[[OOC:ME WANT DRAWBRIDGEEEE!!!]]

04:39:36 Jan 9th 09 - Mr. Blackdagger:

Electric,(I don't see why you want a Drawbridge so badly, since you don't have a moat or anything......but sure you can have one for any ONE TOWN. This is thanks for you giving me the idea of city deffenses upgrades)--You can post twice the next day.
Hazel, (You can post twice the next day)
Killer, (this is a bonus for being the only one to post today =P The Nimrod should go under "Beasts" or "Secret Weapons" choose which ever you like.) Your men wander around looking for vegetables not having a care in the world until they notice that the Nimrod is acting strangely. The Nimrod walks to a certain spot and begins to dig; eventually it finds a chest there. Your men open the chest without hesitating. As soon as they open the chest white smoky like balls fly out to your villages where your people become extra happy.
Bonus: Your peasents are so happy they decided to give you 1500g (500 for ea town).

http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/1891/mapqf2.png

Key
Big triangle things = Mountains(and volcano, guess which one)
Green lines stuck together = Forests
Big dark blue blob = The sea
Light blue lines = Rivers(and blotches are lakes)
Yellow area = Desert

City Sizes
Small circle = Village(300 - 1,000 people)
Small square = Towns(1,000 - 10,000 people)
Big circle = Cities(10,000 - 100,000 people)
Big square = Capital(1,000,000 - 1,500,000 people)
Cyancircles/squares = Port villages/towns/cities

How to play:
You start out with one town and 100 Troops (you can pick to have X amount of archers and X amount of Infantry to equal 100 troops). After that you build up your army by sending it out to attack merchants. Once you think you have a strong enough force to take on a village then attack the village. I will tell you how many people are in the village, how many troops and what they are armed with, and how good the leader is. You then make a battle plan and the next day I will say what happened.

Fighting
To fight, you just set up your troops' positions. This can be done by picture, using letters for your soldiers, or most simply, you can just say how the troops are positioned. E.g. Archers in front, firing at the enemy once they come into range, then falling back, cavalry charge, then footsoldiers charge, or something like that.
Next(this is optional, troops' positioning is more important, and numbers still more important still, but this can sway the battle) you describe/RP the fight(you cannot say who wins though). That's it. Simple?

When Taking Over a Town
When you take over a town please update the map, and show where you took the town. You may now "name" each town by #'s and the alphabet.
This is an example
Name them whatever # or Alphabet, or combination that you want

Tactics
Each of the towns and armies have a leader or a General and their tactics are ranked out of 5 starts. 1 being they leave the gates open and tell their men to moon you, and 5 being they set an ambush for you in town to try and use the limited space against your numbers. So 1 being stupid, and 5 being excellent, but not too excellent.

NOTE: Tell me if you're attacking a Village, City, Town, or the Capital

Gold
Now, obtaining that all-precious metal, gold. It's the currency, you need it to train troops and buy weapons and stuff for your troops(don't panic just yet, read on)...
The easiest way is to attack travelling merchants(set camp a bit from a village/town/city, and just wait). This provide between 100 and 1,000 gold if successful. Not a lot(you'll get an idea of how much gold is worth on reading the troops section), but easy to get with minimal losses. However, small armies of roughly between a hundred and five hundred men patrol the world(Crotyl), and they might attack you. Even bigger armies sometimes wander around, but this is with some objective, maybe to take back a city or some such thing.
The second way is to take over a village/town/city. You get ten times the gold of the number of people that was in the village etc. So, 1,000 men(including peasants) = 10,000 gold.
Lastly, each village/town/city gives you an income.
Village = 150 gold a day
Town = 1,500 gold a day
City = 15,000 gold a day
Capital = 100,000 gold a day(you'll probably have won if you get around to taking the capital).

Troops
Ok, it's actually pretty simple. There are six types of troops. They are(and their costs are beside them):

Infantry - Soldiers carrying all sorts of mélée weaponry. 5 gold.
Archers - Soldiers trained in all sorts of ranged weaponry. 20 gold.
Cavalry - Soldiers that can ride on any sort of animal, using mélée weapons. 50 gold.
Ranged cavalry - Soldiers that can ride on any sort of animal, using ranged weapons. 100 gold.
Healers - Soldiers that can heal people by magic or medicine(they're not miracle workers though, but they will save quite a few troops after a big battle with heavy losses). 50 gold.
Mages(Magi if you so prefer...) - Soldiers that attack from afar with magic, but they aren't that good, they've projectiles like arrows, basically, and can change the landscape a bit(not much though). 200 gold.

# of troops you can train a day
Village - 25
Town - 150
City - 1,000
Capital- 1,500

CITY DEFENSES
If you choose to do so you can upgrade your city's Defenses so it would be harder to take your city.
Village's cost is below
Town's cost is 2x of any Village upgrade cost
City's cost is 3x of any Village upgrade cost
Capital's cost is 5x of any Village upgrade cost
Shallow Moat (2 ft): 1,000g
--To fill with water an extra 500g
Medium Depth Moat (4 ft) : 2,500g
--To fill with water an extra 1,000g
Deep Moat (5 ft): 5,000g
--To fill with water an extra 1,500g
Very Deep Moat (10 ft): 10,000g
--To fill with water an extra 2,000g
Drawbridge: 5,000g
Copper Gate: 1,000g
--Increases just like weapons....Mithril Gate costs 5k
Boiling Water (dumped on troops): 1,000g for each gate (have to refill after use)
Boiling Oil (dumped on troops): 2,500g for each gate (have to refill after use)
Spikes Sticking Out (slows down enemy attackers/kills horses who run into them) : 750g

Also, various weapons, steeds and armours cost gold. To prevent it getting too complicated, you have to buy armours and weapons in certain amounts, and your troops(each type) cannot have more than two different types of armour/weapons in a battle. All your troops begin with weapons picked out of farms and such(spades, scythes and such) and no armour.

The prices for weapons and armour:
Every soldier other than healers and mages perform much better with weapons, the stronger the better. The same applies for armour, as armour interferes with magic, for some weird reason. Remember, you can only have two types of weapon(bronze pikes, iron shortswords etc.) for each type of troop(infantry, cavalry etc.). Don't worry too much about this, some weapons just are more useful against infantry, some against cavalry etc.

You just say what weapons you have for all you troops, they don't have to follow certain troops around. They can appear from one end of the map to the other if you so wish, but they can't be used by two people in a one battle(or two battles...) You cannot have more than two types of weapon per troop(this will make it much simpler, honestly).

Weapons are bought in hundreds(enough for a hundred troops).

Firstly the weapon materials you can have(multiply base cost x number Copper = price, steel = 4x the price and so on) First is for any weapons like swords, axes(and armours) etc. that don't fall under second category, second is like bows and stuff(these will be mentioned, along with exceptions like slings which have only one type)

Copper / Rowan

Bronze / Birch

Iron / Willow

Steel / Oak

Mithril / Yew

First off, before I start on the weapons, the shields and armours(1st category).

Shields
Infantry:
Bucklers - 20 gold
Big Shields- 100 gold
Cavalry :
Kite shields - 1000 gold

Armour: All troops(except mages and healers) - Chainmail - 100 gold
- Plate mail - 150 gold

Now, the weapons...
First Category weapons:

Infantry:
Dirks - 20 gold
Axes - 20 gold
Short swords - 30 gold
Pikes - 40 gold
War Hammers - 40 gold
Mace - 40 gold
Halberd - 50 gold
Infantry/Cavalry:
Morning star - 50 gold
Long sword - 50 gold
Great sword - 50 gold
Pole-axe - 50 gold
Cavalry Only:
Lance - 50 gold
Horseman's pick - 50 gold
Archers: Sling - 10 gold
Staff sling - 30 gold
Long-bow - 50 gold
Ar./Ra. Cavalry :
Short bow - 30 gold
Bolas(3 weights) - 30 gold
Javelin - 30 gold
Throwing axe - 30 gold
Cross-bow - 50 gold
The second category weapons:

Pike - 2nd cat.(category, yew, willow etc.)
Javelin - 2nd cat.
Pole-axe - 2nd. cat.
Staff sling - 2nd cat.
Long-bow - 2nd cat.
Short bow - 2nd cat.
Bolas(3 weights) - No cat.
Sling - No cat.

Races
Ok, there are six races. Orcs, Trolls, Elves, Halflings, Dwarfs and Humans. They aren't much different from each other, but they each have bonuses. You can only hire troops of the same race, but they're all the same anyway, it's just that you won't get the bonuses of other races.
Humans - Better cavalry
Orcs - Better infantry.
Elves - Better cavalry archers.
Dwarfs - Better mages
Halflings - Better healers.
Trolls - Better archers.

11:42:46 Jan 9th 09 - Lady Hazel:

After 2 hours of waiting, a single scout returned to Gilths temporary camp.
"Ghost Riders, chief!", he muttered.
"What?" Gilth asked...
"Gho..Ghost Riders! Horses, 100 of them carrying transparent knights on their back. My grandorc told me about these men, they are rumoured to be almost invincible. But in fact they all wear magical armour and weapons, lances and longswords. Stronger then the mithril we have. I did notice that it wasn't platemail though."

Gilth assumed that the other scouts wouldn't return. "Did they see you?" He asked.
"I think they did chief. When I was returning, I heard the sounds of battle, so I assume they were killing the others."
Gilth would have to come up with a plan soon. Fighting men in these armours wouldn't be easy, especially not if they were almost invisible.

The plan.
Using my knowledge of the area, I look for a good spot, preferably some sort of bottle neck close to where I am now. It can't be to narrow to avoid the things that happened in the village when I couldn't even draw my weapons.
50 infantry with pole-arms on a row, pole-arms secured in the ground.
2 rows of infantry with morning stars behind them, 3 rows of archers behind them and the healers on the last row. Cavalry on the flanks.
http://img211.imageshack.us/img211/350/strategiert9.png

Have them charge at my men. They can't all come at once because 100 men don't fit next to eachother, and hopefully they run into the polearms, killing the horses. Archers should aim for the horses when the enemy is at a distance, once they get a better view (closer enemy) and actually see them, aim for the legs, cripling them. Infantry with morning stars bashes at the heads of fallen enemies, try to fight in groups of 3-4 men vs 1 enemy. When the enemy charge stops, my cavalry charges at the enemy, trying to trample them. Enemies still sitting on a horse will be targeted, trying to kill the horse first.
only happens if there is a suitable location. No such location, I withdraw to my village.

He tore down his wooden gates and replaced them with 1 Steel one, closing in the gap left by the other gate. He sent an army of 250 Infantry to Redest Fort, 36 of which are armed with Mithril axes, Iron platemail, and Iron bucklers, and 214 which are armed with Iron Pole Axes.

21:43:56 Jan 9th 09 - Prince Valan Septim:

[[OOC: Deallus can't comprehend humor, Killer, jeeze, where have you been?]]

04:02:20 Jan 10th 09 - Mr. Blackdagger:

Electric, Your men arrive at the city and sell the Generals armor with no troubles at all. You got a Drawbridge istalled at your capital by Castles R Us.
Hazel, (you couldn't draw your weapons because you had Axes and Morningstars.....both of which you need room to swing) Your army finds a narrow enough spot, but sadly the Ghost riders have the upper ground. The Ghost Riders saw what you where doing and charged your army. Your archers quickly reacting to orders started shooting arrows when they got into range. The arrows killed a full half of all of the horses, and even killed 10 Ghost riders. The front line of the remaining horses kept running, but when they saw the pole-arms the front row stopped, but the back row could not. The front row horses got hit into the pole-axes and the other hoses stumbled. In result of this great collision no Ghost Riders where on horses anymore and 5 more where crushed in the pile. The remaining 45 ghost riders (the other 40 still coming) charged your men in a disorganized manner. 10 fell over dead because of the Longbow's power at this range. The rest of these Ghost Riders scrambled over the dead bodies and managed to get to your men. They killed 27 Pole-axe men, but when they finally managed to get to the morningstars they where crushed (none of them where wearing any protective head gear =P). The remaining 40 Ghost Riders couldn't do much because your Calvary charged with their Lances and Morninstars complety crushing (literaly) your enemy. So in the end you lost 19 (8 healed) Infantry, and you got 100 Ghost Armor and Weapon chainmail, kiteshields, Longswords, and Lances. You also got 37 Horses that survived the battle. (The armor is extra hard to pierce now, and the weapons pierce even Mithril armor if the man wielding the weapon is strong enough)
Killer, So you're attacking? Well if you are then that town is consisted of 856 peasants, 45 of which are Infantry armed with Copper Shortswords, 30 of which are Archers armed with birch Crossbows, and 10 Calvary which are armed with Copper Lances. The Leader of this town has * start out of 5. Watch out this ones an arrogant dummy.......you never know what he would do.

ARMOR UPDATE
Helmets......who can think of some Helmets for you Infantry and such?

04:33:04 Jan 11th 09 - Mr. Blackdagger:

Electric, Nothing happens
Hazel, Your men find out that they in fact can slice through dense material...nothing else happens.
Killer, Your Mages raise up the land in the village just a few inches, which is pretty pointless and scares no one. Your men begin marching upon the village with your mages and archers firing thier missles. They managed to kill a few, but in the end all of the archers and mages where targeted and killed (10 arhcers and 5 mages dead). Your men manage to batter down the gate, but in the process they lose even more men to the archers on the walls (15 Inf. Dead). After they break down the gate they immidiatly broke ranks and ran to the center of the village. They ran right through the enemy infantry who was standing there (15 Inf. Dead) and the archers shot some more of your men in the back (7 Inf, Dead). Your men get to the center of the village where they form a small circle. The enemy rushes at you with their archers first, which you killed easil (3 Inf. Dead). Then the enemy rushed their calvary in who managed to kill some more of your Inf, (2 Inf. dead) but you did fight them off. At last the enemy infantry rush at you. It was a hard fight since they outnumbered you 45:32, but you won because of superior armor (17 Inf. dead). Your men then find out that they are the only 17 soldiers left, and because of directions they try and capture the city of 826. Sadly they failed........You lost your whole army (70 Inf. 5 mages, and 10 archers). The town is now undefended, but 400 peasents still live in it.
Why did you lose: You lost because you didn't protect your Infantry, mages, or archers from arrow fire during the procession toward the gate and during the attack on the gate. Then you had your men rush straight to the center, so during the rush they didn't protect themselves much and lost a lot of people.

Armor Update
Leather Helmet
(some protection, doesn't restrict vision)- 100g
Medium Helmet (the troops can see better, but isn't as strong as the full helmet)- 200g
Full Helmet (better protection for the head, but restricts vision)- 400g

NOTE: Some types of helmets are better for certain type of troops, while others just hinder certain types of troops.

Just before the night fell, a merchant arrived in one of Gilth's villages. He claimed to have something of interest. Helmets, headprotection. None of Gilth's men, nor the enemy wore these, but they could provide some extra protection in time of needs. Gilth bought 200 leather helmets for his archers and promised the trader he would buy more when he had the funds. It was a warm night, and Gilth was in a good mood. Tomorrow he would try out the new weaponry he acquired from the Ghost Riders. A new assault on a village north-east of village B. The next morning, his men marched out.

When Gilth arrived at the village, he noticed his scouts were correct. The village did not have any defensive structures. It was rumoured though, that the villagers were fierce warriors and skilled horsemen. His men marched on towards the village. Infantry with pole-axes ahead, warriors with morning stars in the ranks behind them. Archers and healers as always in the back. The cavalry flanking on both sides. They traveled on open trough open lands, Gilth was expecting some kind of ambush and warned his men to be aware of every sign of n incoming attack. The defenders of the village should have no chance.
If they came out of the village, The poleaxes would secure their position to counter a possible charge. Archers would each fire 2 arrows at the defenders and then Gilths Ghost Riders would charge.
If the enemy remained in the village, once again the archers would shoot their arows into the village, hoping to hit something. After this barrage of arrows, Gilths infantry would march into the village, Cavalry and archers moving to another entrance in the village. Where they would enter cautiously. Every hostile has to be killed. (both groups would be accompagnied by 10 healers).

Suddenly Gilth realised something. His men didn't know this territory, so if his men had to charge the enemy, they didn't know what kind of surface to expect. To get more knowledge of the land between him and the village, Gilth send 2 scouts ahead, to scout to ground. If the ground ahead is very moist, Gilths Riders will not charge the enemy if they leave the village, instead, his archers will keep firing while his infantry form a protective corridor. If the enemy charges, let them run into the poleaxes and then send all melee warriors to finish them.

06:30:24 Jan 15th 09 - Mr. Blackdagger:

Electric, a town huh? (Small square = Towns(1,000 - 10,000 people). You find out that the town has 7,868 peasants, 800 of which are soldiers. Out of those 800. The leader of this town has *** stars out of 5
Breakdown
--500 Inf (armed with Steel shortswords + Axes, and have copper kiteshields)
--100 Cav (with Copper lances and Iron longswords)
--200 Archers (willow Longbows)
Defense of the city
A 2 Steel Gates and a medium moat.
Hazel, you attacked the village with full confidence. Your men walk to the town and find out that the men are not sallying forth. So your archers fire arrows into the village and then keep going. They tear down the gate and separate into two groups. One groups begins to go around, but they suddenly meet up with 36 horsemen. You lose 20 archers and 10 Cav in this skirmish, but in the end your overwhelm that force. The other part of your army just stood at the gate waiting for orders when suddenly 15 horsemen appear and charge and engage. 25 horsemen then hit you in the back (killing 10 archers and 5 Inf) but they stood no chance against the greater numbers. In the end you lost 30 archers, 5 inf, and 10 Cav. You got 7360g, 60 horses, 74 copper longswords, lances, and kiteshields.
Killer, The crulgal begins to like the men in Army 3, lessens the chance of it attacking your men by A LOT. Your men arrive at the village which has 500 peasants which still have not been able to recuperate from the last battle,

After the village was under control, Gilth send some of his men to the nearest town to sell equipment they weren't using. The construction of Spikes was started in every village, and the losses to his army were replaced with new recruits, together with the basic defenders of the village. When everything was taken care of. Gilth and his men marched out once again, to village B.

Optional:
Gilth now had completed his plan, he had full control over the area, from sea to sea. Beacause most of the important roads passed through his villages, he started asking toll from the travellers. In return, Gilth would make sure that any bandits or raiders in his territory would be killed.

[OOC: Blackdagger can decide if I can do the toll thing and if I would gain some gold from it. I figure this gives some extra possibilites.]

The infantry are to protect the Crugal and healers in the centre. They are to go to the gates, and try to get in. If they get in, they are to go through the village, still with the Crugal and healers protected. They are to slaughter any people that get in their way, and ultimately take over the town. If the Crugal gets enraged, my troops are to stay away from it, and slowly walk outside the gate and try to keep it closed until the Crugal calms down slightly. The healers are then to try and pacify the creature, and heal any wounds it may have gotten(as well as the infantry's wounds).

03:02:38 Jan 16th 09 - Mr. Blackdagger:

Electric, The army in the town saw your army, but the leader wasn't smart enough to attack you, but he did feel a little greedy so once your army was out of sight he sent half of his army to your Capital (be there in 1 day).
Hazel, The toll worked and you got an extra 1000g a day, but now you HAVE to have armies patrolling the roads to kill any bandits or raiders about. If merchants get killed and/or robbed while on your roads then you have to pay reimbursement (you can decide to cancel this at any time).
Killer, Your men march to those gates and the Crulgal happily knocks down the gates. Your men see no reason to slow him down so they just let the Crulgal go into the village. The Crulgal, being so happy with this privilege, goes into the town and kills everyone. You get the town without a single casualty, you got 7000g and your Crulgal is very happy (100%).

Crulgal Happiness
This is how I'll determine if he will be obedient or not.
To make him happy: Allow him to go and kill for fun, every day he goes without killing he will lose 10% happiness, once he drops below 50% he will be harder to control.
To make him upset: Don't allow him to do what he wants to do (aka kill things =P).

The Merchants guild easily agreed with the toll. They do want to see Gilth's men patrolling the roads. Gilth agreed and selected 35 cavalry and 100 warriors (2 groups of 50) to patrol the area. They will patrol daily on random but coordinated routes. There will be no patrols during the night. Until More patrols can be drafted, Gilth's assault army will be patrolling too.
Now it was time for Gilth to construct an army big enough to take over a town. He wanted to found a new country, but to do so, he'll need a city big enough to be called a capital.

13:52:36 Jan 16th 09 - Lady Hazel:

[OOC: clarification on the random but coordinated routes. Every day will have different routes, but the 4 groups (2x 50inf, 35 cav and assault army) coordinate these routes so that they won't be patrolling the same roads on 1 day.]

05:54:29 Jan 17th 09 - Mr. Blackdagger:

Electric, (I was giving you a chance to take that city. He sent out HALF of his men....that would have left the town defenses with 250 inf, 50 Cav, and 100 archers. Very doable with your army) If your men where to intercept the army they would of had to march through the night and hit that army in the morning. They decided that it would have been too demanding and instead fled to your capital.
Bonus: Because of the attacker your peasants volunteer, you can recruit an extra 50 soldiers next turn.
Hazel, (make defense/attack plans just in case you come across bandits....which you will ;-)). Nothing happens.
Bonus: The merchants are so happy that they can now travel in safety; they give you an extra 3000g.
Killer, Nothing happens.
Bonus: Your peasants are impressed with your latest victory. They are now convinced that you are a great leader; you can recruit an extra 40 soldiers next turn.

[[I'll hit all three of you with random event soon........be ready for it ;-)]]

Gilth trained more men and equipped them with the best armour he could find. He made 4000 gold with the Toll yesterday and spent 3600 goldpieces to invest in safety measures. The profit wasn't as high as he expected, but atleast he wasn't usig money, and maybe, some day he could use his good relations with the merchants for other means.
On the first day of the patrol, only a minor highwayman was encountered, but it caused problems anyway because Gilths men didn't know what to do. From now on, his troops would have to capture the sole criminals and bring them to Gilth. He had plans for these men. The groups of raiders and bandits would be killed. Before engaging in a battle, the enemy strenght has to be estimated and Every group under 35 men has to be attacked. Before charging towards the enemy, 2 men are send to warn the villages and the other armies about the battle. If there are other troops less then 1 day away, they will reinforce my patrol. To avoid long and slow battles, Gilth wouldn't use archers in his patrols. Instead he used infantry and cavalry with kiteshields to protect them from enemy arrows.
The current patrols were 2 groups of 56 infantry, 1 group of 57 infantry and 1 group of 65 cavalry, protecting the most traveled roads. To keep in shape, Gilths assault army will be patrolling the area as well.

12:01:36 Jan 17th 09 - Lady Hazel:

Extra Orders.

The main assault army will engage every enemy up to 400 men. Archers fire first, Cavalry charges at the enemy if there are no 'peak' weapons in the hostile army. Infantry with morning stars follows and engages enemy in melee. Pole axes do the same as always (securing pole axe in ground, preparing for enemy charge).

If the enemy group is bigger then my limits, try to avoid combat and warn other patrols. If necessary, retreat to nearest village. Always send 2 men to warn the surrounding areas.

[[OOC: Now its too black gilth..]]

Name/Race: Electric, Troll
Villages/towns/cities: 4 Villages
Gold earned a day: 600
Gold: 5,623
Troops: 755 Infantry, 312 Archers, 1 Healer, 6 Calvary,25 Mages; 150 Infantry bought
Weapons: 150 Willow Long Bows(12),900 Steel Pole-Axes(849), 100 Copper Lances (6), 300 Yew Long Bows(300), 36 Mithril Axes(36), 20 Steel Great Swords (20)
Armour: 650 Iron Bucklers(650), 100 Copper Kite Shields, 20 Steel Kite Shields(6), 1200 Iron Platemail (1149),600 Leather Helmets, (499) 600 Medium Helmets (600)
Mounts: 1 Pony(1), 27 Horses(4), 1 Warg (1)

All the infantry with Steel Pole-axes are to jab any enemies up but the walls or gates. Archers stand on houses and fire at any enemy men coming. If the gate is broken down (which is highly unlikely since it IS steel) all infantry are to make a wall of men on either side with archers firing down the middle. Once most of the men have been killed, the infantry close in around and slaughter the rest, any retreating enemies will be shot down by the mages.
