I found it pretty odd that there was really nothing on the Olympics. I don't know about anyone else, but Ive been glued to it. =======================================================
Canada/USA hockey game... wow what a show.
canada has 10 times more winter.
Great job Canada! Yeah!
CANADA ALL THE WAY!!! To me the standings dont matter but the hockey matters the most!
CANADA GOLD !!!!!!! | ||||
wot? LMAO | ||||
Winter Olympics are boring. Bring on the proper ones.
Means you leaves have no summer and thus need the winter ;) <3 Canada they're awesome. Huge kudos for setting a gold standard. But didn't they lose to USA in curling? tsk tsk that's depressing.
People are dying to play in the winter olympics!
Mr. Arthur Dent | ||||
Weird, I might be thinking of women's? Oh idk, it seemed surprising.
Australia sucks. But my god, Britain sucks even more!! even though they get sooooo much more snow than we do
Britain was hilarious. They had some 60 competitors, no? 1 MEDAL?!?!?!? LOOOOOOOOOLL
only 14 medals? everyone on their hockey team got a medal. should be 34ish...
lol the team medals count as 1 unfortunately
Norway rocks, 4mil people living here, so if u calc like that... then norway pwns everyone.. And please, dont start by saying norway got more winter than other people... dont Ooo, and look on the stats for most golds. Not this OL, but the whole thing... norway pwns, we got 107 gold
norway has 4.6 mil. Closer to 5 mil than 4 :P
bleh, the people after the 4mil dont count :D
Britain never gets snow. We get rain. And cloud. And sometimes sun. But never snow. It's only the past year we've got any, what with the radicalisation in the climate (well, everybody has because of it). Still don't have, and never have had the facilities for snow events though (besides say, indoor events like figure skating) Hence why Britain performs reasonably well in the Summer games (ahead of you Aussies and Canadians, eh), but not so well in an event that nobody really cares about. Britain finished 4th in the Summer Olympics. Australia 6th and Canada 19th. LOLOLOL
50 competitors. But, yeah, and Canada sent 332 athletes to the Beijing Summer Olympics, and only came 19th with 18 medals. LOLOLOLOL.
canada ftw | ||||
There is a lot of Canucks in Vu =P
RVL had 7 at one point i think
Netherlands 8 medals -.-
Winter olympics is like the para olympics nobody really cares
In the end we are all human beings just in different parts of the world .. countries don't matter
Then there is USA which happens to be either 1st or 2nd in most Olympic games in any country :)
lol people.. noone expect alot of golds from countries that got no winter. And please, dont say that noone cares for the winter OL, people do.
USA USA USA don't be hatin' Canada
The curling was amazing.
ya, Curling was great :P Actually surprised over how big the game is in Canada, 1mil people playing it :o In norway its kinda rare. My dad have tried it once, thats teh only one I know personally that have tried teh game. Still we are ranked 3rd in the world and came second in this OL, not only that. The Curling team, and, all of the teams in norway is amateur. They dont get a cent from sponsors or anything... but hope that changes after the things with their pants xD that they get some sponsors or something :P
Mr. Arthur Dent | ||||

at least canada can still do summer sports. A country NEEDS snow to be able to compete in the winter olympics.
unless you are from Jamaica ;)
Bingo | ||||
Mr. Basch | ||||
Canada/USA hockey game... wow what a show. What if we put our REAL athletes there.. like lebron james with a hockey stick? :P That'd be a "show". xD
Lol, and then Canada could send their rugby stars to beat him up, lol.
Basketball = Most boring sport ever... I'd rather watch curling.
haha i couldn't agree more :P
Vug, are you seriously saying that hockey players are not athletes? Could you please tell me in what way a basketball player is more of an athlete than a hockey player? In my opinion, hockey is one of the more difficult sports to be able to play well. Think about it, what skills do you need for basketball? You need to be able to run, jump and throw a ball. Granted that's a bit dumbed down, but it makes the comparison easier. Every kid who has ever been on a playground has ran, jumped and thrown a ball. The degree with which they throw that ball varies, but none the less they've thrown a ball. Now compare that to hockey. For starters, you first have to learn how to stand up, unlike basketball where everyone already knows how to stand, walk and run. Then after you learn how to stand, you need to learn how to move, forwards backwards and side to side. Learning to skate well takes more skill than the sport of basketball itself, but I still call basketball a sport with "real" athletes. After you've learned to stand and move yourself, you've gotta learn how to use a hockey stick to move and shoot a puck accurately and quickly. Comparably, everyone already knows how to throw a ball, the technique in basketball must be learned, but in general, everyone knows how to throw a ball, and even people who have never played before can quickly figure it out. Then you throw in checking with combined hits up to ~45mph, a ton of gear that restricts movement and vision and the possibility of a game going non-stop for a full period (20 minutes), and you've got much more that goes into playing hockey than does basketball And yet, even through all of that, I still consider basketball just as much a sport with "real" athletes. What exactly is it that makes you say that Hockey is not a real sport with real athletes?
Archtiect is right, hockey requires a lot more skill then b-ball and hockey is a lot more agressive

I didn't say that no one knows how to skate. My parents started teaching me at 3 years old, skating is second nature to walking for me. People who have never been on hockey skates before have an extremely hard time standing up, even those who can skate well with figure skates have lots of difficulty on hockey skates. I worked as a skate guard for like 4 years, I've seen many who were sure that they could skate fall flat on their face, I got to call the ambulance and clean up the blood. If you've not skated before, you do have to learn to stand up all over again and build up from there. There are a few people I've seen that have never skated before that can get on the ice and zip around without a problem, but those people are few and far between.
I've skated for most of my life, but about once a year which isn't nearly enough. I've only just began skating in earnest, and while I can move quickly and turn well, I still can't stop without the boards or a lot of ice in front of me and I'm proud of myself if I manage to skate for an hour without falling down. Of all the major sports, hockey is one of the most difficult to play and requires probably the most skills and abilities. You need to be able to skate, shoot, block shots, use your stick, give a hit, take a hit and so much more. That's not even counting goalies! You also need stamina and cardiovascular endurance, great hand-eye coordination, a goodly amount of muscle and a head on your shoulders.
Vug, are you seriously saying that hockey players are not athletes? It was a joke xD. Sheesh you take every little thing seriously. I personally hate basketball, I find it retarded. Worst sport evar. I'd rather watch golf. I was just stating first person who came to mind, and lebron james seemed funny to say. I don't mind watching hocky, it's a mix of (american) football, soccer, and ice. :) I'd rather watch football though. ^^
