Sad news about our beloved Slade 15:45:41 Jan 19th 21 - King Justanius Fontainius XLV: Hey guys, I dont really play the game anymore. But I have known Slade from VU for way over a decade. We use to check up on each other once in a blue moon on Facebook. Well anyway, I can see from all the condolences on his profile that he has passed away. I miss the guy and we had some great times playing here, this is how we met. I am sure a lot of you guys knew him well also, so I wanted to also let you guys know. I absolutely loved being in the same KD as him. He brought so much good energy and was fun. I know he is somewhere on the other side cracking jokes and having a laugh. Thats just how the guy was, one of the best team mates a fella could have. REST IN PEACE SLADE <3 | ||||

Really a bit lost now, I half grew up with the guy in my VU history. Strangest and saddest thing i've experienced in a long time. | ||||
I’m pissed. I knew about the brothers fighting (long history of it) but never imagined how out of control it was. Knew a little about the brother’s drug and theft history. Josh kind of down played it all. I’m sad. Still sitting here in disbelief. | ||||
I only heard a little bit about their fighting and drugs, didn't hear about theft, and mostly just remember how we had a big catch up moment around october/november where we both just talked about how we were both doing so much better in life and how bright the future was looking for us both. Just doesn't seem real. | ||||

Regarding this thread I actually asked him what his plan was for this The idea was pretty big and would require some work... He wanted to implement movie/historic events in VU For first one he wanted to work on getting that scene from movie 300 When 300 of the best fighters fight Persian empire of hundreds of thousands... His idea was have for example 10 elite players, best in the game And have them fight the 30 others He also planned to ask map makers to build a new map for this That would give only 1 or 2 passages So that these 10 players would be able to defend. He also wanted to form several other themes This idea was only in the beginning, but he seemed very passionate about it I never really talked to him much, but regarding this idea he was really happy explaining what he was thinking I even tried to explain 10 players would stand no chance against 30 But he did not agree at all, wanted to test it... Is there a way to find old Discord conversations? I am pretty certain I talked to him in Discord, and I would like to find that conversation. | ||||
if you've never deleted the discord messages they'll still be saved. however once you delete them they are gone. they dont keep them in archive. | ||||
I would be in favour in somehow trying to organize something along what Jasmina described in Josh's memory. Though we'd obviously need the proper players and map, which may be hard to organize. Depending on who the 10 are and who the 30 are, I'd imagine that it's not impossible for the 10 to win if the map only has 1-2 passages. | ||||

I found a gofundme page his Mom set up to cover the funeral costs (their goal was met) and in the description it says we are wanting to celebrate his life the way he would want us to by telling stories about the man he had become and that we all knew and loved so much oh And he would be really impressed if we all used a lot of those big words we all knew he loved especially when he use to say something and I would give him that blank look & he would say oh let me dumb it down for u lol ♀️ so I have many Slade stories, but my first VU encounter was running with Aussie and Grayfish taking over cities and getting a request from him to let him plunder a city I had just acquired .. he didn’t want war, nor the city… he just needed a quick cash influx to continue his taking out of a specific person. I think I might have spit my coffee I laughed so hard. Slade antics was also my introduction to VU antics … | ||||
Sad to hear of this tragedy. We bumped heads often but always respected what he brought to the game. | ||||

Very sorry to hear about this. For some reason this game popped into my head so I thought I would check in. Slade was a great bloke who I spoke to on chats, forums and ofcourse played with and against many years ago. | ||||

Popped in to check up on the game, didn't expect to see this :( Very sad, Slade was truly a great guy, I loved chatting with him in game and on skype, known him for years. Even a year ago he was talking about how his life was getting better and things were looking up. RIP Josh, you will be missed <3 | ||||
