On a rareish serious note......

Nobody bar the real dinosaurs can really qualify to make a list of great VU players....

The reason for this being, if you haven't seen everyone play you can't really judge.

Just because people have a good era here or there doesn't make them great, not by a long shot... to be great you have to be here for a long time and consistently be performing.

Anyone who's been here under 10 era's, not a great. Anyone who thinks I'm a great... hasn't been playing long enough, or has been looking in all the wrong places.

You missed me! I haven't done anything for almost six months now, and before that it was a similar amount of time. I'm here for the forums now. =D

Many great players have one or a few eras where they are absolutely invincible, they hit every army first, they pick the right race, they get lucky with the percentages and everything just falls into place. Some eras, you can see great players get bogged down in impossible fights where no one will remember their heroic efforts.

In LGC, we were lucky enough to attract a lot of good/crazy/active/social/insane people that put the game before almost anything else :p So how to make a difference between a good and a great player when you have 15 out of the top 20 spots at the end of the era?

Basically there were some players where you would say of, in the middle of desperate fighting, "yeah Devi is on that front, it WILL hold". Remember, this was before mergers were put into the game.. so single player skill and activity was everything. Pre-merges is when you could see single attackers dominate entire kingdoms on their own and hold every mine in a section of the map. Once merges were put in there was no longer much need for overactive players or heroic deeds, as the pace of the game slowed down (zeta also shortened the turns from 50 mins to 1 hour, and reduced movement speed of armies). At this point a lot of the old crews left the game and were replaced with recruits from ZeTas new ad banners.

In the Z to early LGC eras, these players would hold a front no matter what anyone threw at them.

Raist, Valar, Swifty, Devi, Ez.

During this time, you could also see insane feats from guys like Swampfot, Draiken, Fordius, rambo, Xeqter, kc.

Once merges were in place it was much harder to spot individual heroes, and the great players were more likely to be the organizers or the merge leaders of their respective kingdoms. Sloth, Jeroen, Gragnar, Sparker comes to mind.

In Post LGC times, I have no idea who is good or not :p Whoever is consistent in their game, and manages to land on top as an attacker or organizer.. and ofc you need to be in a position to do damage as well. Hamish for example is probably one of the most consistently active attackers in the game, but he is always alone and without backup so he is never able to hold on to his gains or do enough damage to become famous.

u have a point but considering. if Hitler was a gamer he would have been like totally great.. RL is mostly overshadowed bye his inhuman. But gotta give him his credits..

This topic was funny, because 90% of the people nominated their buddies and I noticed that most so called vets seem to think that only their opinion matters LMAO..

Here are the players who I have seen who I would deem great players based not only on their personal play but on what they brought to alliances and how they fought against the alliances I was in. and honestly the really good players have one common attribute, no life= lots of time lol. this list is only according to my own experiences. I have only been around for about 7 eras and missed 2lol and imho the game is way different than when i started.

ezatious- he was a pain in my arse and he knew the game.

Ademo- a consumate team player who doesnt have the lengthy resume but learned quickly and well. ask him how he got his name, lol

TBL- as miuch as people bash him he was honourable towards me and crazy and when we warred against him in dark he never whined.

Murky- when active murky is one of the best players I have seen

arch shade- taught an entire alliance of noobs and is one of the best and sneakiest players I have seen.

mzzery -a master of boob diplomacy

last Era Edd was very good.

Jones from no honour was pretty good last era

The DR from Crazy was a great diplo and leader.

Nurse plagalicious was very solid as well

Ben( gingerbread man) , a crappy leader but he is a good player.

Random ? seriously? bwuahahahaha he does have no life so he is on all the time but anyone who has to rely on dishonourable play should never be mentioned in these threads, much why I didnt add pimple even though he does know the game he is a turd.

Dark had a lot of players who went on to be very good players, miss Jade, jennaside, MSK, Ademo, Mzzery Endless, Butwiggle,  Blackheart, the Doc, Murky, Feisty, the list is pretty extensive.

Now all the "veterans" can flame and dissect my list.

what about that lil short guy who got freaked out after spending the night in The Great Pyramid? He was a pretty awesome General!

these threads are just opinions and shouldn't be taken literally, the only way one can judge how good someone is at the game is to fight them or to fight with them.

with that being said i would nominate a friend of mine as in the top 10, you know him as Stormcrow. he may not be the best at the mechanics of the game but he always makes an era fun. don't get me wrong, he is very good at the fighting and magic aspects. and by far out shoots me at the game in all aspects.

Sir burning legion , perhaps READ before posting, my degree is in Military Science I am reasonably sure that Napoleon Bonaparte was not austrian and a quarter Jewish, I suppose I could be wrong though.

There are quite a few very good players in this game tbh, but its all about how active you are able to be, as well as how quickly you learn.

Don't forget Yarlin either. That guy is also a top 10 player at any time he is playing actively. Dalak plays a pretty mean game too, when he is active :P

Multi'ed on Fant and Mant same era and only managed 2nd in both worlds ! LOL

At least he got 2nd Revenge :) Don't think you are even 1/4ths near his level or quality (both as player and as a person).

Ask 10 kingdoms to pick either Yarlin or you for their roster, and 9/10 would choose Yarlin, and 1/10 would pick you after MUCH hesitation.... :)

my list was of good players at the moment tried to pick ones people generally didnt know of as much or get noticed atm

Well, looks like Revenge got served with a huge dose of STFU. Bloody fool doesn't even belong in this thread nor does he qualify to be viewed as a "good player" (no where near "greatest"), yet still wants to poke his nose in... LOL!
