I loved Gladiator until I heard a quote from Ridley Scott saying that he had tried to create an authentic Roman based movie. In the beginning, when the Romans and Germanic barbarians are fighting, the Romans are just sort of out there in no particular formation fighting the Germans. In reality, the Romans stayed in very disciplined formations, and outlasted their enemies rather than bluntly fighting them. Also, no Roman General would ever randomly go out and start killing things, even if he is a badasss. There are too many inaccuracies to count, not to say that it wasn't a great movie, I simply don't like Scott trying to fool people into believing that it was accurate when it's not. Anyway, for me, it would be hard to decide...I'll have to think for a while.
he does get credit for including the coconuts in the gladiatorial games tho! :P
who cares it wouldnt have been a great movie if maximus stodd still away from the fighting all movie
I dont think Ridley Scott was going for accuracy that much.. I've seen a Russell Crowe interview on the actors studio.. and he said that he had a fair amount of room to improv.. like the famous line then Maximus orders his men in battle against the Germanians.. "What we do in life echoes in eternity".. that was actually Russells school motto back in Australia.
*makes a movie about WWII with General Patton going out and mowing down scores of Germans and Italians with a Tommy gun*
That sounds like a good movie Septim! I'd watch it! A nutter with a tommy gun is never a bad plot line!
yeah thats pretty awesome i cant wait til its out
=D *movie wins all of the academy awards and ends up grossing 10 billion dollars*
You'd share part of that with me and Bran for giving it a good review and encouraging you, right???
i wouldnt | ||||
I'll give you a dollar for your billions... 1. The TRUMAN Show... it's an old Jim Carrey movie, but it's my all-time favorite. The Truman Show is a movie about an unwanted child living in a perfect world. Perfect job, perfect wife, perfect life. Until things start to get wierd. Later in the movie, the man Truman (Jim Carrey) thinks is his father drowned, and his love with Silvia, probably one of the few people in the world who think it's wrong to imprison Truman in his fake life. Eventually, Truman manages to sail on a boat, crash into the edge of the gigantic dome he spent his entire life in, and leaves. Favorite quote: Truman Burbank - (At the very end) "In case I don't see ya, good afternoon, good evening, and good night!" This one is self-explanatory, it's about the Apollo 13 launch and the Successful Failure. Almost completely based on fact. Favorite quote: Jim's Mother - "If they can get a washing machine to fly, my Jim could land it." This one is based off the Worst Case Scenario of Global Warming, the freezing of the entire Northern Hemisphere. Favorite quote: The black boy who's name aludes me, I haven't seen it ina while - "Hey, I just just found an entire bookshelf of tax laws, we can burn these." XD ...no words can possibly describe this. Another Jim Carrey movie, yes I'm fans of Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler... I bet most of you know about this one... Favorite quote: YES! Meh, starting to get bored of writing movie reviews. XD uhh, The Pirates Trilogy is primarily about William Turner, a man who is the son of a pirate who served on the Black Pearl. It follows him on his quest to save Elizabeth, his love, and his father. The Infamous Captain Jack Sparrow... uhh, on second thought watch it yourself. :-D No favorite quote. Meh. Do I really have to tell you all about this one? XD Favorite Quote... THIS IS SPARTA! This is a comedy with Adam Sandler staring as an insecure man who works at a cat clothing company. On a flight to St. Louis, he is arrested for ridiculous reasons and put in anger management, and is forced to go through all of Dr. Buddy Rydell's ridiculous treatments. Favorite Quote: Adam Sandler and Rydell - "You know, in Europe, it's not unusual to see two or four men sharing a bed." "That's why I'm proud to be an American." Enjoy meh Movie reviews. XD
