03:50:48 Dec 5th 08 - Mr. Sanoh: hey i am interested in creating my own video game. im wanting to make a MMORPG, but i know that it would be a while before i can make one. so i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of a good software that i could get.
04:44:48 Dec 5th 08 - Mr. Fitesalot: Bwwahahaha, it takes full design teams sponsored by large companies to make those MMORPGS. I have a cousin that works for Blizzard entertainment. If you're actually serious about it, you need to go to school and get a degree, and then you could get hired onto a team to work on one. It's basically impossible for one person to create an entire game without reusing a ridiculous amount of code (that the companies would probably not give to you). Sorry if I burst your bubble :(

06:10:31 Dec 5th 08 - Prince Validus Septim II: O_O ...woot? XD
| ||||
13:16:12 Dec 5th 08 - VU Admin: I would say start playing around with Flash. Then take some C++ or Java programming course. Also learn Photoshop and a 3d program like 3d studio max.
13:33:30 Dec 5th 08 - Mr. Blood Fang: Not gunna lie but, Game design for dummies is actually really helpful book.
14:39:53 Dec 5th 08 - Mr. Blast of Darkness: i tried learning code once, one word....BORING! lol, i'd never be a game designer...Well unless I can just boss around a team of programmers to make the game for me...But then I'd have to give them credit for 'some' of it...
23:09:11 Dec 5th 08 - Mr. Sanoh: alright thank you @ Mr. Fitesalot, i know that it takes more than one person to make a game. i accually am having some of my friends help me with designing the game.
23:11:56 Dec 5th 08 - Mr. Demonsul: You want game materials?

00:14:15 Dec 6th 08 - Master Cloutier: Well I know this question was not for me but I know HTML, PHP, MYSQL, CSS, JAVA, ASP, and learning C++
00:15:58 Dec 6th 08 - Lord Wraith: Why would you learn C++ after learning Java? ^.-
00:16:51 Dec 6th 08 - Lord Cedric Deallus: ...because then he can claim to know C++ and Java?
00:19:45 Dec 6th 08 - Lord Wraith: But its pointless. Java evolved from C# and C+....... (I may be mistaken, pretty sure though)
00:26:09 Dec 6th 08 - Lord Cedric Deallus: He obviously doesn't care for you opinion does he? :-p Give up Shaun before he destroys you with superior knowledge....muahahhaa
00:55:26 Dec 6th 08 - Prince Validus Septim II: Dang...I only know C. I think I've missed a bit of programming news... XD
00:57:06 Dec 6th 08 - Lord Cedric Deallus: I got an E for enthusiasm...
17:17:57 Dec 6th 08 - Mr. Sanoh: I just hope they know what they're doing, maybe I mis-interpreted what you were doing, but it sounded like you were taking on a project way over your head. what programming languages do you know? this stuff can be reaally tedious. right now i know it would be way over my head. that is why im wanting to find some programs so that i could learn to make games and eventually make a MMORPG. right now i only know HTML @Admin, how many people helped you create VU?
13:19:56 Dec 7th 08 - Duke Argyle: @Fitesalot
15:22:16 Dec 7th 08 - Mr. Sucker of Sheepschlong: Sanoh, I think orinially, he made it with 3 other guys.
16:30:45 Dec 7th 08 - Sir Darkmarsbar: im currently at college studying games development. i have learnt how to use,3d max, flash, photoshop and some programming languages. even after learning this it is still not an easy thing to make a good game.

17:13:30 Dec 7th 08 - Mr. Evul Fakir Pimp: Creating the game concept and its functions is the easy part. Its utilising a solid gaming platform that is the expensive part. Also requires a very good kmowledge on server management, as this part can triple you games costs alone. There are a few open source game engines out there, but again there stability varies by each type of game, and how well the architecture is built.
