The RP Forum needs
14:19:30 Apr 16th 10 - Duke Tinat of Imperia:

A centralized magic system , as ive found some RP's use different ones from rp to rp , making it hard for new RP'rs to catch on

and a way to stop God Moding.

like maybe we have character attributes on the RP's were we have

strength(the power of your melee blows , or in case of archers arrow shots) -
Agility(speed of dodges and such)-
skill at arms(skill level at your chosen weapon)-
intelligence-
Endurance(it is your start of endurance , each post that you are in combat for it goes down by 1/10th , this will help counter God Moding , each time it goes down your agility , strength and intillegence go down by one point)-

Your life points will be your strength + your endurance x 10.
Your attack points will be skill at arms xstrength
your ability to dodge is agility x skill at arms , if yours is lower you can not dodge the attack
intillegence x 10 = your magic power.
Each post you regenerate 1/10th of your magic power til you are at max again.

So for example a warrior could be .

you get 25 points(can vary from RP to RP) to spread out
Strength-8
Agility-5
Skill At Arms-5
Intelligence-2
Endurance-5

they have low magic , because they dont cast spells , high melee hit , good chance of dodging , etc etc (just a template to show how it would work.)

were as a average mage could be .

Strength - 2
Agility -6
Skill at arms - 2
Intelligence - 12
endurance - 3

(i think the advantage and disadvantage of each thing is quite clear)

i havent really spent much time about this as it just popped in my head and i know if i dont post straight away ill forget to :P

but tell me what you think of the rough outline. this way RP'ers will know what there meant to be doing.

Adding a mandatory system would be a very bad idea. For a start, you are imposing a very rigid system that would take away the freeform nature that has developed here. Imposing stats and such may work in one RP, (although I haven't seen one recently where it has,) but creating such a system across the board is changing the very nature of the RP forum. I don't come here to play an RPG. I, for one, come here because of the freedom that I have with running my6 character. Agreed, godmodding is an ever-present problem, but there are other ways to tackle it other than overhaul and clamp down on the entire forum.

No , i didnt mean EVERY rp had to use it , i just meant a system in place for NEW rp'rs who werent sure how to MAKE a rp , as i know some who i rp with by pm who dont rp on the forums because they think that people will just God mod and screw them over.

The points system would be good if we ever did "Player vs Player" RPs...which I never do because it ends up killing the RP.  That is why I always put everyone on one side and never give people the option of being on one side or another.  Both typically want to win, so they will just do anything it takes to win.  Godmoding typically occurs in that kind of situation from my experience.  You need experienced people in order to pull off a player vs player RP.  An experienced person would be more willing to accept a loss or they would be able to discuss fighting each other better with the intent of having a better story, rather than it just being about being the strongest, most powerful, and/or most badass.  I would gladly allow my character to be defeated, injured, etc if it made the story better.

Also, I normally call out people who do something godmod worthy(Having a weapon of unimaginable power, having indestructible armor, killing dozens of enemies with ease, etc) and kick or punish people who do godmod in my RPs.  I used to always put rules in my RPs that basically said "I am God.  If I don't like something you do, I will ask you to change it.  If you Godmod, I will kill you.  Simple."
