Is this rainbow science
15:04:27 Dec 13th 12 - Ms. Elisa Day:

Talking about Halfers...

So I start with magic, as I like to be able to do some basic casting, and I get to level 4, so I can be sure to do my own stone to gold casting.
Some say leave the casting to the mages, but you cant expect a mage to be always around when you need something, so its better to have some magic science.

After that I switch to military, its not that expensive so its possible to get it to level 6, and then if you're not in war, if you are safe to do a little bit of saving up, then get miltiary to level 7

After that get income up a bit by getting mining to level 5.. When you get it to level 5 you notice that next level is really expensive that that you need to save up entire day and doing stone to gold, no training no building. So I usually just decide its not worth it, so I stop there.

After that I check my food production, and do farming, usually to level 5 because once again, the costs are pretty low, but when you get to level 5 it gets quite expensive...

When I do that, then I think, did I just rainbow my sciences?
Tell me what you think:

Magic 4
Military 7
Mining 5
Farming 5
(then I would do a few levels of Medicine and Farming, but just a few, already is too darn expensive...)
Let me know what I should change...

You're a halfer, if you don't rainbow your sciences, your advents will do it for you :)

15:15:52 Dec 13th 12 - Wilberforce (Mr. Samlag Usling):

It depends on playing style.

Some prefer to go:
Mil 8, Mining 6, Magic 3/4 then onto Medi, then Farming.
Some go, Mining 8, Mil 6, Magic 3/4, then again, onto Medi then Farming.
Some also go Mining/Mil to 7 + 7, then Magic, etc.

I would say, don't go Magic first, although you'll miss out in being 1st STGer (although you can still buy up stockpiles of cheap stone off market, then sell on when another STGer sets up), unless you want to be a mage.

Just play yourself and find out how best it works for you, but the main thing is, I can see that you end up with relatively low sciences at the end. So perhaps try a few different things on different charas and go with what you like. If you still like doing the strat you're using now, then keep doing it. VU isn't as heavy on the "everyone must do exactly 1 strategy to be the most efficient, any different and you'll suck" thing. The top KDs are always trying new strategies on everything, every era.
Everyone is different though. E.g. Me + Elsin + Warlock had a discussion whether it best to go Mining 8 or Mil 8 first as Halfers. We had different opinions. Also, I believe Lewatha used to go Mining 10 as Halfer, but I really wouldn't advise that.

15:21:13 Dec 13th 12 - Pure (Lady Slowty Mcslow Slow):

If your able to farm go 7 mining first then probably go for your 4 magic then 7 military, after you get them go for level 4/5 med then get farming up a couple of levels (Remember to use farmers).
Medicine is the only science your not able to find adventuring.

18:33:44 Dec 13th 12 - Ms. Beautiful Brunette:

i like to go tree science first on all races to capitalize on the absurd early tree prices. after that i tend to put a few points into mining science to bolster my gold growth even further, then i put some points into farming so i dont have to waste as much money building farms. after that i put some points into medicine and military in a 1 to 1 ratio. this is the best way, in my opinion, to do your sciences for optimal gameplay.

i know you're thinking "cool, but why no magic science?" i skip magic science completely because now that it doesnt give you magic defense anymore, it is nothing more than a crutch that i dont feel i need. in place of stone to gold i buy and resell stone (this weakens the power of the stone to golders) so i have a really strong gold lead over the other players. if i do happen to need an army frozen so I can slaughter it (since i'm so far ahead in gold and troops my army will be several sizes larger than theirs, thus moving significantly slower) i call upon the kingdom underlings ("mages") to do my bidding.

follow my strategy and i can assure you many victories in the upcoming eras.

18:38:12 Dec 13th 12 - Yukan (Mr. Mirai):

What if you play alone?

20:09:54 Dec 13th 12 - HorusPanic (Mr. Panic XXII):

i can assure you this is NOT a good strategy:

And what, you wind up with:

Forestry 2-3
mining 2-3
farming 2-3
medicine 2-3
milit 2-3

^ that is a friggen raindbow, and completely studid

20:16:21 Dec 13th 12 - HorusPanic (Mr. Panic XXII):

elisa, as a kingdom mate.. i'll tell you that i have 2 halfer builds:

1) mage (straight magic investmen until lvl 7 or higher if needed)

2) wilb's note basically describes my style :

Some prefer to go:
a) Mil 8, Mining 6, Magic 3/4 then onto Medi, then Farming.
b) Some go, Mining 8, Mil 6, Magic 3/4, then again, onto Medi then Farming.

I'll do teh attacker build (a) if I'm needed OOP and the farmer build (b) if i have time to land drop a few 90k's before i get to the fighting

i prefer to only get lvl 1 or 2 magic though for EITS and CW... never do i get freeze unless i'm mage... also, i usually go farming before medicine as a halfer because late game the food market gets pretty lucrative to people with surplusses (and you have super cheap farmers)

21:10:22 Dec 13th 12 - heroix (Mr. Captain Blackbeard):

@Ms. Beautiful Brunette

This strategy is only working for you because you must be playing on lower worlds. Try not to mix sciences and see how significantly stronger on the field you're focusing on you will become. Jack of all trades doesn't seem to be efficient.

21:16:16 Dec 13th 12 - Zond (Mr. Lucrative):

Obviously neither of you understood he was trolling.

22:03:00 Dec 13th 12 - HorusPanic (Sir Insanity Wolf):

well i looked up his history and /whois'd him and thought he (or she) what new enough to be sincere...

if i'm trolled, i'm trolled... so be it

but what i'm hearing is that this is an experienced player's multi?

22:04:15 Dec 13th 12 - HorusPanic (Sir Insanity Wolf):

also, i'm sorry is i was rude to a new player, i don't mean to be mean

22:36:33 Dec 13th 12 - Zond (Mr. Lucrative):

Sometimes when you get old..and have kids. It just comes out that way :P

Multi? :O how dare him!

23:47:25 Dec 13th 12 - Ms. Beautiful Brunette:

my master strategy is not studid, it is studidly over powered.

11:03:46 Dec 14th 12 - Electric (Electric Piro):

I support this.... to about 23%
