18:43:16 Jul 5th 14 - Mr. Chief Executive Officer:

does or has anyone played any games similar to this one? something with the same map style and restarts fresh regularly, now mind you any game that uses the upgrading timer thing holds no interest for me, Games like Dragons of Atlantis on Facebook. it doesnt have to be a new game, just something that is strategic. I started with Utopia on Swirve when i was 12 i think. then i found VU, i havent searched around a lot when i do i find nothing but garbage.

even beyond this type of game what else does everyone play?

i dont play too much, CoD on Xbox 360, and elementsthegame.com which is a Magic the gathering type game.

03:07:27 Jul 6th 14 - Polydeuces (Konig Polydeuces):

There is another game that is sort of similar to this, but it sucks and I can't remember waht it's called.. I doubt you'll find what your looking for.

05:23:20 Jul 6th 14 - Mr. Chief Executive Officer:

well im just wondering what others play to occupy time between ticks. i like to think about the games i play. like in elements, being a card game i have a lot of options and a lot to consider when building a deck. Its similar to VU in that fashion. which is why between ticks im playing that. I used to play on Dominategame.com which is a Risk knockoff, what i like about that was the timer, you could pick options for how fast people had to play and i was able to play really fast. plus i didnt have to wait forever for a turn.

06:22:37 Jul 6th 14 - Polydeuces (Konig Polydeuces):

I play WoW, Mount and Blade: Warband, DCUO, Warframe, Terraria, Minecraft... PC, PS4, PS Vita

17:10:43 Jul 6th 14 - shyers (Grandmaster Blaster):

I play pocket pool and where is thumbkin. Wanna join me?

17:57:07 Jul 6th 14 - Stirlin (Dark Prince Stirlin):

just started playing Men of War

usually play several games throughout the year with some vu guys, Football Manager, Dayz Mod, Risk

23:38:33 Jul 6th 14 - Mr. Sonic Screwdriver:

I use to play Ikariam. It was ok but more of a time drain then vu. Has some similar game play.

01:54:49 Jul 7th 14 - shyers (Grandmaster Shyers The Creep):

stir forgot to mention he plays pocket pool with me too

20:41:57 Feb 24th 16 - Arkantos (Sir Ajax):

anyone know any good strategy games that don't need a crazy good computer? For playing in between turns. I am thinking games like Rome: Total War, Romance of the Three Kingdoms and Mount and Blade: Warband. Was looking for something along those lines I don't mind horrible graphics as long as the gameplay is excellent.

05:54:14 Feb 25th 16 - Mr. Torroth:

Pillars of eternity.     -it's a newer version of baldurs gate. gotta use tactics with the right combo of characters, magic, etc etc etc.

want army sized strategy + real person view of yourself on the battlefield commanding the army you can grow and recruit etc..play "Warband" it's generical graphics cause its an older game..but I used to get addicted to playing it for some reason. Maybe it was the polo ideal of attacking people from horseback..long long game. might take a year to beat.

19:49:56 Feb 26th 16 - Mr. Spoon:

European Universalis IV is the greatest strategy game created thus far imo. Expensive due to the big load of DLC though which you will end up buying if you get hooked (I spent at least €100 on this game and its DLC because I couldn't wait for it to go on sale).
Multiplayer community is pretty big too if you dislike singleplayer.

I play on a four year old Macbook Pro and it works fine.

00:20:04 Feb 27th 16 - Arkantos (Sir Ajax):

i'm looking for ones i can get for free :P

00:22:42 Feb 27th 16 - Mr. Spoon:

*cough* torrents *cough*

00:37:03 Feb 27th 16 - Arkantos (Sir Ajax):

my computer is too slow for Rome:total war... And I hate torrents.

00:56:03 Feb 27th 16 - shyers (Mr. Shy):

Did I mention pocket pool? It never gets old and I'm a master at it. I win every time

02:04:04 Feb 27th 16 - Mr. Torroth:

civilization is also like those games..not sure what the latest one is..

18:44:39 Feb 27th 16 - Duke Chade That Went Tothe Moon:

Lotro (lord of the rings online)
diablo 3
LoL (not that often though)
Minecraft
Star Craft: Brood War
Heroes 3 Shadow of Death

02:35:35 Mar 2nd 16 - Mr. Uwer:

Omg, Ajax. Cant believe I found someone that played Romance of the Three Kingdoms...lol.

I played on SNES (IV: Wall of Fire) and my first pick was Cao Cao. Lets see... starts with one city, has a bad ass beard and the flag is dark purple. This is it! A choice with 16 years old...lol.

It is sad that most of these games dont have multiplayer.

If you are going for old school, Lords of the Realm II (Sierra PC-Win) can give you some good hours of entertainment. I played modem multiplayer at that time. Was very cool.

Ive roamed far and wide, Ajax. VU is the best multiplayer thing of the style, and it has to be very good to top them all.

We could make a new game. Ive worked on games all my life, was working on a table game but cant get money to continue coz its a huge RPG for 9 players without the need of a Game Master.

Zeta is an inspiration and a mastermind. I hope someday I can develop or work together for some game

And a game that every hardcore player should play its called: Dark Souls I (XBOX).

You are not really hardcore til you finish it.

22:28:41 Mar 2nd 16 - Mr. Torroth:

Dark souls III is out..graphics are awesome

12:24:56 May 3rd 16 - Lord Jellybean (Mr. Jellybeanz):

Stardew Valley is pretty sweet.

13:03:34 May 3rd 16 - Tyrin (Mr. Longer Rulername):

ROOTK VII for the ps2 was the best of the series imo. Just throwing it out there :)

If you have DosBox (Dos emulator that Ive been using since my windows ME with 512mb of ram days, so cant imagine your pc cant handle it) alot of old Dos games are still good are now free. Fantasy Empires from DnD is a topdown army strat game that is a bit unbalanced once you figure it out and get good at it, but occasionally Ill get the craving to play it since the map randomizer helps prevent it from getting too stale.

Dune II is still good to this day as well if youre like me and dont care about graphics if the gameplay is good.

Those games and the first 3 ROTTK are all free with many others on this site

15:57:15 May 3rd 16 - The Real Josh (Prince Sladen):

Dynasty warriors 1-8(Empires) CLASSIC game

Never winter nights
Company of heroes
Homeworld
Magic the gathering online
Civilization

all great games i play to pass the time between ticks

14:50:46 Aug 8th 16 - McMax (Mr. Mcmax The Rusty):

Stronghold. Have played that for 25 months now. Tend to be somewhat expensive when you have played it for some time (if you want to stay among the better 20% of the players that is - else you can play for free).

The game miss some of the features, that we have here. Several actual. But it surely also have something we could use here.

I just say: If Zeta and the programmers of Stronghold took a serious look at each others games and took the best from both places. What a game that would be.

00:23:13 Aug 9th 16 - Mr. Uwer:

Stronghold is good. Old games are. Here a list of games to try:

- Castles II -  Interplay - PC/DOS
- Lords of the Realm II - Sierra - PC/DOS
- Romance IV of the Three Kingdoms - KOEI - SNES
- Stronghold - Firefly Studios - PC/Win 98
- Heroes of Might and Magic 2 or 3. It reminds of VU because each race has 6 different units. Its interesting, it even moves like VU. Turn based. - New World Computing - PC/Win 98

Some mentions to Caesar II - Sierra - PC/Win 95 (its better than 3 and Pharaoh IMO but they are ok). These are city simulation with some.

01:23:04 Aug 9th 16 - HorusPanic (Lord Horus):

I play tagpro

23:29:38 Sep 25th 16 - Mr. Coolcat:

no game has yet surpassed command and conquer.

21:29:22 Oct 4th 17 - Mr. Varian Wrynn:

Sup guys, i've been out from VU n played bunch of games 😂😂🐴. Anyway, I'm currently playing "Durango" mobile Open World game. If any of you playing it, I'll be there to Help you. I'm Top player there XD 😅

07:00:16 Dec 18th 18 - McMax (Battlemage Digitus Tertius III):

Think this thread deserved a *bump*.

Maybe "one" has stubled over something interesting?!

09:14:42 Dec 18th 18 - heroix (Conqueror Heroix):

Does anyone know/play games similar to VU gameplay? Most of those you mentioned aren't really.

I know two that meet criteria of:
- multiplayer browser strategy
- relatively free map
- slow paced (game going for days, months)
- unique mechanics (no Travian clones)

Those are:
Neptune's Pride https://np.ironhelmet.com
Supremacy 1914 https://www.supremacy1914.com

Sup guys, ik u guys are pretty busy with RL issues these days just like me, so i'll get to the point.

There's a game pretty good which follows close concepts of vu; Not saying like/better than VU, thats up to players to decide. The game was new 6-8 months ago but started getting popular already with +500k registered players at least. i believe +1 million now.

It has many servers like 100 players world, 50 player worlds, 22 players tutorial world(2x speed), Event worlds n many more pro worlds. Gameplay is almost same as VU with Allies, moving armies, attacking provinces/armies, conquer countries; in some event worlds you have play Alone! you can follow your own strategy caz in 100 players world it will be rusty :) No rules/ punishment for Betrayal, in fact players will do anything to kill you as Only 1 Player/1 Alliance can win. For 100 player worlds Alliance has max 5 members.

Has Paying methods via Golds, but not P2P caz you can get tons of Golds after winning a World n ranking Top at end. Not impossible to win worlds without using single golds, if u have skills.

Tons of strategies with Secret weapons, Rocket, Nuclear Nukes; or u can just focus on 1 military sector! it will fully depend on you.

But bad news is, i cant share the Game link/name. It might hit VU badly, cant do that. I could be the worst player that vu had, but still i love vu & Zeta.

P.S.: if you folks are way too much excited to play, i might recruit 4 players(must be well-active) whom will not Reveal the game, for forming a unbeatable coalition. In that case, u can PM me, except Venomz. I dont hate him but cant Trust someone who Hates me. Least Requirements: Discord, Coordination, Activity; caz we wont play against vu players ;)

Thats it folks. I'll stay in touch with vu, even tho i left. Heartful Love to ALL of you played with me. Cheers.

Screenshots Below:

100 player world

From starting in a 100 player world:

My new made Coalition, but i'm no new here.

Each world has its own Newspaper/Forum thread where players/coalitions can post/ write article including seeing info of other countries.

18:35:01 Feb 6th 19 - McMax (Battlemage Digitus Tertius IV):

Remember to seek and find active players (or former active) players reviews. They are very often like:

No updates.
No fixing of glitches.
It cost money of you want to raise just a little in ranks.
Etc. etc. etc.

Just I have have written was what I found out with Stronghold Online (I did pretty well I say - but I also used more real money during that 1½-2 years or so I played, than I want to tell my wife).

McMax:

Mc this isnt that type of game anyway, the one you played. But i do played many games like Stronghold online; for exmpl- Avalon online, Vikings: war of clans, Inavasion: modern empire(my friends still play like crazy), DomiNations, Brutal Age: Horde invasion, Sea Game: Mega carrier, Rise of civilizations, Terminator Genesys: Future war(by Plarium LLC), Stormfall: rise of balur, Soldiers Inc: Mobile Warfare. I played all of these games :)

08:13:53 Feb 7th 19 - heroix (Conqueror Malthael):

From the screenshost I could bet it's just another Supremacy 1914 copy made by the same company. They are all shit in comparison to original success. They sold themselves our after that one. But Supremacy is still playable.

14:38:24 Feb 7th 19 - The Stoned:

I played many of game over my years.  My main game is Eve online, followed by VU here.  I tried many other but none ever took me like these two have:)

Eve went free to play on some lvls... unsure what will happen with eve as ccp sold it to pearlabyss... time will tell :P

Mate i chacked Supermacy 1914, its way  too out dated mate. And this one is much more different with latest graphics, army movings & more latest features. Obviously not from the same company, not even close. What u can do in vu, available on that game too.

But yes u can say its copied from supermacy, all ik i the game is 1 year old. Even if they copied, they updated everything, changed gameplay & performance including adding WebGL to take the game on next level.

17:50:08 Feb 8th 19 - Sir Edi The Great:

Thank you for suggesting Supremacy, I started playing and I like it!

It is closest to what VU has, the free movement on the map. Sure, its not like VU, because there are set up roads, so you can't walk around trying to intercept anyone like you can in VU, this game has the best freedom on the map.

Its set up at time of world war I, so nothing fantasy, just solders, cavalry, artillery, tanks, there are even airplanes and ships. But start is simple and I like it, you start with 20 solders in each of your 10 provinces in the country. So total of 100 soldiers, and I started playing yesterday.

Right away I started moving my troops so that all 100 are at the border of the country next to me. Its similar to VU in a way it takes time for stuff to happen, you need to spend hours to walk from place to place, but its not based on hours, it has minutes as well, so you don't reach places at the top of the hour like in VU.

One day playing I managed to take down the entire country next to me, and was already moving my troops to the other enemy. Still entire first day you only have infantry and by building some training centers and baracks, you are able to build armored cars. But its different like in VU, they are expensive and you don't get millions like in here. In two days of playing all I got is 200 soldiers, and thats about it.

I also saw a guide, he was showing to someone that he has 8 artillery units which is very good, and that is nice, cause I would hate for someone to come at me with 100k troops. It does not seem realistic. One thing I like about this game is similar to VU, if you invest time and think what you're doing, you can be good. For example, it took me an era or two to always be on top of HoH in here playing Halfers and I rarely meet anyone that outplays me to such level that makes me not want to play. Same goes for the other game, I have 23 provinces now, the most on the map, second person has only 16 (means he took 6 pieces of another country) and that puts me on 1st spot in the scores on that map. Only playing 2 days.

Its different comparing to VU cause in all this time I did not talk to anyone there, I pretty much did everything by myself, there are alliances but mostly between 2-3 countries and its rare so far. Only two countries next to me allied probably to stop me, other than that, did not talk to anyone else. I sent a letter to someone on the other side of the map to see if they would like to be allies. VU is better in that regard, much easier to make friends.

On the other hand, when you want to ask something, you click chat and there is help option, you get a reply within 2 minutes from people that know what they are talking about. Unlike here, chat is never used, and should probably be removed.

Now I am massing up my armies next to enemy capital, and I noticed bunch of their armies walking into the city. In VU we have eye in sky which is awesome, in that game they give you option to send a spy to see what they have there, and it costs real money. Which sucks big time. I did see when they were outside the city how many they had, but inside the city I can not see. So I guess I might have to risk it.

Edi i was actually wrong. Supermacy 1914 is better than the game i showed. I saw an old youtube video of gameplay, sorry for that.

agree with you.

douple post... request deleting.

Also i forgot to mention Edi, you are playing at a Tutorial World of only 31 total players, where all players are new. So communications will be a bit lesser in this world. n lots of players wont be much active, even might leave.

But when you'll play 100 player Worlds & 500 player worlds, without coalitions, communications & Allies, you'll be end up dead pretty fast :) i say play more, then compare XD. I'd say the game concept pretty close from VU & gameplay in next lv.

19:18:58 Feb 8th 19 - Mr. Fecker:

19:22:18 Feb 8th 19 - McMax (Battlemage Mcmax The Shepherd):

Good mix.

11:05:50 Feb 9th 19 - heroix (Conqueror Malthael):

Wow, actually UI got completely revamped! And got an mobile app too. Last time I checked it was good old' design and it wasn't more that 3-6 months ago. Maybe I'll start playing again as it's possible to play from phone now. PM me if you'd like to form an alliance or something later.

EDIT: It actually changed only 3 months ago. And I've been member since early betas of 2007.

14:45:32 Feb 17th 19 - Sir Edi The Great:

Still playing Supremacy

And its funny, I started 8th of February, and the game has been updated twice already. Quite the difference to what we have here...

Cool thing is that there are new maps opening every day, so you can always start fresh, and that is cool, but also bad on some aspects.
On two maps I started, I died.
But on the very first that I started, I am still 1st and by far the most powerful on the map, and I noticed most people quit, except 3 that are still playing . Sure, its only 31 players at start, but all quit but 3... That is because there are so many new maps opening every day, if you fail for a bit on one, you just give up.

15:14:59 Feb 20th 19 - Osiris (Dark Lord Osiris):

Hmm everyone quitting the second you have a setback doesn't sound too fun to me

16:00:12 Feb 20th 19 - Mr. Septimus Wuu:

The same happened in Neptune's Pride that was recommended here a while back.

17:29:05 Feb 21st 19 - Sir Edi The Great:

It is very different to what we have here...

When you break the enemy, they go offline and then you just take over cities
With little to no resistance.

When you go inactive in Supremacy, the game turns on their AI
So the inactive countries are actually active, as AI controls it.
Not a bad AI at all. Stays neutral, but if attacked will attack you as well.

Everyone has eight cities at start I think, and if you take 2-3 cities from AI
And move on, without leaving defenses there, AI will just sneak armies in there and retake it. You have to be smart about it, try to block roads so they can't walk to the city. Leave defenders in important places.

There are maps with 500 players, I happen to start at the 31 players one, and that is tutorial that vets can not join. I have defeated coalitions of 2 countries, it was a hard battle but I managed to beat them. So it was fun at start, then over time countries went inactive.

Thing is, when person is active they will train more, so its harder to beat them. AI is easier to defeat cause they only train infantry, and you can use artillery, tanks, planes, ships so its easy. Just comparing to VU, when enemies give up its boring.

17:50:31 Feb 21st 19 - heroix (Conqueror Malthael):

I've started playing it again, since it has an app now. And it's fun. There's much more fighting and much less farming than VU. If someone want's to join a game together - write me up. We can form a coalition there.

Here's some screenshots of how it looked only half a year ago (legacy mode) and now:

23:18:20 Feb 21st 19 - Duke Chade The Hawtandsexy:

Is anyone playing Grepolis?

Osiris:

Hmm everyone quitting the second you have a setback doesn't sound too fun to me

Osi when you a beginner in Supermacy, you'll spawn in small tutorial worlds. Those peeps go offline often as they quit the game most cases. But when u enter 100 player or 150 players world, you'll be surprised! Those r full of active vets most cases. There are also custom game makings n Alliance challenge games.
