| 00:03:53 Jun 6th 07 - Mr. Evan: i watched both :) but i have absolutely no clue..one guy bled to death..one guy stood there with arrows in him till like...2 million more showered on him..one guy won...one guy lost..but very dramatically and for a good cause..one spartan..one roman..both led troops...one was general..one was a king.. i think..one on one since the maximus guy was a gladiator prolly culd win..and but with armies behind them (or next to them..w,e) i think leonidas cuz they had that whole shield thing going on (if u watched it u know wut im talking about,if not guess) | ||||

Leonidas was born in to the role of king whereas Maximus rose through the ranks to become general of the Roman armies - conquering Germania and all that. Leonidas was a greek so was probably in to buttsex and all that. | ||||

| 15:08:45 Jun 6th 07 - Mr. Fireforge: well, my knowledge of greek history isnt great but i know the romans had advantage over most of their enemies by organization, as mostly their victories were against chaotic armies of 'barbarians'. also i think the spartans were responsible for beating back the egyptians during the first invasion. and while the 300 movie far exagerates what they faced at the end, im pretty sure they killed the persians at a large ratio vs quite overwhelming odds, i could be wrong but i think the only army that can compare are the templar knights of the crusades, who untill a disasterous mistake by a hotheaded general killed them all | ||||

| 17:40:11 Jun 6th 07 - Mr. Basch: in a formation leonidas would win cause the 300's first fight was won so easily it was something like 300 vs 5000 and not one of the 300 was killed. also i love the way those guys liked buildings walls :D it was funny as hell lol | ||||

| 19:34:17 Jun 6th 07 - Duke Erunion Telcontar: Spartans were excellent warriors, for that was their entire life. They grew up in a completely harsh militaristic society, where wimps were executed, just for being wimps, kids went to military school instead of regular school, and were half-starved to encourage them to use their wits and steal from the main barrack's mess-hall. Penelties for being caught were harsh. Other than a few snippits elsewhere, I don't know of much else concerning Sparta, but what I do know is fact, believe it or not. I'm not sure who would win 1 on 1, but I believe that Maximus would win if the two of them had exactly equal armies, he earned his generalship, and his men would fight harder for him, for they loved him. Take a Medieval II setting, Maximus, Maximum command and chivalry= Troops fight harder than they thought they could, and refuse to rout. Leonidas, from what I know, would have lower chivalry and command, his troops not fighting quite as hard and routing more easily, also getting out manouevered. Maximus wins. One more thing, you must remember that 300 is a legend based on a true story, while Gladiator is a Realistic Fictional Epic based on a true time period. This means that Gladiator will be more realistic, usually. BTW, How are the Persian Immortals portrayed? | ||||
| 19:46:41 Jun 6th 07 - Mr. Santa Claus The Battle Mage: You all are thinking wrong. Maximus would win, and for one reason and one reason only. He was a Roman! Romans fight alone in battles. Spartans however always fight in hopliteformation in a large group. That is how Leonidas would be used to fight, in a group. Maximus is used to fight alone. Clearly a huge advantage for Maximus. Leonidas looses his head :D
ow, and one more thing, I found a nice movie. For people who dont want to see any material in context with the World Trade Center attacks. Dont watch. | ||||

You could argue that he would only have had 300 soldiers or he wouldn't or blah blah blah! Let's just stick with the good old 1on1 ok? In which case it's Maximus or Leonidas. | 02:36:44 Jun 7th 07 - Mr. Evan: haha..yea ill admit that movie was really "edited" for the purpose of making a kikass movie.. i also saw the thing of the battle on the national geographic channel which is a bit more realistic :-P spartan warriors were highly trained soldiers and lived thier life entirely for battle so they wuld fight just as hard if not harder to win... i still go maximus 1v1 but leonidas with armies
