John Miller saw a familiar figure approach the security system, and approached him, ready to draw his pistol just in case.
"Identify yourself."
Dom turned around and held his finger up to his lips.
"Shhh."
John crouched down and crouch-ran to Dom, keeping his footsteps quiet. He didn't say a word, no words were needed.
Dom held up one finger to signal to Miller to wait a moment. He then turned and removed a small device from his coat and placed it over some of the exposed circuits of the security system. Dom tweaked with several more things before pushing a button on the device and turning around again.
"On three" whispered Dom as quietly as he could.
He held up three fingers and slowly lowered them one after another. Then he approached the backdoor and found a stronger security system in place. Dom also heard some voices through the wall, but could not hear exactly what they were saying. He waited a few moments in an attempt to find out what was happening.

"Jeremy is dead, dammit! I'm next! The security system is good right? We'll know when they come? Right? RIGHT!?" asked Christopher, obviously paranoid.
"Sir, we'll know, stay calm. You need to stay calm!" said one of his bodyguards.
"Yeah...yeah...calm...I need to be calm...I need to be ca-AH FUCK! It's probably Miller! That fucking nutcase!" yelled Christopher.
"If it's Miller, I promise you that I'll blast him to hell," promised the bodyguard.
"Yeah, well...STOP TALKING TO ME! Look out the fucking windows! Stay alert or something!" ordered Christopher.

The bodyguard began walking to the front door, Miller and Dom were positioned outside of the back door.
"I'll take the bodyguard, you disable Chris," whispered Miller.
Dom nodded silently, wanting to keep the sound to a minimum. John looked down at the doorknob and nodded his head at the door. Dom understood and took a step back before kicking the door with all of his might, snapping the lock and swinging it wide open. John rushed through the door holding his silenced Firefly pistol in a two-handed grip. He pressed the trigger down twice and two projectiles zoomed out, piercing the bodyguard in the neck and head. Dom followed quickly behind Miller and quickly fired two bullets at Guisse, striking him in the shoulder and leg, dropping him to the ground instantly. Guisse screamed in pain, and Miller heard footsteps. He strafed to face the staircase as the footsteps stopped. Miller shot several times at the top of the stairs and the bodyguard jumped down the stairs, the bullets having missed him. Upon him entering Miller's sight, however, he had two bullets coming at him, and was struck in the right leg and hip. He tumbled down the stairs, and Miller put a final shot in his head before ejecting the used clip from his pistol and inserting a new one.
"I'll secure the house," said Miller before cautiously walking up the stairs.
Dom walked over to Guisse and quickly grabbed a pistol from Guisse’s breast holster that he was weakly groping for. As Dom grabbed the pistol, John ran down the stairs and grabbed the dead bodyguards' weapons. He found a LanCo KP-15 9mm pistol and a Ieron-7 submachine gun. After sticking them in his beltline, John ran over to Guisse. Dom flipped Guisse over onto his back.
"Tell me everything you know about the mob and a man named Dalone," growled Dom.
"I don't know!" screamed Guisse in reply, but Dom pistol-whipped him in the face.
"Tell me who Dalone is!" repeated Dom.
"Goddamnit! He is a security guy who works for the higher ups! The guy has more connections than the transit system in this city! If you try searching for him, you are as good as dead! He is in the upper areas! I heard he is close to the chief of police!"
"I wouldn't doubt it, the guy's about as crooked as they get," declared John.
"Just one more question. Where is Vincent Culthson?" asked Dom. Guisse's eyes widened suddenly and he struggled to move away despite his injuries but Dom slammed him against the ground.
"Kill me now! I don't want him haunting me! Kill me now! He might as well own the city's infrastructure!" screamed Guisse wildly.
"Do you want your death painful, or painless, scum?" asked John menacingly.
"You...you're Miller..." realized Guisse.
"Do whatever you want with him. I think we need to see the police chief next...even though that will be pretty hard to do with him in the upper areas," said Dom.
"Alright, go search the house for clues," suggested John.
"Exactly what I was planning on doing," said Dom before running upstairs.

"Well, Mr. Guisse, tell me something useful," said John.
"I told you everything I know, dammit!" yelled Guisse.
"Oh no, I'm not sure of that," said John as he began unscrewing his Firefly's silencer.
"What are you gonna do?" asked Guisse.
"Tell me, Guisse, have you ever been used as a silencer?" asked John.
Guisse's eyes widened, and John let a smile grow on his face.
"I don't know shit!" yelled Guisse.
"I disagree, you seem quite learned," judged John.
"I was, and now you are, I don't know anything!" yelled Guisse.
John pushed his Firefly's barrel into Guisse's legwound and pulled the trigger.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" screamed Guisse in great agony.
John pulled the Firefly out and drew his knife, stabbing it up behind Guisse's chin, through his mouth, and into his brain. Guisse was silent, and quite dead. John pulled his knife out, wiped it on Guisse's shirt, and sheathed it. He wiped off his Firefly as well and began screwing the silencer back on. Dom came back down as he did so with several binders full of papers and files. Dom handed Miller one of the binders.

"Holy shit John, what were you doing?" asked Dom as he surveyed the mess.
"Well…hard to explain…"
"Screw it…looks like some information that was supposed to be destroyed. We can look at it later, but I think we need to get out of here."
"You take the back, I'll go out the front and make sure somebody sees me. I did this alone with two pistols, hand me yours."
"Alright," replied Dom as he handed Miller the pistol he had used, another from an old murder case, and headed for the back.
Miller fired off several shots from Dom's pistol into Guisse's body and ran to the front, unlocked the door (making sure to leave a fingerprint on the lock). He ran outside and saw several people watching from outside. He also heard sirens.
"Ah shit..." muttered John before holstering his pistols and running with the binder in between his arm and his side. The roar of the sirens grew louder and John began sprinting. John looked back and saw that the police had stopped at Guisse’s house. It was dark, they didn’t see him running. He turned a corner and continued sprinting.
There’s a subway entrance near here, where the hell is it!?

John ran around several blocks, and knew that soon the police would be searching for him. Around another corner, he saw a subway entrance, and silently cheered as he ran down the stairs. He turned and ran down another set of stairs, there was nobody in sight. The luck! He jumped over the ticket collection machine and continued running, down the stairs and onto the platform. There was no train yet, and it wouldn’t take long for the cops to check the subway platform. John couldn’t attempt to blend in, there was nobody to blend in with. Not thirty seconds later, he heard a train coming. It came to a stop, and walked in. After another thirty seconds, the doors shut and the train pulled off.
"Holy shit…" muttered John. He would look at the contents of the binder at his safe house, for now he needed to think and rest.

Dom heard the sirens as he left through the back door and cut through several neighboring homes while Miller was distracting the police.  He hurdled a fence and crawled through some bushes until he was about a block away.  Dom peeked around and saw no police heading in his direction.  He casually walked across the street, got into his car, and drove off in the opposite direction of the police.  Instead of heading back to his office, he drove straight home and hid the binders and weapons he had with him in several secret compartments.  Then he locked his doors and went to sleep.

John walked into his safe house and immediately locked his door with the several locks he had installed. He activated his primitive security system as well before hiding the several weapons he had received during his mission. The Ieron-7 submachine gun was inferior to his KSM-25, but the KP-15 was better than his Firefly in all respects except for the fact that it didn’t accommodate for a suppressor. He would fix that soon, but for the time being, he would use his Firefly.

He put a pot of soup on the oven and began looking over the documents. He was in luck, as quite a few of them were dossiers on "important" criminal figures in the slums. Listed were their aliases, their hangouts, and most had pictures and other statistics. John ate his soup as he went over the documents, and when he was done, he noticed how tired he was. He decided against going out to kill them while exhausted, and collapsed onto his bed.

The night went by quickly for Dom.  He slept soundly after being completely exhausted.  When he woke up, he had only thirty minutes to read over the binders of information.  Sadly, he only found information on some small-time bosses in the criminal world.  As he was about to give up and prepare for work, he found the file for a man named Gabriel Jeron, a higher crimeboss and was probably considered to be a middle level boss.  Dom knew there were probably less than a dozen of those bosses and that they were more important to the entire criminal organization than the trash that him and Miller had been dealing with.  Dom was sad that he didn't find anything on the man named Dalone or Vincent Culthson, but he had something better than nothing.

Dom quickly dressed for work after hiding the documents and drove to the office right on time.  Martin was already there and glanced up from his desk as Dom came in.
"Lot of work these days huh?" asked Martin, as if testing his 'partner' for signs of any kind of deceit.  Dom shrugged and sighed.
"Was on a wild goose chase all day yesterday.  Some nut kept calling me and telling me to go places and I ended up lost on the southside.  Almost got jacked by a bunch of punks until I pulled out my gun," replied Dom as he sat down at his desk.  Martin watched him carefully but knew that his tail had fallen short in keeping an eye on Dom.  Hugo strolled into Dom's office with a stack of papers and set them on the edge of his desk.
"More paperwork Mister K," said Hugo.
"You call me Mister K one more time and I am going to use you for target practice Hugo," replied Dom with a grumble.
"Sure thing Mister K," replied Hugo with a smile and he turned to leave the office, but Dom closed the door with lightning speed.
"Hugo, this room is soundproof.  What do you think of John Miller, the vigilante?" asked Dom.
"Well...um...he is kind of making our job easier by killing the scum of the city.  Sadly, the police forces would rather throw them in jail or accidentally lose their trail," replied Hugo, now taking on a more serious tone.
"What would you do if you happened to find John Miller...right in front of you...and he was defenseless?" asked Dom.
"Well, I would probably hand him the gun because he seems better with it, hehe," joked Hugo.  Dom paused for a moment and then reached for the door.
"This conversation never happened Hugo," said Dom as he opened up the door.  Hugo nodded and walked out.  He was a good kid and honest.  Dom wondered why he felt a sense of hesitation when it came to Martin, and he decided against doing the same thing with him.

Dom decided to work in the office for most of the day, hoping to get back to a regular routine for a day or two.  Several minutes after he decided to get back on schedule, his phone rang.  Dom closed his door like he traditionally did with phone calls and answered it.
"Kaine Detective Agency, Detective Kaine speaking," said Dom.
"Good morning Detective," said a warped voice on the other end of the line.
"May I ask who is calling?" asked Dom curiously.
"This is Helen.  I am glad to see that you are still working hard, but I feel that your job will only be getting harder.  You see, something has been going on in the upper levels of the city.  A lot of activity has been going through the criminal ranks.  I don't know exactly what it is...but it is not good.  Be careful while out there detective.  I sense that something bad is nearing," said the warped voice before the phone went dead.

Gabriel Jeron sat in his usual chair that sat in a nicely lit living room within his rather nice home.  It was too small to be considered a mansion by any means, but it was not a simple home either.  Several men were standing in front of him, tweaking some device on the back of one of his usual bodyguards.  Suddenly, the man disappeared completely from his sight.
"Amazing...it really does work.  Doctor, I believe you have outdone yourself," said Jeron with a grin.
"It seems that the prototype phase is over.  We will be leaving you with this gift and will take our results back the boss," replied one of the men.  The group of men then left the home of Gabriel Jeron, leaving him the gift of a prototype personal cloaking device(PCD).

Several gunshots broke the silence of the lowest levels of the slums.  A man dashed through the damp and dark streets with a small crowd of mutants chased after him.  The lowest levels of Nargess were known only by a small group of people for having 'mutants' as they were called.  People who had lived in the darkest, dampest, and most disgusting of conditions until their minds wasted away and their bodies were affected by the horrid conditions.  They were insane, had grotesque growths on their bodies, and were more animalistic than human anymore.  The man sprinted until he reached a dead end alley and he spun around to see a pack of mutants cornering him.  He pulled out a shortgun from his side and fired several shells in their direction, dropping several to the ground in pools of blood.
"A higher leveler?" roared one of the mutants and the comment seemed to drive the rest of the mutants into a frenzy.  They charged towards the man and dove towards him as he fired more shells.  One managed to make it to him and slammed him into a stone wall, but it apparently was not as sturdy as it seemed.  It collapsed and revealed a large cavern that was filled with water.  The man and several mutants fell almost fifteen feet into a large basin filled with water.  The water grew red as the man revealed a 9mm pistol and fired it until the clip emptied.  He pulled himself out of the water and gasped for breath.  One of the mutants roared as it pulled itself from the water.  Bradley Cunningham just finished reloading his pistol and he put several fresh bullets in its head.  He then walked through the darkness until he found a ladder and climbed up without a sound.

John Miller woke in the early hours of the morning as always. He had never needed much sleep. He made bacon and eggs, cleaned the plate, went to the bathroom, and got dressed in his usual attire. He concealed his knife, his Firefly, his sawed-off shotgun, and his SMG. He unlocked his door, walked outside, and stuck half a toothpick in the door as always before shutting and locking it. He walked down the stairs and into the street.

***

John was standing across the street from a large building, his hood up. He had been watching it for several hours, and he knew that Joe Bellin, a "sanctioned" arms dealer, was inside. He was simply waiting for the right moment, and the right place, to strike. Bellin had around seven guards inside, and based on the fact that he was an arms dealer, they were probably armed to the teeth. Bellin almost never left his "fortress", so John would have to break in. He continued watching for a while, and after around twenty minutes, a truck pulled up and stopped outside. The driver stepped out and John saw his chance. He looked up and saw that nobody was looking out the windows. He crouch-ran over to the truck as fast as he could and rolled underneath before grabbing on and pulling himself up. He waited for around two minutes, and the driver got back in and pulled the truck inside and turned into an empty space before stopping. The doors to the outside closed, and the driver stepped out.
"Whatcha got inside?" asked one of the guards.
"You know what the fuck I got, get it unloaded. I need to go take a shit!" yelled the driver.
Four of the building's seven guards walked over to the back of the truck and began unloading, and when all four were inside, John rolled out, took out his Firefly, and jumped around the back to see the four men looking inside the boxes. One turned and saw John.
"Oh shit!"
John pulled the trigger seven times, one of his bullets missed, and two hadn't been fatal. John closed the back of the truck and ran into the bathroom where the driver was enjoying a crap.
"Ah! Uhhhh..." grunted the driver inside one of the stalls.
Second person in two days I've killed while they're going to the bathroom...
John pulled out his knife and kicked open the stall door.
"Holy fu-!"
John jumped inside and stabbed the driver several times in the chest before cutting his throat. His blood flowed from the wounds and stained his shirt and jacket, and John felt a tinge of sorrow pass through him.
I could have let him live, I could have knocked him out, but then he'd be back on the street driving trucks again for the underworld. No, better to turn him into a pin cushion.
John closed the stall door and walked out of the bathroom with his pistol at the ready. Blood was dripping from the back of the truck, and somebody had noticed.
"Guys? Guys, this ain't funny! I know that's fuckin' juice or ketchup!" yelled a guy as he ran over to the back of the truck, he never found out if his friends were kidding or not, as he soon fell with a bullet in his brain. John took out his submachine gun and peeked around the corner to his right, seeing several rows of crates. He ran down one of the rows and saw a door marked "Rec-Room". He heard music and voices inside, and ran over. He attempted to listen, but all he heard were very bad lyrics to some crappy rap song. He opened the door quickly and sprayed bullets at the two men inside, who died before they could even react to the intruder. He also put a bullet in the boombox, just for good measure.
"HOLY SHIT! HOLY SHIT! HOLY SHIT!" screamed a man in the room marked "Manager's Office" as he grabbed his assault rifle, jumped behind his desk, and aimed his weapon at the door. John grabbed a body, shot the lock on the double-doors, and pushed it through before quickly jumping out of the way..
"AHHHHHHHHHHHH!" yelled the man as he began firing at the corpse, "DIE YOU USELESS PIECE OF SHIT!!! DIIIIIIIEEEEE!!!!"
His clip ran dry, and John jumped around the corner, unloading five bullets on Joe. He fell backwards against the wall and John ran forward before putting two bullets in his brain. He quickly went through the desk and Joe's body, taking anything he thought would be useful. He then took a picture of Joe's corpse before running out of the office, through the rec-room, and into the warehouse. Most of the crates contained pistols and submachine-guns, and thus were useless for blowing up the warehouse. With a sigh, he walked outside and down the street, making sure to lose any tails.

Dom was working at his desk for several hours when he looked up at the news.
"This is the Nargess Broadcasting News Network. I am Paul Demory, and this is my partner Nick Sanfron.  A recent update in the massacre of small-time gun runners, dealers, and criminals is just in.  Nine men were found dead at a warehouse in the lower levels.  The Nargess Police Department pinned the murders on the vigilante named John Miller who has been stringing together murder after murder," said Paul Demory.  A picture of John Miller from before his vigilante days was shown on the screen for a few seconds like it had been before when things first began.
"The vigilante is known to be armed, extremely dangerous, and mentally unstable according to the police forces," finished Nick Sanfron as the news went back to its normal programming.

Dom ran his fingers through his hair, but managed to keep his composure.  He then called Farilor and Xarxes to his office since they had just returned from an assignment.  They entered the office and closed the door behind them.
"Alright gentlemen, I am doing an analysis on several hypothetical situations.  I won't waste anytime with this.  If you had John Miller in your sights and had a gun and he didn't, what would you do?" asked Dominic Kaine.  Both men said nothing for several minutes.
"Your responses here will not get you into any trouble with the Nargess Police in any way, shape, or form.  I just want to know where our department should stand," added Dom.  Gerald Farilor spoke first.
"The Nargess Police forces are corrupt and ineffective.  The few good officers that are in the force are put behind a desk or are just tied down.  I would help him if I could," said Farilor with determination in his voice.  Ray Xarxes also nodded his approval.
"Gerald is right, the police are useless.  Miller is the one cleaning up crime rather than letting the criminals get released or let escape," added Xarxes.  Dom smiled and knew that he had everyone except Martin on his side.
"Alright you two, I will talk more with you later.  This conversation never took place.  Farilor and Xarxes noticed Dom's smile and couldn't tell if it was a good or bad thing for them, but they left the office as asked.  Dom then sent a small message to Miller through his new cell phone that he had bought not long before.  **Possible 3 new helpers**

Bradley pulled himself out of the sewers and looked around.  The slums of the city were quickly being overtaken by the increased number of mutants.  The living conditions were just too horrible for anything to survive normally.
"Hey Bradley!" shouted a man's voice.  Cunningham turned and saw his friend, Sam, standing at the end of the streets.
"We need to get the hell out of here now! More of these things are coming and I am running out of bullets!" added Sam DeVoire.  Bradley dashed to the end of the street and they saw a pack of the mutants heading their way.  A number of people were running for cover and barricading their doors, hoping to keep safe from the creatures.  Sadly, none of those people would live to see the light of day again.  Sam and Bradley sprinted away from the pack of mutants until they spotted an old office building ahead of them.
"Into the building Sam! We will take the elevator up!" said Bradley, breaking the silence that he had been known for holding for hours at a time.  Sam wasted no time in breaking through the rusted metal door and finding the elevator.
"Are you sure this thing will hold us? It doesn't look like it has been used in awhile," said Sam as he began hitting the 'UP' button on the elevator.
"It better work or we are dead!" screamed Bradley as he closed the door behind them as best as he could.  Sam then forced the elevator doors open as it arrived and they both piled inside.  Then they closed the doors as best as they could as the mutants began pouring into the building.  The creatures began attacking the outer doors of the elevator as it slowly began to rise until silence took over.
"Thank god...we made it!" said Sam with a sigh of relief.  Almost as jinxing the situation, the elevator suddenly lurched and a loud snap was heard.
"Oh no...the cables! Quick! Climb out the top now or we are dead!" screamed Bradley as he shot a hole in the ceiling.  Sam then was boosted out through the top and he grabbed a hole of one of the elevator cables as he reached for his friend.  Bradley jumped up and grasped at Sam's hand right as the elevator dropped around him and scratched the walls as it crashed back to the basement.  Sam was suspended in midair as he held onto a loose elevator cable with one hand and his friend with the other.  Both lost their shotguns and only had pistols tucked in the waist of their pants.
"Brad, you are going to have to climb up me because I cannot move anywhere right now!" said Sam as he winced through the pain.  Bradley replied by beginning to pull himself up his friend and then got a better grip on the cable after several minutes of climbing.  Sam then was offered a hand so that he could get get his legs up onto the cable as well.  The two then held on while they caught their breath.
"Sam, we are going to climb up to the next floor and then rest there," said Bradley as calmly as he could.  Two said nothing but Bradley knew that he would follow.  The two spent about thirty minutes climbing up the long and narrow cable with excruciating pain.  Finally, Bradley made it to the next level and pressed his body against the doorway that the elevator would normally stop at.  He pried his fingers into the crack of the door and forced it open.  The smell of rotting flesh met Bradley as he took a step inside and gasped for air.
"Damn, they are up here as well?" coughed Brad softly and he pulled Sam in after him.  He then pulled out a small flashlight and began looking around carefully.  The two then slowly began trying to find their way to a safe place to rest.  Darkness followed them in their wake.

-Pulchosi-5 combat shotgun

Clothing: Brown leather trench-coat, fingerless leather gloves, a gray shirt, tan cargo pants, a kevlar combat-vest, a large weapon harness, several holsters, and a whole lot of firepower!
Other: Fugitive from the police and vigilante. Working with Dominic Kaine to bring a halt to corruption.

John was working on threading the barrel of his new pistol when he heard noises outside. He opened the curtains and looked outside to see a large group of mutant creatures running down the street.
"What the fuck?"
John walked over to his table where he had several weapons spread out. He put on his double breast holster and his leg holster, putting his Ieron and KSM-25 in his leg holsters and his KP-15 and his Firefly in his breast holsters. He also put on a kevlar vest with several ammo slots weaved onto it. He then put on his brown leather trench-coat and put on a harness-pack with three slots designed to hold larger weapons. He put his assault rifle, his combat shotgun, and his baseball bat through them, and put several clips of ammo for each weapon on his kevlar vest and in his trench-coat pockets. He also slid his combat knife into his kevlar vest's built in scabbard. He put on a pair of black fingerless leather gloves and ate a bowl of soup and some bread before pocketing the cell phone Dom had given him and a flashlight. While he was eating, he had turned on the News and found out that the lower levels had been sealed due to the mutant outbreak, and he knew it would be impossible to get up to the midlevels by normal means. He pulled out his assault rifle, ran down the stairs of his safehouse, and out the front door, leaving several of his weapons behind. He walked out into the street and scanned both ways, seeing scattered mutants in both directions. He went left, running down the street as he went. It was anarchy, well, more anarchy than usual as mutants chased women, men, and children through the streets, ripping their limbs from their bodies. Several of them attempted to run at John, and he raised his assault rifle, firing a short burst into each of them. He knew where he was going, he had used the building to enter the slums during his early night-time activities back before he was a fugitive. The Garasky Building had long been abandoned, and even in the mid-levels it was in one of the poorest sections. It was like it didn't exist to most people. John continued running down the street, shooting at random mutants as he ran and inserting fresh clips when the need came. Finally, however, he turned around a corner to see massive group of around thirty mutants around forty feet in front of him, and turned around to see around fifteen more gaining ground behind him. The buildings around him were barricaded, there would be no escape. He would kill his way out, or he would die. John began firing a torrent of bullets at the large crowd of mutants, the bullets cutting into their flesh.
"RAAAAGGHHH!" several screamed before the assault rifle went dry.
John knew reloading would take too long, and drew his combat shotgun. He turned to the mutants that had been approaching and fired twelve rapid shots, and the mutants fell to the floor as John dropped his combat shotgun. He pulled his two submachine guns from his leg holsters and began firing two torrents of bullets at the mutants who were now charging at him, around ten were left alive from the assault rifle's spray. They fell while running and slid on the cracked asphalt, and John looked around. No more were coming. John reloaded his submachine guns, holstered them, and did the same for his combat shotgun and his assault rifle. He kept his assault rifle out as he ran off through the slums.

***

There had been few mutant encounters after the big one, and none had more than nine at a time, which John was thankful for. He was also very glad that they had no weaponry and weren't very agile due to their growths. The Garasky building was mostly boarded up, but as before there were two boards missing from the bottom of the door that allowed John to crawl through. Once up from the floor, he placed his assault rifle in the harness and pulled out his KP-15 and his flashlight. He held his flashlight in his left hand and his pistol in the right as he walked through the building, ready to kill any mutant he saw. Luckily, he didn't see any, probably due to the boards out the front, and he soon reached the staircase. He had never used any of the three elevators, because by now they would probably be more deadly than the mutants. He began running up the stairs, and silently began cursing, knowing he had around thirty-five stories to go. He then slowed down to a walk, knowing he had no reason to run. If any mutants chased after him, he had a nice bottle-neck of a staircase to kill them in.

***

John reached the top quite out of breath and took a breather before opening up the metal emergency door. Seventy years ago, it would have set off an alarm, but now it was useless except to keep the mutants out, which is what John planned to do as he shut it and bolted it shut.
Why the hell did they put a bolt-lock on an emergency door? Seems strange to me...
John walked through the building and out to the doorway. Outside were several people, and John knew he'd never get his weapons out without a car. He pulled out the cellular phone Dom had given him and sent a text message to Dom.

Detective Kaine,
I'm at the Garasky Building in the mid-level ghetto and I need a ride. I'll explain when you get here.

John then sat down against a wall towards the inside of the building and waited. He had no idea how long it would take for Dom to get there, but he wouldn't leave his weapons behind.

Other: Dom is a good detective wanting to clean up corruption. He has a cybernetic left eye that helps him in his job.

Dom was still in his office watching the news when suddenly warning broadcasts began appearing on his computer.  It apparently was a message that only went to the detectives and somewhat 'important' individuals in the lower levels.  The face of the man in charge of the alarm appeared on the holo screen of Dom's laptop.
"Attention! Large numbers of unknown mutant creatures are moving into the streets! Police forces have been ordered to fall back to the middle levels and seal the roads and other entrances.  You have exactly one hour to get as much of your belongings that you can and evacuate the lower levels immediately or else you will be sealed off as well!  After the one hour has passed, officers will be given orders to shoot anyone trying to break through the barriers!" said the man.  Dom froze for almost a minute before Martin barged into his office.
"Damnit Dom, we have to evacuate!" his partner yelled.  Dom cursed repeatedly as he began putting his computer into a backpack and ran to the armory.  Martin was already arming himself to the teeth while Farilor and Xarxes worked at making sure that all important documents were collected.  After Martin was finished arming himself, the two other men grabbed weapons and Xarxes handed Dom two pistols and a shotgun.  Farilor and Xarxes took two pistols and an assault rifle while Martin carried a submachine gun and a large number of pistols.
"Where is Hugo?" said Dom.  Almost as if his question was heard, Hugo's voice was heard outside.
"Get away from me you f-cking pieces of sh-t!" screamed the detective as he unloaded a pistol clip into the bodies of some mutants surrounding him.  Only one remained standing after his gun emptied and it dove at him.  Hugo pulled out his knife and began wrestling with it on the ground.  It bit at him all over his arm until Dom and Martin put enough bullets in it to render it a pile of guts.  Hugo crawled to his feet and held his bloody arm close to his chest.
"Get him some bandages!" yelled Dom.
"We don't have time! We need to get out of here!" said Martin.  Xarxes ran back into the office and came back outside with some torn cloth that he tied around Hugo's arm.  Martin hopped into Dom's car with the keys and started it up.
"Everybody in!" shouted Martin to the other four men.  Everyone squeezed into Dom's car and Martin pressed the accelerator to the floor and they sped off down the street.  Chaos was everywhere.  Fires had begun starting all over the place as people who were not warned were panicking in the streets.  Several mutants dove at the car but were cut down by bullets from Dom and Farilor's weapons.
"Damnit! The roads are full of cars and debris! Hold on!" screamed Martin as he spun on the wheel and turned down another street.  They raced around for another thirty minutes before finally finding one of the main roads that led to the middle levels.
"We are almost there!" screamed Martin as he pushed on the accelerator.
"The road is blocked up ahead!" shouted Xarxes from the passenger seat.  In front of them were piles of cars that had wrecked horribly in front of them.  Martin slammed on the breaks and they barely managed to stop.  Everyone piled out of the car and began running for the gates to the middle level that were just ahead.  Then the road groaned horribly.
"Oh no...oh god no!" said Hugo as he pointed to the piles of cars that began causing the elevated road to sink downwards.
"Sh-t! The road is gonna break!" screamed Farilor despite how useless the situation seemed.  The group continued running until they were just about to the gate.  Hugo fell to the ground behind the group and Dom stopped to get him.  Martin turned and saw the two behind him and cursed to himself.
"I am supposed to be ready to kill this guy and here I am going back to help this nobody?" he thought to himself as he turned and went back to help Hugo.  Right as he reached Dom and the injured detective, the road gave out and crumbled.  Farilor and Xarxes could only watch in horror as the three men fell a couple dozen feet into the darkness below.
"Dom! Hugo! Martin! No!" screamed Farilor as they disappeared.

*One Hour After Containment*

Bradley and Sam moved through the broken office building in almost complete darkness except for the flashlight that Bradley had.  The smell of rotting flesh filled the air and Sam could not help himself but vomit, wipe his mouth with a sleeve, and then keep going.  The two found some stairs and began heading upwards.  They continued for almost thirty minutes until they found a body with bullet holes covering it.
"This person wasn't a mutant, but he was shot..." whispered Sam.  Badley nodded and readied his pistol in his hand.  He peeked around the next corner and found several more bodies scattered around in grotesque positions on the floor.  The eyes and mouths of the dead were wide open in horror and surprise.  Bradley and Sam silently crept onwards until they came to a long stairway that led upwards.  Beams of light were coming from above them, but voices were heard approaching and they hid in the shadows.
"I don't think anyone else is coming.  Can we close the door now? The lower levels give me the creeps," said the first man.
"Just five more minutes.  My aim is getting pretty good.  It only took me seven bullets for those last three people," said the second man.  Brad grimaced and realized that the shootings were not mistakes or accidental shootings.  He clenched his gun in his hand and then spun around the corner and began shooting.
"What the fuc-" the second man started to stay before a rain of bullets tore through his body.  The first man began firing back before Sam's bullets perforated his body like it was made of butter.  The two men raced up the steps and gasped.  The two dead men were wearing police uniforms.
"What is going on? The police were shooting at us?" asked Sam.  Bradley shook his head and took their guns.
"I don't know what is going on, but we need to hide out for awhile.  Let's also close this door.  I don't want anything following us," said Brad.  They closed the large metal door after throwing the dead officers down the steps and went to hide out in the area.

Dom felt something vibrate in his pocket and found his phone lighting up in the darkness that surrounded him.  He opened it up and saw a message from Miller.
Detective Kaine,
I'm at the Garasky Building in the mid-level ghetto and I need a ride. I'll explain when you get here.
Dom sighed after reading the message.
"Wish I could help you John, but I don't think I will be able to make it," he thought to himself.  He quickly typed a message back to Miller.
"Miller.  Don't know where I am.  The damn Vanderbilt elevated road collapsed.  With Hugo and Martin."

Dom climbed to his feet and winced when he felt his broken ribs send jolts of pain through his body.  He pulled out his flightlight but found that it had helped break his fall.
"or my back..." whispered Dom to himself.  He used his cell phone light to look around and found Martin laying on the ground nearby.  His head was bleeding and he was unconscious.  Dom then thought of Hugo and looked around some more, but found the young detective laying on the ground and wincing in pain.
"Hey Mister K...is that you? I can't move so well right now..." said Hugo as he fought through the pain.  It looked like Hugo had a broken leg and arm, and Dom crouched by his side.  He then realized that Farilor had grabbed his computer bag that also had his first aid materials.  Dom swore and turned back towards Martin.  His partner was groaning and pulling himself to his feet, but fell back to the ground and held his head.
"What was I thinking...? I could have avoided this completely..." Martin said to himself.  None of them knew where they were or how they had survived the long fall, but they could not even see daylight above them.

Miller. Don't know where I am. The damn Vanderbilt elevated road collapsed. With Hugo and Martin.
"Crap, I can't leave 'em to burn..."

John got up from where he was sitting against the wall.
They'll need medical supplies...but I can't go anywhere up here without being recognized...I'll have to find it down there.

John pulled out the cell phone and began typing.
Kaine,

I know where you should be, I'll get there as soon as I can and I'll try to bring medical supplies. What condition are you guys in? What bones are broken?
John waited a minute before receiving a reply.
Hugo has broken leg. Martin has concussion. I have broken ribs.
John closed the phone and ran back to the metal door, opening the bolt and running through, not looking forward to the long walk down.

***

The walk down wasn't as bad as the walk up, but it still left him pretty tired. He walked through the building, his Firefly and flashlight out, and reached the front door. He looked underneath and saw three mutants. He got down on his stomach and shot all three with well aimed shots to the head before crawling under the boards and getting up. He reloaded three new bullets into his Firefly's clip, slid it back in, and slid the Firefly back into his holster before pulling his assault rifle from his back. He looked both ways again and began moving towards Dom's last known location, which was around twelve miles away, while keeping an eye out for some sort of vehicle in working condition.

***

He had been jogging for about a mile, having killed around fifteen mutants and no human survivors, when he found a motorcycle in decent enough condition next to a ripped apart body. He pulled it upright, stowed his assault rifle on his back, drew his KSM, and jumped on before starting it and pulling off towards Dom's location.

***

John drove for around four miles past almost thirty zombies, which were far too slow to chase or catch him. He soon saw a recently abandoned drug store and stopped. He hopped off his motorcycle, holstered his KSM, and took out his combat shotgun before going inside. The lights were still operational, and he heard the clatter of feet. He kept his back towards the wall as he walked through the store. He heard a scream and turned to see a mutant less than five feet in front of him.
*BANG*

The mutant's head exploded in a cloud of blood, brain matter, skull, and flesh. He then turned his head around and looked. He heard and saw nothing, but continued through the store cautiously anyway. He soon found the medical supplies, and looked around for something to store it in. He found compact duffel bags, grabbed one, and grabbed more than enough supplies for the reported wounds. He put the duffel bag's strap over his shoulder and ran back outside to see a group of five mutants walking down the street. They began running rapidly toward John as soon as they saw him, and he shot all five with his combat shotgun before reloading it, putting it away, drawing his KSM, jumping on his motorcycle, and driving off.

***

"Shit!"

John had gone six miles, and now saw a large elevated chunk of road in front of him. He was surprised it took this long to reach something like that, but he was still pissed. He stopped the motorcycle and jumped off to engage the seven mutants at the elevated road. Several bursts from his assault rifle killed them, and he turned to the elevated asphalt. He threw the medical bag up. It was around seven feet, so he pulled his motorcycle up next to it, climbed on top of it, and used it to reach the top. The motorcycle fell as John climbed up, he really didn't care. He grabbed the bag of medical supplies and continued running forward for around forty yards, the street was twisted and warped, and the buildings were crumbling. He pulled out his cell phone as he ran.
Two miles away. Stay alive!

Dom received Miller's text and sighed with relief.  He finally found Hugo's flashlight and began looking around.  They were in a part of the city that had been underneath of the elevated road and the electric must have been out because the lights were not working.  Dom walked over to Martin and helped him to his feet.
"Comon, you need to get over here with Hugo so I can protect both of you," said Dom as he winced through the pain of his ribs.  Martin didn't resist at all since he was barely aware of his surroundings.  Dom then found several pistols scattered around the area and brought them near where Hugo and Martin were at.  He handed Hugo a pistol for his good arm to protect himself if no one else could, and then Dom looked around for a safe place.  He saw a nearby apartment building that looked devoid of life and thought that it might work.
"Martin, do you think you can stand?" asked Dom after several minutes.  Martin mumbled something and slowly crawled to his feet.
"Alright, we are going to carry Hugo CAREFULLY over to that apartment.  I think we can barricade ourselves inside if any mutants come by," said Dom.  Martin mumbled again and moved beside Hugo as him and Dom lifted Hugo up carefully so that his leg was not bothered much.  Despite being careful, Hugo screamed in pain as his leg throbbed and bolted as if it was on fire.  The two men slowly carried Hugo over to the apartment and then up to the second floor.  Dom then closed all of the doors to the building and stacked as much debris on the stairs as he could in a short time.  Then the three of them rested in one of the small bedrooms.  Dom then texted Miller.
"In blue apartment near our location.  No mutants seen."

***

Farilor and Xarxes were panicking.  Their three superiors were suddenly gone and maybe even dead, and they were on the border of the lower and middle areas with police officers threatening them.
"If you don't get over here right now, we are going to have to shoot you!" warned one of the officers at the gate.  Farilor turned to the officer and flipped him off.
"Our three bosses just fell! We need to get help!" pleaded Farilor.  The several officers that were at the gate showed little sympathy.
"Look, we cannot risk a rescue operation.  We don't have the man-power to do such a thing and those mutants are spreading quickly.  We also have orders to shoot anyone who isn't on this side of the gate within the next five minutes, so get over here now!" warned the head officer of the group.  Xarxes and Farilor ignored the warnings for another few minutes until the officers began drawing their heavier weapons.
"This is your last warning!" yelled the head officer.  Farilor and Xarxes looked down into the dark hole that Dom, Hugo, and Martin had fallen in.  Suddenly, gunfire broke out and the three guards at the gate dropped to the ground.  Farilor and Xarxes finally spun around to see two men standing at the gate with guns in their hands.
"You said that you need a rescue operation?" said the man who was wearing a grey coat and khaki pants.  The person next to him had blonde hair and wore some tattered work clothes.
     "Hell yes," replied Xarxes.

Brad and Sam looked around for a hiding spot and found another entrance not far away with three officers standing at it.  They were obviously arguing with whoever was outside of the gate.  Sam and Bradley moved closer and could hear parts of the argument.
"Our three bosses just fell! We need to get help!" pleaded one of the men outside of the gate that Brad couldn't see.
"Look, we cannot risk a rescue operation.  We don't have the man-power to do such a thing and those mutants are spreading quickly.  We also have orders to shoot anyone who isn't on this side of the gate within the next five minutes, so get over here now!" threatened the sergeant of the group of officers.  Several minutes passed and Sam tapped on Brad's shoulder.
"We need to do something," whispered Sam.
"This is your last warning!" yelled the sergeant as he pulled out a small sub-machine gun.  Sam aimed his pistol and Brad followed suit.  They both then opened fire on the officers and they fell to the ground in a bloody heap without knowing what hit them.  The two men then quickly moved to the gate and saw two obviously shaken men outside.
"You said that you need a rescue operation?" asked Sam.  The two men remained silent for only a second before the large one finally smiled.
     "Hell yes," he said.

"My name is Ray Xarxes and this is my partner, Gerald Ferilor.  We work for Detective Dominic Kaine and his partner Martin Deallus.  Those two and another detective named Hugo Anderson fell from here after the road crumbled.  We are determined that they are alive, but we need help getting down there.  If you need any weapons, we have some of theirs with us that we managed to save," said the large man.
"My name is Bradley Cunningham and I am a corporal of the Targosian military forces," said the normally quiet man.
"I am Sam DeVoire, a specialist in the Targosian Recon And Scouting division," replied the smaller man.
"What is the military here for?" asked Farilor.
"Well, we deserted because of how things were going.  Too much corruption going on.  No one can get ahead on this world unless they are corrupt...but we can discuss that later.  First, we need to save your friends," said Sam.  Farilor handed Sam a sub-machine gun that had been Dom's only a short time ago, but it had been dropped.  He also handed Cunningham his assault rifle.
"You are probably better with it than I am.  I will stick to shotguns," explained Farilor.  The four men then began slowly heading down what was left of the elevated road, hoping to meet up with Dom, Hugo, and Martin.

Fuck...I'm tired...gotta keep moving...I need to keep these weapons...

John was forcing himself to run, he was within the last quarter-mile and had his flashlight and Firefly out. There were no mutants in the darkened section, which was quite strange, but Miller didn't complain.
Blue apartment...blue apartment...blue apartment...
John aimed his flashlight at the buildings, and finally found a blue apartment building. He ran up the stairs, opened the front door, stepped inside, closed it, and stopped, breathing heavily.
"Holy crap...haven't ran that much since the academy..."
After a short breather, John ran up the stairs to the second level and saw debris on top. He stepped over it and looked around. He didn't have time to search every door. If there were any mutants inside, he'd kill 'em.
"Dom! Dom, you in here!?"
"Yeah! Hugo and Martin too!"
John followed the voice into a nearby room and opened it to see two men laying on a double bed and a third, Dom, sitting in a chair with a pistol aimed at the door.
"Hi John...long time no see," joked Dom
"I got the supplies, I know basic first aid, you know anything better?" asked John.
"Nope...sorry," said Dom
"Alright, I'll handle this," said John as he holstered his Firefly, "You keep that pistol aimed at the door."
"Will do," replied Dom
John began work on Hugo, it would take a little while.

***

John finished his First Aid on the semi-conscious Hugo before starting on the near-unconscious Martin. Once finished with him, John turned to Dom.
"Alright, will do what I can for you now."
"Give me something for the pain. You can't fix my ribs as far as i know," winced Dom.
John looked through the bag and found some mild painkillers. He handed several to Dom.
"It says take two at a time every six hours or you'll be risking addiction," said John as he looked at the bottle.
"I'll take three or four...I could care less about addiction right now. I don't even remember you being my doctor," groaned Dom.
"Dr. Miller doesn't exactly suit me, take however many you like," said John.
"Do you have any water for these?" asked Dom.
"Yeah, grabbed a few bottles on the way out of the store," said John as he grabbed a bottle from the duffel bag and handed it to Dom.
"What happened to those other two detectives you had?" asked John as Dom took the painkillers.
"They were lucky and didn't fall as far as I know," replied Dom.
"You should text or call them, let them know that you're alive and where you are," suggested Miller.
"I tried to reach them before, but for some reason I couldn't. My phone also just died right after my last message to you," said Dom
"My phone still has a charge, you know their numbers off the top of your head?" asked Miller.
"I may be able to guess at least Farilor's number," replied Dom.
"Alright, here, you send it," said John, pulling out his phone and handing it to Dom.
Dom pushed in some buttons and then held it up to his ear.
"Farilor?" asked Dom.
"Dom? Where are you?" replied Farilor on the other end.
"We are alive underneath where the road collapsed. Inside of a blue apartment. John Miller is helping us and is a friend," replied Dom.
"Miller, the fugitive!?" asked Farilor with a bit of confusion in his voice.
"Yeah, he is helping us. We can explain later,"
"Well, I've been shot at by cops, attacked by mutants, and helped by deserter military men today, so I guess being helped by a fugitive vigilante isn't a big deal," said Farilor sarcastically.
"Wait. What the hell has happened!?" asked Dom.
"Well, after you fell, some cops began harassing us. They told us to leave you and run. Xarxes and I refused, and they began threatening us with firearms. They were about to shoot when we were saved by two former Targosian soldiers. They're helping us rescue you guys," explained Farilor.
"Well, we can discuss it later. These pain pills are kicking in and I will think later. Hurry your ass up Farilor!"
"We're on our way, boss," said Farilor before hanging up.
"Got some backup then, eh?" asked John, now sitting against the wall.
"Looks like it...about time I don't have to do everything..." sighed Dom as he began slouching in the chair and closed his eyes.
"You go ahead and rest, I'll keep watch," said John, not in the least bit wanting to sleep, but simply wanting to sit and rest his body.

Clothing:  Long-sleeved white shirt, blue jeans, brown jacket.
Other: Farilor is one of the two men hired by the Kaine Detective Agency.

Farilor, Xarxes, Sam, and Brad moved at a quick pace after they got to the bottom of the elevated road.  A small group of mutants moved their way, but they were fended off by shotguns, assault rifles, and sub-machine guns.  The group continued moving for almost thirty more minutes before they arrived at the underpart of the elevated road.
"Alright, Dom said that they were held up in a blue apartment.  It shouldn't be far if they were wounded," said Farilor.  Sam almost spotted it instantly and poined it out.
"There it is, right over there," he said.  The four men moved quickly to the front door the apartment and opened it up.
"Dom! Hugo! Martin! Is anyone here?" shouted Xarxes as he opened the door.
"Up here!" yelled John as he began waking Dom up.
"What? Huh!?" said Dom as he was startled from being woken up suddenly.  Xarxes and Farilor appeared in the doorway and entered the room.
"Thank god you guys are alive.  I almost began wondering that we wouldn't find you," said Farilor as he stood by Dom's side.
"Alright, we are getting you all out of here," said Sam as he stepped into the room.
"Sam is right, we need to get to the middle levels before it gets any worse.  There are plenty of us to help the wounded.  Sam and I will protect the group since we are the most experienced," said Bradley as he broke his silence once again.
"If you say so," said John as he go up, "John Miller, dangerous psychopath fugitive, at your service."  Sam reached out and shook John's hand.
"Sam DeVoire, military recon and scouting specialist," said Sam with a smile.
"Nice to meet you, what's your name?" asked John as he looked at Cunningham.
"Ex-Corporal Bradley Cunningham of the Targosian military," replied Brad with little emotion in his voice as always.  Xarxes moved over to Hugo and carried him in his arms.  Dom got to his feet and managed to help Xarxes with Hugo.  Farilor got Martin to his feet and worked at helping keep him steady.
"Alright, are we ready to go?" asked Sam.
"Yeah," said John as he grabbed his assault rifle from his harness.  The others replied similarly.
"Let's move out then!" said Sam as he walke out the door and led the way.  Cunningham brought up the rear while Sam scouted ahead as he customarily did after having a real weapon in his hands.  The group moved smoothly and made it to the elevated road with little resistance in terms of mutants.  Then they began the task of moving up the road while avoiding holes and weak spots.  After about another thirty minutes of rough hiking up the elevated road, the group was within sight of the gate.  There were no guards at it still and Farilor wondered if no one had noticed it.  After another ten minutes, the group reached the gate and rested.
"I wonder why no other officers came here? I would have thought we would be looking at a dozen or so police waiting for us.  I guess we are lucky.  We should probably get out of here quickly," said Farilor.
"I'm not exactly on good terms with the police, so I agree," said John.
"Well, I wish I could ask if anyone has a car, but ours can't fly over the broken bridge.  Any ideas?" asked Dom.
"I wonder if the subways are running..." said John.
"Do you think any of the mutants found their way into them or could they have been sealed?" asked Sam.
"I have no clue, the subway tunnels down into the lower levels were sealed a long time ago," said John.
"Then maybe there is a subway around here that we can find and get to a safer location.  I am not from this city so I wouldn't know where to look first," replied Sam.
"There is one just a block away from here I believe," said Farilor as he pointed to a nearby sign.
"That is the best option we have right now.  Besides, Hugo weighs a ton!" added Xarxes.
"Hey! I am not fat!" argued Hugo as he swatted at Xarxes with his good hand.
"Watch it you dimwit or I will drop you onto your bad leg!" replied Xarxes as he fended off Hugo's attacks and began marching in the direction of the subway.  The group travelled the distance in a short time and without any problems.  They then headed down into the subway system.
"Surprised we didn't see many people or any cops," said John.  He then connected that thought with the previous thoughts he had relating to the lack of city video camera footage on the news.
"Somebody could be helping us," John thought.
"Let's go everyone!" said Sam as he led the group forward until they reached the station.  They only had to wait about five minutes before a train arrived.  Miller had his face blocked off by everyone surrounding him.  The group stayed on the train until it was near Dom's house, and then Miller, Sam, and Cunningham got off.  The three then took shelter in Dom's home while the others went off to the hospital.

Other: Fugitive from the police and vigilante. Working with Dominic Kaine to bring a halt to corruption.

John, Brad, and Sam walked through the front door of Dom's house, John having unlocked the door using a key Dom had given him. The house was two stories tall, the bottom floor having a kitchen, a bathroom, a living room with two couches, and a small dining room. A set of wooden stairs led up to the top floor and two bedrooms.
"Looks comfortable," said Sam.
John took off his harness for the first time in hours and walked into the living room. He put the bag full of medical supplies on the floor next to one of the couches, along with his harness. He took off his shoes, sat down, and turned his head around to see that Sam and Brad were sitting down at the dining table, their coats off and hung up on the coat rack. John took off his pistol and SMG holsters, along with his fingerless gloves, and set them on the coffee table.
"Holy crap...that was a hell of a run," said John as he sighed and sat back, "I'm going to get some sleep while I can."
"I'll probably do the same, you tired Brad?" asked Sam.
"Not really," said Brad, "I'll stay up and keep watch."
"Sounds good," said Sam as he walked towards the second couch. John was already laying down on the couch, his eyes closed and his mind dozing off.

Dom groaned as struggled to stay standing in the subway train.  Farilor was busy keeping Martin steady and Hugo was being held by Xarxes.  Most of the seats on the train were full so that none of them could stand, and Dom really really hated that.  Strangely, no one had even bothered asking why some of them were bleeding or wounded.  It may have been the fact that most of the people on the train were traumatized people from the lower levels who made it out, or they were people from the middle levels who were just keeping to themselves.  The ride luckily only took a short time and before Dom knew it, he was being herded off of the subway train and up some stairs.  The five lawmen moved up the stairs that led out of the subway and were soon in front of the hospital.  They went inside and were quickly attended to by the doctors after seeing their wounds.  Dom noticed that there were a lot of injured people who looked like they were from the lower levels, but they apparently were not as important as the middle level people who were injured.  The doctors and nurses were selectively passing them up until there were no more middle level wounded.

Miller woke up around six hours later, restored but sore. Sam was awake, and Brad was now asleep.
"Slept more than usual," grunted Miller as he got up.
"It's fine, you won't be going out much anyway," said Sam.
"I hate being cooped up...it's why I moved to the slums," said John.
"Well, it happens when you're a most wanted fugitive."
John walked to Dom's kitchen and looked through his cabinets and his fridge. He found several things, but he ended up heating a can of beans. After eating them, he went to the bathroom, took a pee, and began looking through Dom's drawers. He found a shaver, and on the other end was a type of reverse shaver, called a grower. The idea behind it was basic, it allowed you to quickly grow a beard or hair. John pressed down the button and ran it over his face, accelerating the growth of his facial hair. He soon had a short beard that made him almost look like a completely different person. It was strange how a beard did that. He then grew his hair a bit until it was around four inches long. Once finished, he examined his new head and smiled. He then walked out of the bathroom and Sam looked at him.
"Sir, have we met?" asked Sam.

"No, you must have me mistaken for somebody else," said John as he walked towards the living room. He turned on the TV on low volume so that Brad could sleep. There were, of course, captions.

-it is wise to avoid the lower levels.
"No shit," said John.
The hospitals are currently understaffed as an ocean of people come from the lower levels after last night's mutant assault. Police Officers and soldiers are currently highest on the priority list, as they are the brave men who fought the mutants last night as the entrances to the mid-levels were sealed. In other news, John Miller was sighted early last night in the lower levels by several citizens. He was seen killing several impoverished civilians, along with mutants, with several different extremely deadly firearms. If seen, call the authorities as soon as possible, do not approach. John Miller is armed, unstable, and extremely dangerous.
John turned off the television.
"Well..." said Sam.
"Be careful, I'm unstable," said John with a quiet chuckle, "I wonder how Dom and the others are doing..."

"They're Detectives, they should be high on the priority list," said Sam.
John picked up his equipment (harness and holsters) and took it upstairs the bedroom that wasn't Dom's. He put it in the closet and put on his breast holster with his Firefly and his KP-15. He then walked downstairs, put his trenchcoat on the coat rack. He put the medical supply bag in the kitchen and sat down.
"Damn I'm bored..."

 Name: Callard Conathen
Weapons:
-Horhet 9mm silenced pistol
-Kervk Co. Combat Knife
Clothing: Practically anything, but prefers to wear finer clothing.
Other:  One of the lesser known powerful crime bosses, he monitors the events that go down in the lower cities.

Callard Conathen took another sip of coffee.  Not that horrible synthetic coffee they serve down in the lower levels, but actual coffee imported from a different city.  Real coffee was a delicacy, one of the things that Callard was partial to.

Callard peered at a surveillance camera's feed of the Vanderbilt bridge collapsing.  The man gave a small smile, and brought the cup up to his lips.  Suddenly, a man barged into the room, causing Callard to splash his coffee all over him.

"I'm here, boss."
"Yeah, I know," Callard grumbled.  "I'll be mad with you ruining my suit later.  I assume everything went well."
"I got the mutants riled up and got them to overrun most of the lower levels," the thug said.  "I also planted some explosives on the bridge and  planted Demause's prints all over it."
"Good," Callard smiled.  "If everything goes just right, he'll be gone in a couple of days.  You planted 'evidence' in a nearby warehouse, right?"
"Don't worry, I made sure the police would find out who did it."
"Good," Callard said, turning back to the monitor.  "Hey, you've been working with some of the cops chasing him, what do you think of John Miller?"
"He a tough mother fucker, that's what.  He has fun killing people.  He could be one of us, if he wasn't all hell bent on justice."
"What do you think it would take to get him to work with us?"
"Uhh," the thug said "maybe drugs or give him amnesia?"
Callard snorted.  "Alright, whatever.  Just keep an eyes on him, Kevin."
"Alright, boss," Kevin said, walking out the door.

Callard opened up a camera feed for an office in the high level.  A message opened up, saying 'ACCESS DENIED'.  He smiled, and then pushed his keyboard close to him.  After a minute of typing, the message 'ACCESS GRANTED' appeared, and it showed a feed of a man talking on his phone.  Callard gave a small laugh, and said, "It'll come soon... soon."

Joe Zerim walked over to Vince's bed and looked him over.
"Still feel fine?" asked Zerim.
"Yeah...now can you untie me?" asked Vince.
A day before, Vince had attempted to escape the clinic while only half-healed. He ended up collapsing, and Zerim had tied him down as a precaution.
"Alright, you're free to go. I took the liberty of taking two hundred from your jumpsuit. The bill normally would have been a lot more, but I'll consider your debt repaid. You've got some new clothes over there," said Joe, pointing at a pair of black slacks, a black sports coat, a red dress shirt, and a pair of black dress shoes. He then untied Vince.
"Thanks Doc, I won't forget this," said Vince as he got up.
"I hope not, I could be killed if this gets out," said Zerim.
"It won't come to that," said Vince, "Don't worry."
Vince got dressed and put his breast holster on. He slid his handgun into it and put his coat on.
"I'll see ya later Doc," said Vince before walking out of the clinic and down the street.

Dom woke up in a hospital bed and was surprised to find Hugo and Martin in beds next to his.  Neither of them looked awake, so Dom didn't say anything.  A doctor was standing at the foot of Hugo's bed, writing some notes on a touchpad.  Farilor and Xarxes were standing at the door and stepped over when they saw Dom open his eyes.
"How are you feelin' boss?" asked Xarxes quietly, not wanting to wake up anyone else.
"Pretty cruddy but not bad," replied Dom.  The doctor walked over to Dom's bed and tapped at his touchpad.
"Well, Mr. Kaine, it seems that your ribs are almost healed by now.  Another day or two of rest and you can be expected to leave," said the doctor.
"One or two days? That is pretty good considering the last time that I was in the hospital, I didn't leave it for weeks from broken bones," replied Dom, "How are Martin and Hugo?"  The doctor looked at his touchpad and tapped it a few times.
"Mr. Deallus and Mr. Anderson are in worse conditions.  Mr. Deallus had severe head trauma that may or may not have done some damage to his brain.  Mr. Anderson had a number of broken bones that are being treated and should be healed in a week," replied the doctor.
"Brain damage? How bad?" asked Dom.
"Hard to say...he hasn't been conscious since we took him off of your hands.  He has been in a coma since yesterday and we are not sure when he will wake up" said the doctor.
"Alright, I guess we were lucky to have survived at all," replied Dom, not expecting a reply to his comment.  The doctor tapped his touchpad several more times and then left the room.  Farilor and Xarxes reacted similarly to the news about Hugo and Martin, but said nothing and soon walked back to the door and sat down in two chairs.

Name: Martin Deallus
Weapons: None
Clothing: Hospital robe
Other: Martin is a spy that was sent by the corrupt government to keep an eye on Dom and to kill him if he knew too much.

Martin felt the pain in his head suddenly disappear as a bright light flashed through his mind.  He found himself sitting in a park suddenly in his normal clothes.  Everything seemed perfectly normal except that he knew he had been injured badly, but didn't know the extent.
"I had been left for dead," he thought to himself.
"The government made no effort to help get you out of there.  Instead, they would have shot you like anyone else.  You were disposable, easily replaced, and unimportant to them if you were doing anything except your mission," said a voice.  Martin looked around and found an exact copy of him sitting on another bench.  The double stood up and walked over towards him.
"You still have time to make things right.  They discarded you, and you had your life saved by the people that you were out to spy on and kill.  So what will you do? Continue to serve the government that betrayed you or make them pay for their crimes?" asked the double.  Martin buried his face in his hands.
"I don't know..." he muttered quietly.
"I said, what are you going to do?" asked the double in a louder voice.
"I don't know!" shouted Martin, still burying his face in his hands.
"What are you going to do!?" screamed his double.
"What I need to do!" screamed Martin as loudly as he could.  Suddenly, Martin shot up in his hospital bed, covered in sweat, and was awake for the first time since yesterday.

"I need to find another safehouse," said John.
"I can see how that could help. Kaine having a wanted man in his house wouldn't be good, what do you have in mind?" asked Sam.
"A good one, I'd prefer to keep it a secret for now," said John as he began putting on his shoes. Afterwards, he looked up in Dom's room and found a long duffel bag. John really had no idea why Dom had it, but he was sure he wouldn't mind if he borrowed it for a while. John also found an old pair of aviator sunglasses and a dark brown fedora in Dom's closet. He put both on and walked downstairs.
"Should be a good disguise for now," said Sam as he examined John's face.
"Thanks," said John as he grabbed his brown trench-coat from the coat rack and put it on. He then walked over to his weapons and put them in the duffel bag, along with his harness, his baseball bat, and his spare ammo. He put on his leg holsters and closed his trench-coat. He then grabbed the duffel bag and walked towards the door.
"Seeya later, tell Brad I left," said John.
"Will do."
John walked outside and down the street. He'd take the subway to the neighborhood he had in mind.

Dom was startled when he saw Martin suddenly bolt upright in his bed.  The young man's eyes were wide open and there were actually tears coming down his face.  Sweat soaked his clothes and dripped down his face.
"Doctor! He is awake!" shouted Dom and within a minute, the doctor raced back into the room with a nurse at his side.
"Nurse, get Doctor Gilard in here ASAP!" ordered the doctor as he moved to Martin's side.  Farilor and Xarxes had moved from the door and were standing near Martin's bed as well.
"Mr. Deallus, I need you to lay down easily.  I don't need you exerting yourself too much so quickly.  Are you alright? Do you feel any pain or discomfort?" asked the doctor as he began checking Martin's vitals.  He looked at his MediPad and within a minute had done a full analysis of Martin.
"Where am I?" asked Martin after a brief pause.
"You are in the Nargess Thirteenth District Hospital.  You were brought here with head injuries by your friends who are in this room right now," replied the doctor.  Martin looked around and saw Farilor and Xarxes, then he turned and saw Hugo laying in his bed asleep.  As Martin turned and saw Dom, he rubbed the sweat from his face with his hands and sighed.
"I can still get myself out of this if I just tell the truth," he thought to himself.  Martin closed his eyes and mumbled that he was tired to the doctor.  The doctor stood up and worked at his MediPad for a few more seconds.
"I will let him rest for a couple hours and then I will be back to check on his condition," said the doctor as he left.  Martin almost immediately sat up in his bed and got Dom's attention.
"Dom, there is something I need to tell you.  I have been spying on you for months and months now.  Spying on you with orders to kill you if you started getting too nosey.  Up until a few days ago, I would have carried out those orders without question, but after being rescued by John Miller and yourself, it seems so pointless.  Also, I was abandoned by my own superiors.  They cut me off from any kind of support and were willing to let the mutants kill us all and consider it a success.  Now, I see that I have been in the wrong.  I have told myself that I will do what I need to do in order to make things right.  I want to help fight the criminals and corrupt people who used me as a pawn," said Martin with some difficulty at certain points.  Dom listened silently, amazed and completely caught off guard by the confession.  Hugo surprisingly opened his eyes and laughed his head off.
"A secret agent? Orders to kill Dom? Was I included? This sounds like something out of a corny movie!" roared Hugo as he laughed until his sides hurt.
"Ray, you have permission to slug him," said Dom and was pleased to see Xarxes hit Hugo over the head, silencing him.  Martin sat silently, as if waiting to be punished, but Dom wobbled over to him and patted him on the shoulder.
"I'm glad you admitted all of those things and have decided to help us out.  To be honest, I had this feeling of uncertainty around you, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it.  This finally can put me at ease about who I can talk around now.  Some of the information you have might be useful though.  We can discuss it after we get out of this hospital, but it might take another day or two," said Dom.  Martin finally relaxed a little bit and tried resting in his bed.  Dom wobbled back to his bed and plopped down onto it.  Within minutes, every person in the room had gone back to sleep except for Xarxes and Farilor, who had not slept in almost a day and were somehow still managing to stay awake.

The old run down hotel was owned by an old friend of John's, Richard White. White had formerly been a Lieutenant of one of the middle bosses, but the boss in question, Gerald Marcus, became paranoid, and ordered a hit on White. White survived paralyzed from the waist down, but his family was murdered. John Miller, in his early days as a vigilante, had met White and assassinated Marcus for him.
"Hello sir, would you like a room," said Marcus, not greeting his old friend as there was another customer waiting in line.
"Yeah," said John.
Miller handed White some money, and received a key in exchange.
"Up the stairs, third door on the right," said White.
"Thanks," said Miller before starting off towards the room.

Other: Dom is a good detective wanting to clean up corruption. He has a cybernetic left eye that helps him in his job.

Several days had passed since Martin's conversation had taken place.  Everyone except Hugo were cleared by the hospital staff to leave, and the group decided that Hugo was fine where he was.  Dom, Farilor, Xarxes, and Martin left the hospital and headed back to his house by riding the train.  When they arrived back at the house, they found that Miller had left a few days before.
"He said he was going to find a safehouse," said Sam after Dom had asked where Miller was.
"Hopefully he will have the decency of contacting us somehow," replied Dom.  Bradley didn't say much as he watched the news on a HoloScreen.  Everyone made themselves comfortable and also mooched off of Dom's food and clothing.
"Why is everyone wearing my clothes dammit?!" said Dom after finding everyone except Bradley wearing something of his.
"Because going back to our homes isn't an option and I haven't changed my clothes in too long because of the hell that has been going on.  I think my shirt was beginning to bond with my skin because of the sweat," replied Xarxes.  Dom's clothes were a little too small for the large man, but Xarxes managed to stretch them out enough for him.  Everyone then gathered together all of the weaponry that they had and began picking their gear.

Dom carried two customized Enforcer pistols with a compact Typhosian Repeater.  Farilor had a compact Terralian Assault Rifle that had a foldable stock which made his easy to conceal as well as a Lugon semi-automatic pistol.  Xarxes carried the powerful Talek combat shotgun with two standard issue Enforcer pistols.  Sam carried only a single customized Enforcer pistol.
"I am used to a sniper rifle, not much else is left that I would like," he explained.  Bradley took four or five enforcer pistols and mumbled something about modifying them later.  Martin pulled a keychain out of his pocket and jingled it until he had everyone's attention.
"Want to see what guns that these keys unlock? I think you will all be pretty surprised," said Martin with a grin.
"We should contact Miller and have him meet us where these weapons are," replied Dom as he pulled out his phone and typed in Miller's number from memory.  He then left a short message voicemail.
"Hey, it's Dom.  Martin has the keys to a safehouse on the northern edge of the city.  It is apparently a secret loadout for several agents that the government was using.  Martin doesn't know the other agents, but he knows that more than one person has used the safehouse.  There are weapons there.  Good weapons.  Be there," said Dom before reading off the address.  Then he turned to the others after hanging up.
"So, how are we getting over there with no car?" asked Dom.
"Looks like we have to buy one or rent a car..." suggested Sam.
"I have a personal account that I can use," replied Martin.
"How many other secret perks did you have while spying on me?" asked Dom with a grin.  Sam and Bradley looked confused but didn't bother asking about spies.
"Sam, if you take this T-Card, go buy a van.  I have some plans for it," said Martin as he handed a card to Sam, who immediately left to buy transportation.  Not much time passed before Sam pulled up in front of the house and everyone piled in.  They then began driving towards the safehouse.

The safehouse room was large enough for John's needs, and White had done several useful modifications to it for John. One of which was soundproof walls, which allowed John to make his own modifications. He set up gun racks, a work bench, a computer, and several drawers and cabinets. Other than a stove, some counters, a bed, and a sink, the main room had been completely empty when he moved in. He had White buy him a bed and the materials. When Dom called, he was sleeping, and he didn't have time to get up and answer it before it rolled to voicemail. He heard Dom's voice.

Be there. The address is 4506 Mason Street, the Richmond Warehouse."

John closed the phone and walked over to one of his cabinets. He opened it up to see several folded up pairs of cargo pants and several more folded up shirts, along with underwear and socks. He got dressed quickly, put on his new black dress shoes, and put on his breast and leg holsters. He slipped his submachine guns in his leg holsters, and slipped his pistols into his breast holsters. He then slid his combat knife, in it's sheath, onto his belt as he put it on with the knife positioned behind behind his back. He pulled his patched up kevlar vest on and slipped his phone into his pocket He then put on his trenchcoat and buttoned it up before putting on a dark brown fedora and a pair of aviator sunglasses. He walked outside and down the stairs, saying goodbye to White as he walked outside and towards the nearest subway station.

The group drove casually through the streets.  Sam had bought a dark grey van with only two windows on the front so that the people in the back could be concealed.  Martin was driving with Dom in the passenger seat while everyone else was in the back.  There were decent seats in the back, but Martin had other plans.  They drove for almost an hour before they were finally leaving the suburbs of the city.  A number of warehouse complexes were scattered around the area, but Martin passed by all of them until he turned onto Mason Street.  Then he saw his objective and pulled into a dark parking lot.
"Alright, there is no kind of surveillance at this location since this place doesn't exist," said Martin as he drove through a narrow door before shutting off the engine.  He got out of the van and tapped several buttons.  The doors behind the van closed and dim lights appeared.  Everyone got out of the van and weren't impressed by the surroundings.  It looked like the place had not been used in years.  Most of the lights didn't work and dust coated everything.
"Follow me," said Dom as he pulled out his pistol and tapped on a wall.  The wall opened up and revealed a set of stairs that led underground.
"This reminds me of something out of a movie," whispered Xarxes.  They entered a narrow corridor and found about four small rooms loaded with weapons ranging from military grade sub-machine guns to assault rifles.  There were even some explosives which were probably used to sabotage buildings.
"Take as much as you need," said Martin as he picked up a sniper rifle and tossed it to Sam.  The ex-military recon specialist grinned as he felt a familiar weapon in his hands.
"Just what I have been itching for," said Sam as he began dismantling the weapon and cleaning every part.
"I found the ammunition for all of the weapons," said Farilor as he pulled a tarp covering off of several crates.  Piles of ammunition in marked containers made everyone grin.
"I'm going upstairs to wait for Miller, otherwise he won't find us without possibly looking suspicious," said Martin as he holstered his pistol and headed out of the secret supply depot.  He hid the doorway to the stairs just in case and then waited in a spot where he could see the entire front of the building.

Miller stepped off the subway train and walked up the stairs and out of the station. Mason street was still several blocks away, so he walked the rest of the way. Upon spotting the warehouse, he approached with caution, ready to draw his KP-15 at a moment's notice. Martin saw a person approaching and waited. He saw that the person was being overly cautious for a person just wandering by, so he assumed that it was Miller. After waiting another minute, he did realize that it was Miller. Martin waved so that Miller would see him and waited for a reaction. Miller saw a man wave at him, and recognized him as Martin. He didn't put down his guard, but he walked over to him.

"Looks like you found my directions well enough. Follow me if you want some toys to play with," said Martin as he headed for the secret wall. He looked around before tapping on the wall and it revealed the stairs. Martin then led Miller down the steps to meet up with the others.
"Hey everybody," said John as he walked down the stairs with Martin, "Nice rifle, Sam."
"It will be doing some miracles in the near future I hope," replied Sam. Everyone else either nodded or said a quick greeting before going back to gathering what they wanted.
"You have some nice toys here Martin, would you mind telling me who these belong to?" asked John as he examined the weaponry.
"Technically they don't exist since they were 'supposedly' destroyed due to some act that the president passed a couple years ago, but I guess they belong to someone in the government if not the president," replied Martin.
"Well, I'm not going to argue with stealing from the President...but how the hell did you learn about this place?" asked John.
"Well, I used to be a spy for the government. My superior would call me on a secure line and give me a mission. This warehouse was where I would normally pick up my equipment for a mission. Unfortunately, that superior left me to die so he is going to have some of his toys used against him," replied Martin.

Unfortunately, that superior left me to die so he is going to have some of his toys used against him," replied Martin.
"Well...Dom trusts you, and I trust Dom, so I won't shoot you. You'll have to earn my trust though," said John, "And giving away military grade weapons is a good start."
"Especially when we will be causing all sorts of hell with these," grinned Martin.
"I've been causing hell for the last couple weeks," said John with a chuckle before seeing a Herol Armory GL-55, "Holy crap, is that a grenade launcher?"
"Yeah, just be careful with it. That thing doesn't tell friends from enemies," replied Martin as he looked at a carbine rifle.
"What's so special about those pistols?" asked Farilor as he peeked over Miller's shoulder.
"Well, I read in a magazine that these are some of the rarest pistols in the world, only fifty were ever created by Cidel Arms. That company was all about quality, not quantity. Never thought I'd see one, let alone two!" said Miller with excitement.
"That is the kind of authority that had me employed. It may seem cool, but it is actually pretty scary when you look at how much access and power they have and what they could do with it," said Martin.
"That won't matter much when I put a bullet in their head with one of these," said Miller as he replaced his Firefly and his KP-15 with the two Dragonfire pistols.
"It all depends on if we can find that person to put the bullet in," replied Martin.

"We'll find him, it's just a matter of how long it takes," said Miller as he grabbed several .45 clips to replace the 9mm clips he used to carry for his old pistols.
"And we still don't know what those scientists are being forced to work on," said Dom.
"As I said, probably cybernetics or a weapon based on their specialties, and I doubt they're cybernetics," said John.
"They have all the weapons they need. What good would yet another weapon do?" asked Farilor.
"Not just a physical one, they could be after mind control. Maybe keep the population in their grip, prevent any uprisings," said John.

"We will figure this all out soon enough. Martin, you said you had some plans for that van. Care to share with us?" said Dom. Martin sat down and began to explain.
"Alright, I plan on basically emptying out the back of that van and turning it into a mobile surveillance station," he said.

"And to get our weapons out of here I hope, you could store them at my place if you want. The police finding 'em at Dom's house wouldn't end well for him," suggested John.

"I'm sure I could explain a few dozen heavy weapons as being part of the job," joked Dom to the amusement of no one it seemed.

"The van is large enough to hold two people in the front, two people in the middle, and most likely two people in the back with the equipment. We can use it to monitor police communications and also see if we can have Dom hack into the city security system and maybe disable cameras that we might encounter while hunting for clues. We may need someone else with hacking abilities. Anyone here have any good experience?" asked Martin.

"Well...I'm good at shooting computers, that count?" asked John with sarcasm.

"Not quite..." replied Martin.

"Anyone know what Hugo is good at? I thought he was only good at making bad jokes and drinking coffee, but he might have some aces up his sleeve," added Farilor.

"He might have some skill in that area for all I know, I want to continue searching this place though," said John, "There might be some other toys that I missed."

"Go right ahead. Not sure what else you may find," said Martin.

John continued searching, and found a box of explosive shells for his shotgun, along with a Kurato Erino-9 Submachine-gun, several kevlar combat suits complete with helmets, a box of frag grenades, a box of WP grenades, and some plastic explosives.

"I could arm a damn army with the shit in here," said Miller as he completed his stack with plenty of ammunition for the weapons he had acquired.

"Keep in mind that we can't be running around with combat suits or they would know about this place immediately and probably track us," said Martin.

"I'll wear loose clothes over these of course," said Miller.

"Sounds like a plan then," said Dom as he looked at what Miller had been uncovering.

The next fifteen minutes were spend loading up the van with the various weapons and other goodies that had been found in the armory.

"Alright, let's get out of here. Where to?" asked Dom as he got into the van.
"We should drop this shit off," said John, "I don't want to imagine the look on a cop's face if he saw this shit in here."
"Drop it off where?" asked Xarxes.
"My safehouse isn't known to anybody but a man I'd trust with my life, you know a better place?" asked Miller.
"Not really, but it should be a place where we can all get to without drawing attention to it," replied Xarxes.
"He basically picked that building for that purpose. It's got a private garage and a gated alleyway around the back," said Miller.
"Then let's store the weapons there," said Martin.

The drive over to John's safehouse was quiet except for when John told Martin when the turn was going to happen. On the way, John called White and told him what the van looked like so that he wouldn't shoot somebody for opening the gate. They eventually pulled onto the small driveway and John opened the gate and waved the van through.

"Nice place..." said Dom

Martin pulled the van through the alleyway and into the garage that White had opened a few minutes before. When the van was in, he pressed a button and the garage closed.

"John, you son-of-a-bitch! What the hell do you have in there?" asked White with a grin as he rolled his wheelchair down the ramp.

"A few boxes of beer, some chips, oh...and some illegal military grade firearms," said John as he jumped out the back.
"Hmph...and you were getting me excited with the beer and chips too, bastard," said White as he rolled his wheelchair around and saw the weapons and people inside, "Welcome to the White Hotel, friends!"
"Hey, how's it goin?" said Xarxes.
"Well, you know, family's dead, got no legs, have a most-wanted-criminal as my best friend, it's going well, you?" asked White.
"Well, was hired by a person who became a vigilante and soon allied with the most-wanted criminal, and one of my bosses was an undercover spy plotting to kill my other boss...pretty good," replied Xarxes.
"Good to hear, good to hear. You can jump out of the van at any time, by the way, I don't charge a fee for stepping onto my concrete," said White.
"Alright then," said Farilor as he and Xarxes hopped out of the van. Martin and Dom followed.
"Well, Johnny and I have been planning on him staying here for a year or two now, and I set up a future armory for him. It's right in there," said White as he pointed at the wall, which was made out of wood boards.
"I guess we should start unloading then," said Dom as he gathered an armful of weapons and began putting the weapons in the makeshift armory.
The wooden board door, which was disguised as part of the wall, opened up from a lever nearby disguised as a pipe-wrench in one of the boxes underneath White's workbench. After around ten minutes of unloading, the weapons were mounted on racks and stacked on shelves within the armory. The boxes of ammo were stacked up against one of the walls.

"Can Brad and I stay here? We are some ex-military guys who probably shouldn't be wandering around the city much anymore," asked Sam.
"Depends, what branch?" asked White with a serious expression.
"I was in the I was in the Recon and Scouting division. Brad was a corporal in their ranger division," replied Sam.
"Get out of my hotel...now," said White, feigning anger before letting out a sudden laugh, "Nah, I really don't care, people who do annoy the crap out of me. Who the hell'd be proud to be in this nation's military?"
"Well, obviously not us since we abandoned our posts," laughed Sam.
"Good for you guys! Well, your rooms won't be soundproof, but you can have rooms 208 and 210, or if you guys like sleeping in the same bed, just take 210," said White with a short chuckle.
"Separate please," said Brad, breaking his silence again.
"Don't mind Brad, he isn't the most cheerful or talkative guy," said Sam.
"I can tell, you should get him laid," said White as John approached from the armory.
"Well, everthing is mounted and organized, you guys getting to know eachother?" asked John.
"Um...sure," joked Farilor.
"White, you haven't been giving these guys a tough time, have you?" asked John with a grin.
"Nope, you know me, always Mr. Serious, just like this guy here," said White, pointing at Brad before rolling out of the garage in his wheelchair.

Dom and Martin looked over everything to make sure that nothing had been missed and then they climbed into the van.
"Everyone inside who isn't staying here," said Dom. Xarxes and Farilor waved bye to everyone as they climbed into the van.
John opened the garage in waved goodbye as the van backed out of the garage and drove out of the alley, he would close the gate in a little bit. He turned to Sam and Brad.
"I'll show you guys your rooms, they're next to mine on the second floor and White isn't so good with stairs," said John.
"Screw you, Johnny!" yelled White as he rolled down the ramp and threw Brad and Sam their keys.
"I think they are both a little crazy, don't you think?" whispered Sam to Brad, who said nothing in reply.
"Well, you guys enjoy yourself, I'm off to feed my dog and watch some of this propaganda-infested TV," said White as he rolled out of the garage, "Nice meet you guys!"
"Nice to meet you too sir," replied Sam
"Follow me," said John as he walked out of the garage and turned left towards the lobby.
Sam and Brad followed without a word.
John led the two men to their rooms and pointed to his room as well, he didn't say a word before walking into his bedroom.

The van with Dom, Martin, Ray, and Gerald got back to Dom's house after driving around the city for an hour to shake off any person that may have been following them.  The van was pulled into a garage to avoid people watching them just so that no weapons were seen.
"You have any tools I can use?" asked Martin as soon as the group got out of the van.
"Yeah, I have some around here somewhere," replied Dom as he turned on a light and revealed the mess inside his garage.
"Yeah, somewhere..." joked Ray Xarxes as he say the disaster.
"Well, Ray and Gerald can unload the weapons from the back of the van.  I want to do a little bit of modifying on the van so that we can get started.  Dom, I will need you to help me since you are more technologically skilled," said Martin as he opened the up the back of the van.  Then the two men began searching through the garage for tools that would be of use.  Meanwhile, Xarxes and Farilor cleaned out the van and hid the weapons in the garage.
"Alright, we have the tools, but now we need the equipment," said Martin as he wiped some sweat off of his brow.
"I think I have some stuff that you can use.  I borrow a bit of technology here and there to help me get the job done," said Dom as he lifted up a tarp.  Underneath the tarp was a pile of small gadgets and items, along with scattered pieces of technology that was slightly outdated.
"What are those things?" asked Martin when he saw the unknown gadgets.
"Just a few toys I have used to break into house security systems without being detected.  Another few of them are tracking devices that I have used to chase down criminals running from me.  They work just like bullets and can be fired from a gun.  Then there are some old pieces of junk that I scrapped from HoloScreens and computers," explained Dom.
"Interesting...I think I could put some equipment together, but I will need some real stuff from another location.  We may have to do a little illegal stuff, but it shouldn't be too difficult," said Martin casually.
"What kind of illegal stuff are we talking about?" asked Xarxes.
"Oh, we will probably just have to break into some lab or tech center and steal some stuff," replied Martin casually again.
"Do you have any idea what kind of security they have at those places?" groaned Farilor.
"Well, it all depends upon the facility.  Some may have state-of-the-art technology and defense systems while others may just have a few guards armed to the teeth," said Martin.
"Hell, it could be worse I guess," sighed Dom as he helped Martin get to work on the van.

Sam and Brad checked out their rooms and then Sam met with Brad in his room.
"Not bad I guess compared to the military barracks we were stuck in," said Sam.
"Just remember what our mission is and don't deviate from it.  If we don't succeed, there could be major problems," replied Brad in his quiet voice.
"I haven't forgotten.  The objectives of these vigilantes and ours could be beneficial to each other as long as we stick with them," whispered Sam in reply.
"We just have to be careful of the new weapon prototypes that are being deployed soon.  Luckily I grabbed a few toys to handle them..." said Brad before he let Sam go back to his room and they went to sleep.

Dom woke up early in the morning after having another bad dream.
"F*cking mutants..." he grumbled as he wiped the sweat off of his face and stumbled into the bathroom.  He looked in the mirror and then cringed at what he saw.  Dom looked away, took a quick shower, and then shaved off the last weeks of beard growth that had made him look like some kind of hobo.  He also shortened his hair a bit since he had been way too busy to take care of himself hygenically at all due to the recent events.  Then Dom carefully removed his cybernetic eye and walked over to his home computer.  He plugged a cable into his eye and began going through all of the information it had collected in the past few days since he last had it refreshed.  Dom then kept anything that he felt was remotely useful and saved the rest to the computer and deleted the junk off of his eye's memory.  Then he did a diagnostic on his eye's scanning, zooming, targeting, and identification abilities before pushing it back into the socket.  Dom winced after feeling the eye pop back in.
"Will never get used to that..." he mumbled to himself before realizing that Martin was standing at the door.
"Nice toy you have there.  I wish I could have one," said Martin.
"Alright, let me stab your eye horribly with a knife and twist the blade until your eye is ruined.  Then you can pay more money than you can imagine to have a painful surgery and then you have a cybernetic eye!" said Dom with enough sarcasm to kill a fully grown man.  Martin's smile slowly disappeared and then he ended up laughing lightly before walking off to find some food.  Xarxes walked past the door scratching his head and yawning.
"What the f*ck is his problem? He looked like he saw a ghost," said Xarxes.
"I was just explaining to him the fun procedure of getting a cybernetic eye," replied Dom.
"It can't be that bad..." Xarxes started to say until Dom glared at him and the large man slowly backed away.
"I take it back! I take it back! Don't kill me!" laughed Xarxes as he went to go scavenge some food of his own.  Farilor glanced in at Dom but followed the other two.
"I need to find a place for all of these weirdos..." muttered Dom as he got dressed and brushed his teeth until they were sparkling white.  He then walked into his kitchen to find everyone in there cooking eggs.
"So what is on the agenda for today?" asked Dom.
"Break into super secure technological lab, kill bad guys, steal technology, get the girl as usual," said Xarxes in a joking manner.
"Oh, right...the technology raid.  Should we call Miller, Sam, and Brad for this?" asked Dom.
"We might as well be prepared for the worst case scenario," replied Martin.
"Alright, let me call them up," said Dom as he pulled out his phone and typed in the number he had memorized.
"Miller, it is Dom.  Martin says that he needs some good technology in order to get our mobile van thingy up and running.  The lab that we are most likely hitting is the Fiorucci Technology Laboratories Corporation which is on the western edge of the middle levels.  1323 Henson St. W is the address.  Arm yourself to keep quiet, but also be prepared if things go badly," said Dom before he hung up.
"Shouldn't you have waited to see if he had any questions?" asked Farilor.
"Um...I guess I should have...oops," said Dom as he shrugged his shoulders.
"To the Resistance Mobile!" said Xarxes as he ran to the garage.  Everyone sat at the table for almost five minutes without saying a word.
What...the...f*ck...was...that?" said Farilor finally.  Dom shook his head and Martin finished eating the eggs that Dom refused to eat before they all went to the van and headed out.

John hadn't slept much the previous night, and had spent the last couple hours cleaning his new Dragonfire pistols and making silencers for them and his new submachine gun. They didn't require any upgrades, they were as good as they were going to get. As he screwed a recently made silencer onto his Dragonfire pistol, his phone rang. He put the pistol and the silencer down and grabbed the cell phone from one of his shelves. John didn't have a chance to say anything.
Arm yourself to keep quiet, but also be prepared if things go badly."
The phone clicked, Dom had pressed the "End" button almost instantly.
"That guy doesn't know how to have a phone conversation..."
John walked outside his bedroom, still in his sweat pants and his T-shirt, and walked over to Sam's room first. He knocked on the door.
"Huh? Wha?" asked Sam's voice, followed by the cock of a pistol, "Who is it?"
"The President," joked John.
Sam opened the door with one hand, his pistol was pressed to the door with the other, aimed at John.
"Oh, hello, thought it was you."
"Dom has a job, he needs our help, get dressed, take your guns." whispered John.
"Alright."
"Go down to the lobby when you're ready," whispered John before walking towards Brad's room. He knocked twice, the door opened seconds later with Brad holding a gun to the door as well.
"Relax..." said John before whispering, "Dom's got a job. Meet me in the lobby when you're ready."
Brad nodded and shut the door, and John walked back to his room to get ready.

***

John was dressed in his usual outfit with his submachine guns in his leg holsters, he slid his Dragonfires into his breast holsters and made sure to bring two silencers and four clips for each, all of which were in his brown leather trenchcoat's slots that he had made himself. He wore a kevlar combat suit under his clothes, but didn't bring one of the helmets for obvious reasons. When ready, he walked down to the lobby, and saw Sam talking with Richard with Brad standing nearby, silent as usual. Richard was telling some story that John had heard three times already.
"Ready?"
"Oh, yeah," said Sam.
Brad said nothing.
"Alright, let's go, be back later, White," said John before walking out the door with the other two following him. They'd take a subway, as John always did.

05:32:27 Jan 10th 10 - Mr. Arthur Dent:

So... many... words...

Only like 1/3 of the way through, but so far I really like it, very entertaining.

05:35:53 Jan 10th 10 - Emperor Gaius Septimus Cidellus:

I'm glad you like it. =D

05:37:00 Jan 10th 10 - King Charley Deallus V:

Yeah, it would have made coming up with this storyline another waste of my life :D Glad I am good with storylines ;D

05:43:29 Jan 10th 10 - Emperor Gaius Septimus Cidellus:

It almost was until I supported you in your idea to stick this on VU and continue it! ;D

05:45:28 Jan 10th 10 - Mr. Arthur Dent:

What's the longest RP you guys have ever done?

05:53:56 Jan 10th 10 - Emperor Gaius Septimus Cidellus:

Together? We've never finished one together. XD

06:01:46 Jan 10th 10 - Mr. Arthur Dent:

hehe, why's that?  Both of you want to keep it going or both don't want the other to finish?  or are you guys just boring? :/

09:05:18 Jan 10th 10 - King Charley Deallus V:

The longest RP...I guess you could say Prominence was the longest and I forget how long it lasted...months and months...pages and pages...but it was more like a game than an actual RP.
As for an actual writing RP, I think this one may be the longest that the two of us have done.  There is also the amount of quality writing we have done.  Sure, we could have a 20 page RP(the place maybe?) going and it could be with the grammar of some people on this forum*coughbelmontcough* and no one would ever read it because it looks like sh*t :)

The problem I see with writing is keeping motivated.  Sure, you can have the greatest story idea ever, but after working at it for days, weeks, months, and sometimes even years(guilty), you sometimes become so bored with how long it takes to write down your ideas that you give up.  If I could write as fast as I could come up with ideas, I would have a 1000+ page book right now...or a series.

I guess I could use my Elras and Alras books as examples.  I probably finished 250 pages of Elras before I suddenly just stopped.  Alras was supposed to be 10x better with more detail, a better storyline, etc, but I struggle horribly to get myself to write it.

Septim's christmas gift to me this year was to help me keep motivated and finish this 2-man RP :p  We started this months ago and stopped for a little bit and then we decided to revive it.
We did a previous 2-man RP on another website that I shall despise forever because of a certain fanatically crazy girl who texts me every once and awhile.  We started out fast in our little 2-man RP and then it died immediately XD

I first started writing only when I was 18...years later, I feel that I have improved 500%.  Septim...I dunno about him, he keeps lying about his age to f*ck with my head :P  I don't know if he is smart for his age or an r-tard :)

22:22:41 Jan 10th 10 - Sir Lanoc:

The Place is mostly copied stats, sort of like quite a lot of this(not meaning this is in anyway like The Place, it is much better, but the stats I mean), which I just skip. Prominence too. It's strange, the long threads in the RP forum, very few of which are RPs as such, are mostly just loads of stats. People seem to like repeatedly copying stuff and changing it a little.

Anyhow, good story, read all of it so far.

02:57:48 Jan 11th 10 - King Charley Deallus V:

This doesn't really have stats.  It is just updating the Character Sheet(CS) after every post so that people know of any changes and it also helps the writer as well.

07:37:28 Jan 11th 10 - Emperor Gaius Septimus Cidellus:

Try keeping the amount of gold your character had, the education your character had, the accomplishments and titles your character had, the land holdings your character had, the job and pay-rate your character had, your character's age, your character's family members, your character's items, and your character's army figures all in your head and expect everybody else to do the same to prove you're not cheating...I dare you. =P

07:38:32 Jan 11th 10 - King Charley Deallus V:

I apparently cheated while still writing them down because I was horrible at math :P:P

03:31:01 Jan 12th 10 - Sir Arvious X:

Hey, you lie, this used to be a 3 man RP... until I ran out of ideas... I only did this because you pestered me so much. :-P

04:27:51 Jan 12th 10 - King Charley Deallus V:

90% of the RP was 2 man RP.  1% was 4 man(Demonsul*cough*) and 9% was 3 man :p

I got the entire storyline(somewhat) from watching a music video.  It had nothing to do with my storyline, but it just gave me the idea of a dystopian society and sh*t goin down :o

The group moved through the city without any problems.  They made good time and arrived at the Fiorucci Technology Laboratories Corporation just before the lunch break.
"Alright, we need to get inside of the complex," said Martin.
"Well, easier said than done...it is surrounded by electrical wire, a number of armed guards, and security cameras," said Xarxes as he looked out the window with some electro binoculars.
"Then we need to check around back.  The security may be less dense there," said Dom as he began driving the van past the complex casually.  Then he turned onto a side street and began checking the sides and rear of the facility.
"There is a hole in the grid!" said Dom as his eye scanned the camera defenses of the facility.
"Where?" asked Farilor as he pressed his nose against the window to see better.
"The camera grid has a small hole in the rear.  We can cut through the fence and time our movements," said Dom as he pulled the van into a small alley.  He then texted Miller their location and crept closer to the fence, which bordered a number of buildings which were about 15 feet from it.  Then the group waited and watched the movements of the guards in secret.

John, Brad, and Sam weren't far from the facility when John received the text. They continued walking down the street, spotted the van, and went down the a crouch. They crouch-ran to the van, and looked around for Dom and the others. Miller thought about drawing his pistol, but it was far too shiny, and would attract unwanted attention. He made a note to take care of that later as he spotted Dom and went down to a crawl. John, Brad, and Sam crawled over to Dom, who had seen them long before they had seen him and the others. No words were exchanged.
