20:10:36 Jan 30th 08 - Sir Rodrick Von Liechtenstein: I'm not impressed... 1 - The graphics engine is fail, - the shadows are complete raytrace without a filter. - the radiosity calculations for shadows in corners is completely missing - the "blur" or "focus" utilized by DX10 is also missing - NO BUMPMAPPING - Reflections? missing too - The water looks like chalk dust, and it has no "life" to it, it dosen't ripple, wave, splash, or anything - The "far distance" fog clashes terribly on the weak atmospheric engine and sky - The alpha channel on the opacity maps is bled too far off the textures, the textures are all outlined in black 2 - The models are drawn in the 1997 fashion with Quake 1 type skinning... - why not use a "mega texture" as with Q4 ET ?? they are far superior on all aspects - Normal maps? - who skinned these models anyways? they just, urgh, they are not only low poly, they strech and squish terribly, and all the textures are mis-mashed together and freak, the chain mail has loops of chain that vary from 1-2mm to 1-2 inches in diameter... they SHOULD be uniform.. - animations, for a lack of better word.... they are clunky. Now the gameplay, I dunno, it may be damn skippy kickbutt, but the graphics end of things, it looks way too retro for my taste to be "revolutinary".. blah.

Here, I'll give you graphics freaks an analogy here; The game mechanics are the meat, the graphics are the sauce. If there is no meat, or it's stingy and hard, no matter how good the sauce is, you're not going to leave satisfied. Now, if the meat is just right, succulent, tender and delicious, if the sauce is poor, you still leave satisfied, but you look for a better restaurant. If the sauce is fantastic, you leave satisfied and remain a valued customer for years. If the sauce is really good, but not fantastic, you'll keep eating there (and leaving satisfied) until you find someplace with meat just as good, and sauce better. From the looks of it, this game is going to have amazing meat, with good sauce.
