What do you do for a living
16:07:06 Dec 15th 20 - Lady Jasmina:

What do you do for a living?

How happy are you with your work?

What would you consider "perfect" job for you?

I often see adds when some millionaire offers a huge salary to watch over a house on a private island, only catch being nobody else can go there. Most people do not consider that to be that tempting after thinking about it.

In addition, I even saw an article about video game testing, which many would consider quite nice, but it was something like:

  • Video game testing sounds like a dream job for many people.
  • After all, you get paid to play video games all day long…right? Well, no, not exactly.
  • The truth is, video game testing is a highly challenging career that requires more than just leisurely thumbing through video games. You may be the best Grand Theft Auto player in your group, but that doesn’t mean you would make a great video game tester.
  • While this is a highly desirable job with relatively-low educational requirements, most people actually use it as a springboard for a career in the video game industry. In fact, it’s the opportunities, not the pay nor the “play,” that attracts most people to the position.

So tell me, what would you consider dream job for you?

16:12:30 Dec 15th 20 - Lord Caedus:

I'm a trained teacher and university lecturer - currently on sabbatical to finish my PhD. Not sure what's next as I moved from UK to Germany... hoping to stay in research if possible.

Dream job is to continue as a researcher or be in full time ministry for my church.

16:37:38 Dec 15th 20 - Lord Jellybean (Mr. Crixus Prime):

I've been graduated for 2.5 years, working as a backend developer at fintech company in London.

My dream is to leave and travel the world making  mobile games on my laptop. Making steady steps towards that each day, hopefully in about 2 years I can leave and try it out :)

19:49:59 Dec 15th 20 - Dragon Prophet Theophilus:

I teach History for 6-8th grade at a small Charter School.

I formerly taught 7-9th grade Science alongside some upper level history courses at another school on topics like The Cold War and Civil Rights and Liberties in the 20th Century.

I've worked as a political organizer and have twice been a candidate for my state legislature in my early 20s.

I love teaching. I love teaching at a charter school.

20:07:52 Dec 15th 20 - Percy (Sir Percy The Tired):

Graduated a year ago (literally to the day) and have been working in my lab group’s research lab on campus continuing my Master’s research project. My job currently is an Aerospace Engineer focusing on research involving Unmanned Aerial Systems (drones). Likely about to transition to industry within the next 6 months doing much the same thing, but with better pay :)

I love my work, as I find joy in developing and testing new things. It’s very dynamic and always something new to learn, which keeps it interesting. Can be quite annoying writing various papers on it all though...

My dream is to work at a place that values one’s personal life, allowing for flexible scheduling for travel and family life. I want to travel frequently to places I’ve never been before, a passion I share with my gf. So long as the work itself is RnD-centric and generally involves UAS, I’m down! Fingers crossed the company I’m about to apply for is all that.

03:45:08 Dec 16th 20 - Phat (Mr. Unwilling Arma):

I sort of fell into being an IT director for a non profit. I'm decently happy, the pay instead great and the hours are wild, but the work is fulfilling and I'm always learning and growing on the job, which is great.

If this job had a bit more manageable expectations and a market rate, I'd be thrilled with it!

04:05:41 Dec 16th 20 - Haldimir (Mr. Haldimir of Coz):

I'm a software QA analyst for a game development company, developing a browser based casino games. Been in this line of work for over 8 years now, I quite happy but not contended, wanted to pursue better opportunity.

My dream job it to become a chef and own several restaurants.
