02:40:58 Feb 16th 07 - Mr. Beggar:

"Carol is travelling by ship from south of the equator to the north.

She has a nice little second class cabin which has a bathroom, but no window.

Carol has no compass nor other instruments.

Yet, without leaving her room or talking with anyone, Carol knew exactly when the ship crossed the equator.

How did she know?"

The toilet flushed the other way? or maybe there was lots of noise as people celebrated

02:43:15 Feb 16th 07 - Mr. Lelouch:

3. Yard Sale?

4. He took off his hat and looked at it?

02:45:06 Feb 16th 07 - Mr. Xemnas:

The following sentence is false. The preceding sentence is true. Are these sentences true or false?

What has 4 legs and only 1 foot?

The three wisest sages in the land were brought before the king to see which of them were worthy to become the king's advisor. After passing many tests of cunning and invention, they were pitted against each other in a final battle of the wits.

Led blind-folded into a small room, the sages were seated around a small wooden table as the king described the test for them.

"Upon each of your heads I have placed a hat. Now you are either wearing a blue hat or a white hat. All I will tell you is this- at least one of you is wearing a blue hat. There may be only one blue hat and two white hats, there may be two blue hats and one white hat, or there may be three blue hats. But you may be certain that there are not three white hats."

"I will shortly remove your blind folds, and the test will begin. The first to correctly announce the colour of his hat shall be my advisor. Be warned however, he who guesses wrongly shall be beheaded. If not one of you answers within the hour, you will be sent home and I will seek elsewhere for wisdom."

With that, the king uncovered the sages' eyes and sat in the corner and waited. One sage looked around and saw that his competitors each were wearing blue hats. From the look in their eyes he could see their thoughts were the same as his, "What is the colour of my hat?"

For what seemed like hours no one spoke. Finally he stood up and said, "The colour of the hat I am wearing is . . ."

A long, long time ago - before airplanes were invented, a suspension bridge was being built to span the gorge near Niagara Falls.

However, there was no way a boat could carry the necessary suspension cables across the violent water, and the bridge could not be built until the cables spanned the river.

In desperation, the builders staged a contest, open to the public, as a way to solve their problem.

The contest was won by a young boy. Soon afterwards, the cables spanned the water.

What countries did they stage the contest? What was the contest and how did it solve the problem?

Funny

These ones are tough. Should keep you going

Lelouch you only answered the Yard sale one 6. makes no sense

03:04:25 Feb 16th 07 - Mr. Darkchaosguy IV:

It's a blue hat. If it was a white hat and one of the other people didn't answer right away it would give away to the third person that his hat was not white because if it was the 2nd guy would have known his was blue since both of the others would have been white. So, if he had a white hat one of the others would have gotten the answer.

Also, i think he meant it was Canada and US because of Niagra falls. About the toilet one, would the toilet have changed? It is still the same toilet.

(Edited by Mr. Darkchaosguy IV 2/16/2007 3:06:13 AM)

03:08:27 Feb 16th 07 - Mr. Xemnas:

Yup Darkchaosguy got the blue hat one right. The toilet improvements because the water flows differently when you are south of equator. 3 of all the question doesn't even ask that it asks what the competition was I don't think the competition was Canada and US

03:28:46 Feb 16th 07 - Mr. Lelouch:

6. It was a paper airplane making contest and the airplane carried the rope across?

"What countries did they stage the contest?"

(Edited by Mr. Lelouch 2/16/2007 3:29:35 AM)

03:30:32 Feb 16th 07 - Mr. Xemnas:

Nope because that didn't help them build a bridge(also you must explain how it helped).

03:32:31 Feb 16th 07 - Mr. Lelouch:

It helped because it was able to carry the cable across! :D

03:33:51 Feb 16th 07 - Mr. Xemnas:

YOur JK Lelouch a paperairplane carry a cable?

03:37:28 Feb 16th 07 - Mr. Lelouch:

A really BIG paper airplane. Either that or they made the boy swin across. Or a contest to see who can circle around the gorge the fastest to put the cable on the other side?

(Edited by Mr. Lelouch 2/16/2007 3:38:05 AM)

03:41:03 Feb 16th 07 - Mr. Xemnas:

You try to swim across Niagra falls send me a postcard. No a BIg paper airplane won't work because it won't fly. YOu cant circle around Niagra Falls well unless you want to run a 100 miles south or north which would kinda defeat the purpose of making a cable go through Niagra Falls

05:11:02 Feb 16th 07 - Mr. Lelouch:

Was the boy psychic by any chance? Taken away by men is balck suits after winning the contest?

(Edited by Mr. Lelouch 2/16/2007 5:11:29 AM)

05:20:12 Feb 16th 07 - Mr. Xemnas:

No he does not belong on the X files

05:36:37 Feb 16th 07 - Mr. Beggar:

im guessing... they used a crane to move the cable across....

edit: i still don't understand the blue hat white hat one, pls explain a bit clearer.

(Edited by Mr. Beggar 2/16/2007 5:37:09 AM)

22:01:12 Feb 16th 07 - Mr. Santa Claus:

01:05:42 Feb 17th 07 - Mr. Xemnas:

(Edited by Mr. Xemnas 2/17/2007 1:06:05 AM)

01:51:45 Feb 17th 07 - Mr. Hackerben:

they used a cannon with a grapling hook in it and a rope connected to it and shot it across Niagara Falls and then tied it tightly and did that twice and then made a weak wooden bridge out of the ropes and wooden planks and that made it easier for them to build a stronger bridge.

that's probably not the right answer, but I bet it'd work if they did do that.

The contest was who could come up with an idea to do it right... haha, and the little boy was a medieval geek and knew everything about cannons and the like.

Anyway

Adieu,
Ben

01:56:43 Feb 17th 07 - Mr. Lelouch:

The contest was for a person to suspend rope from one side of the the gorge to the other. A young boy used a domesticated bird to carry a very long rope over and people on the other side was able to drag the rope which could be attached to stronger and heavier cable over to the other side, linking the gorge. Or the boy used a bow and arrows or a cannon or a hot air balloon.

02:04:20 Feb 17th 07 - Mr. Xemnas:

02:19:02 Feb 17th 07 - Mr. Xemnas:

02:27:16 Feb 17th 07 - Mr. Xemnas:

02:28:20 Feb 17th 07 - Mr. Lelouch:

I know the answer to the doors question, but that's because I've heard it before.

Adieu,
Ben

05:45:47 Feb 17th 07 - Mr. Xemnas:

17:37:24 Feb 17th 07 - Mr. Santa Claus:

The door one, is it about times? It closes at 1 oclock and opens at 9, and then the other way around? Or does it has to do with meditation? They say that in meditation you open 9 doors of your body, but then i wonder what that 1 door is:S

18:55:37 Feb 17th 07 - Mr. Xemnas:
