1 million were on the first day. So 2,100,000 x 60 = 126,000,000 They could build 12 more with that 10 million price. But with those extra 3 million they've prolly made near 300 million dollars, but you also have to think about were used GoW's counted? And when were they bought because the price obviously drops over time. And tbh I don't wait for the price to drop and buy new, I wait for price to drop and buy a used one.
10:53:59 Aug 20th 09 - Sir Darkmarsbar: not every game companies make a profit and alot of the games they make are canceled before they even annouce them. but once they have a good game or a game with a big fan base then they will be able to make a bucket load of cash.
13:31:09 Aug 20th 09 - Mr. Palpatine: wonderful uzbekistan...doesnt matter if ps3or pc or whatever , you can get 5-10 games on a disk here for 1-2 dollars max and they are on every corner.
