18:43:36 Jan 7th 08 - Mr. Vengence:

ok, since i cant find any debate websites for my age im starting this debates thread. post a debate, if i fell i can debate about it then i will. or we can have a tournament.

20:34:31 Jan 8th 08 - Mr. Vengence:

I see this is very popular......

20:48:52 Jan 8th 08 - Sir Iwasfrozen VI:

how about is God real, that one always seems to cause a stir....

20:51:51 Jan 8th 08 - Sir Revenge:

Yer....

Its been done though....

01:18:10 Jan 9th 08 - Sir Erunion Telcontar:

And done. And done. And done.

Let's go for something new that is a more objective matter. (Some people will always say God is false, no matter what, and vice versa. As has been proven by rigorous debating on that topic and others like it.)

01:58:57 Jan 9th 08 - Mr. Odysseus:

Let us debate the effectiveness of ethanol as a liquid fuel alternative.

02:09:59 Jan 9th 08 - Mr. Bayushi Clamps:

Heyyy.... there ya go. Ummm, I think we should burn oil because we have it. Let those who have no oil worry about burning alcohol. We can just start killing other things to make into oil for the long term, you know like re-forestation. In fact, if that takes too long we can just start burning dead things now. If we ran out of dead things we could always move on to children and the elderly. (And now for some 100% random and uncalled-for flamage) Oh and let's not forget.... oh I dunno *flips a coin*.... Zeon I guess =p

13:24:54 Jan 9th 08 - Mr. Vengence:

interesting....

well, burn oil yes, but try to cut down on the amount we use. only turn to other things once we have exhausted oil, so we should try to cut down on the amount we use. Ethanol as alternative is a good idea, we need to phase it in though, not suddenly as the oil has run out.

13:27:11 Jan 9th 08 - Mr. Clone V:

oil can last another 50 years at least

19:02:46 Jan 9th 08 - Mr. The Gladiator:

Next year there's a car comming, source of energy: Pressurized air ; autonomy ; 300 km in town ; polution ; zero

19:20:10 Jan 9th 08 - Sir Revenge:

They should like....

Make that the only car available.....

And make it CHEAP, all these things like stuff to help enviroment, organic foods etc are so deer, if they made they cheap then the chace people will change alot

04:53:47 Jan 10th 08 - Mr. Random:

shame it won't work economically, as in for the companys profit.

The only reason i can see this becoming the only car available is when oil actually run's out and then people have to buy it for the amount it costs.
Wait how would they compress the air.... that will use fuel.. so there really is pollution, just not directly.

also ethanol as a fuel cannot be viably used for the same reason. at the moment it costs as much or more fuel to get the ethanol into a form that can be used than you get out of it.
So it would need to be done on a massive scale and a more efficient method will be needed to produce it to make it work.

I
It would be too dumb to be true, think about it... they probabbly use electricity.

They can't make that the only car, It's an ingeneer that has partnered with a small indian car company i think, if it's popular enough with the consumers, then the big car companies will do it too, but you can't just decide that like this... Money is a priority over environment worldwide, if you want to be green, it's gotta be a profitable business, car companies would have NEVER made hybrid cars and such if it woudn't be worth it moneywise

11:49:51 Jan 11th 08 - Mr. Odysseus:

I have read into the compressed air concept.  It is very interesting and worth pursuing.  It used a piston-driven engine just like with gasoline, except that air is fired into the cylinders.  In theory, I could imagine a conversion operation could be put into place that could change all of our gas guzzlers into air powered vehicles, thus saving a lot of end-user cost.

Ethanol, on the other hand, really can't be a complete substitute for oil, at least not yet.  The amount of corn required to make corn-based ethanol to supply US demand would force us to live on boats on the oceans...oh!!  and Canadians, as well.  Sorry Canada!

Of course, there are other alternatives besides corn...that are also far more efficient.  In South America, sugar cane is being used, and it has a much denser energy concentration.  There are other ideas, like wood chips and compost...but I'm not sure if any of the ideas could completely supplant our need for oil.

Thankfully, like Clone V said...there are many years left of oil to help us phase over to an alternative source of energy.

16:37:36 Jan 11th 08 - Mr. Might The God of Cows:

Poor Canada....

Why would it force us to live on boats?

16:43:51 Jan 11th 08 - Mr. Bayushi Clamps:

We have the largest land mass of any other nation and yet tiny population, and we STILL wouldn't have room. Weak dudes...totally weak.

17:25:45 Jan 11th 08 - Sir Erunion Telcontar:

Bayushi, are you from Russia? Because they have a smallish population, and the largest total landmass.
