In America you can marry in church and you can merry legally. Most people do both, even athiests, because it's traditional and there's nothing "fun" with signing a bunch of government forms.

I also think Barny made a good point above. It is hard to seperate religious devotion from nationalism, tradition, honor, etc. It's easy enough to say Muslims are the most violent because they are living far more violent lives. Think of pre-WWII Germany and how many extremists were popping up there.

The Old Testament is an absurd book, in my opinion. It's mythology, something to give worshippers that ancient feeling of divine right to slaughter neighbors in the name o*beep*od. God sure has changed his mind when Jesus comes around.

To say that some religions are more violent than others can be done. For example, hardcore Christian conservatives in the KKK are undoubtedly more violent than say a peaceful Buddhist monastary who would never harm an animal, let alone a human being. But when it comes down to the world's major religions, there are simply too many offbranches and other issues to say which one is most violent. Christians had crusades, Muslims had jihads, both in the name of god but also in the pursuit of gold and tax...

People make predictions every day. Some are accurate, some not. Symbolic writings are easy to interpret as predictions later. Here is an example:

Similarly, I could easily give you 1000 examples where we could say that prediction was accurate. When you can interpret things, you can claim whatever you like. And all the possible interpretations are not written in the original text, the interpretation happens afterwards.

If you want to write clear text, you have to give exact numbers, name the units of measurement, give exact and full names of people, places, and other things and give exact dates and times. If you write in riddles and emotional symbols, you can claim whatever you want afterwards.

For example this is not a prediction, but a load of crap that will surely happen: After winning the obstacles and returning to where it was home the faithful shall rejoice.

When my predictions above are fulfilled, it does not prove anything, except maybe that I can write so ambiguously that it can mean anything you want it to mean.

The point of my post of 7/5/2007 3:23:35 AM is that you cannot use some vaguely written prediction as an evidence, because it is very easy for a clever man to write such predictions. In that way I have already answered your question: Yes I read your so called "proof", but I do not believe in god now, because I have shown what is wrong with the prediction and why it cannot be used as proof for the existence of some divine being.

I also predicted that you, Mbeidas, would join this thread. I told it to couple my friends before I wrote the first post in this thread. And you did. That does not make me a messenger of some god. I just knew that you follow the VU Forum, and you are a Muslim, so you are probably interested in the subject and will join. That is simple logic, not some divine gift.

Muhammad was a military leader in his late years. So he probably knew something about the strength of Persia and Romans. For example in this game Visual Utopia, you can first take a couple enemy cities, but then if your opponent is stronger, he will retaliate and take them back. It is very easy to predict that such retaliation will soon happen.

Now I predict that you will continue writing at VU Forums. If you do, that will prove that my prediction is as good as Muhammad's.
