Those 'crazy extremists' actually believe in something. They have a reason for fighting and will do what they can to protect their beliefs. The American soldiers will only be fighting in Iran because they are told to.

You are underestimating a natural, primitive instinct - to defend your homelands and your beliefs. Even animals will fight to the death to protect their homes.

Also, you forget that the American economy will soon crash and then how will it support a war in a foreign country and supply its troops with weapons, ammuniton, fuel, etc?

just to educate some people i am a friend of kathandarion.to set you straight on some things you say suddam was breaking UN rules.america broke un rules by attacking iran.they have been breaking UN rules for the past 60 years.just so you know america first attacked iran 15 yrs before suddams birth which was 60 yrs ago.so to you americans still living in a dream world.your bubble has just been burst.

A few points:

1. Who won WWII?

- The Soviet Union (props to William of Warlo above). There were vastly more German troops tied up on the Eastern Front than on the Western Front. Had there been no Eastern Front, the D-Day landings could never ever have taken place. Most of what the Americans and Brits did involved a frantic rush across Europe to stop the Russians grabbing it in the aftermath of their overwhelming defeat of the Germans. Naturally, Cold War propaganda didn't want to see things that way, but bear in mind that some battles on the Eastern Front involved millions of troops on each side. Now go count how many troops landed on the West.

2. Who is a Superpower?

For almost the whole of world history until about 1800, the only real superpower on earth was China. Europe gained a foothold for a brief while due to the collapse of the Manchurian dynasty, but only for the briefest moment when seen against all of history. It is most likely that China will shortly reclaim that position. Their current economic growth is such that even with a comparatively low expenditure on arms, their present naval buildup will surpass that of the US within a decade or two. I have no idea why they are building such a navy but they clearly are.

When you think of China, think of a farming dwarf on the Fant HoH. ;)

3. Who would win were a war to be waged against Iran?

Probably Russia. A war with Iran, whether waged by the US or even Israel, would close the Straits of Hormuz. Commercial tankers will not set to sea without insurance and no insurer would extend insurance to a ship passing those straits in wartime. This would double or triple the world price of oil and set the seal on a world depression, not merely recession. Russia would be a little more impervious than most countries to such an event since it is a major supplier  of energy to Europe by other routes. Meanwhile, those of you soon to leave school or college had better hope there won't be a war against Iran unless you want a job mining coal with a pick. Try reading up on the Great Depression.

Oh and it's rumored the Russians are selling surface-to-ship missiles to the Iranians. Now why would that be? ;)

Russia was not the superpower of that time period for the simple fact that the only true reason they were in the war at all was because they were being funded by Britain and others.

A superpower that can't afford to use it's army? Please...

Well, IQ tests really test educability. That's what they were designed for and that's what they've always done best. All I question is trying to judge the IQ of an entire nation, since it would depend on age demographics and a whole lot of other factors.

I had an IQ test 3 years ago... I was 136. =P

But like Gothrim said, it only tests knowledge, not intelligence.
