People for the Eradication of Rainbow Cities

Hi! I'm Rommel, and there's nothing that ticks me off more than when my hard-fighting armies take over a town in my glorious quest for VU-domination when all of the sudden I look at the town and I find it not full of wreckages. No, my friends, what ticks me off is when I find it's a RAINBOW city.

I honestly do not know where some new players (and heaven forbid, supposed vets) get this idea from, however I will lay it down for the record that Rainbow towns suxx0rs. I mean, not only is it almost not worth it for my armies to sit there and prep to take that piece of junk, but you could've probably put up better resistance if you had built yourselves some better towns! (Which would've made me happy because the game is boring without challenges.)

So, sign my petition and next era, say 'No' to Rainbow Cities. My name is Rommel, and I approve this message.

Fuher Fizban states that you might need to make a few (keyword 'few') farms in the beginning to get you going if you didn't land next to a river, but there isn't any excuse to not make a single town next to a body of water and make a large farming town there. Feeds your people just the same, except you'll make more food.

To answer your question, smart rulers don't have to worry about that, they either:

 A. Don't sell all their food on the market, thus having a nice surplus

 B. Make enough money to get food on the market (great when you have kd-mates or friends to sell it cheap)

or, and this is my personal favorite

C. Have more than one farming town!

Still no good excuse to have a rainbow town yet.

I don't like rainbow cities either, but having farms to support it is nice...

Still that city I aforementioned is not the first bad rainbow city I have taken, last era, I took a city with 1000 houses and only 2000 farms......nothing else!

I am Arien and I hate spending my resources on repairing rainbow cities.

I also like to shoot rubberbands at fiery generals ;)

I say no to rainbow cities. (Though extra farms can be useful at times)

Ah, very good. I should've learned to micro-manage things alot earlier. Oh, Andrei, can you give me some extra protection from rubber-band shooting redheads? Snipers on rooftops would be an excellent touch.

Ah Mac, what you had starting off as a promising beginning you went and ruined with the inclusion of your Rainbow town.

So let's go with your logic. You have a specialty town for each and every one of your basic resources (two for mining, another plus), and then... you build yourself a rainbow out in the middle of nowhere? So, of all the towns you built, which towns make the most of a certain resource? The speciailties because they're getting all the bonuses. Then let's say I come in and take everything but the rainbow town.

So, on the assumption that you have a 90k rainbow town (ugh), you're left with one town that can't quite feed itself, that doesn't make quite enough money, whose cost to manufacture troops is WAY higher than it should be for a specialty armory... get the picture?

Though for a better example, in the battle in you vs. me (another human player), who won?

Andrei, I'll also let you destroy all the known members of Rainbow Inc., and shell their sponsors into rubble if you would.

Ok Mac, of all the people I know in PKS, Shahal is probably the most successful. Why? He doesn't build rainbows. I'm trying to help you all help yourselves as PKS is probably one of the worst rainbow offenders of all time.

Though having a rainbow in the start definately doesn't help get you off to a 'quicker' start at all. Though if you don't believe me, keep doing what you're doing. 

Well, so long as you didn't throw in unnecessary stuff into the city next to a river and a mountain, I will understand that as it's making good use of your space

Hmm... I usually build a semi-rainbow, (mines, farms, lumbers and home, but no more), an armoury, and a miner. The Semi-rainbow provides enough tree for an early start, and gives good cash as well, often I've had 5/7 mines with 5 tree and 11 food, all from the same city. Building citys is pricey, so switch to ING direct, and save your money.

How can I join the glorious Rainbow Inc?

Even though I am fully against Rainbow Citys and all they do, or don't do for that matter, just to see this come to fulfillment, Rainbow Inc. that is, I'd be willing to lead it, if only at least 11 others would join.
